Riyan Parag called correctly as the unbeaten Rajasthan Royals (RR) elected to bowl on a fresh surface in Hyderabad against a Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) outfit hoping to overturn a two-match losing streak in IPL 2026.

RR made two changes, handing South Africa batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius his first opportunity of the season in place of a "rested" Shimron Hetmyer. In another like-for-like change, seamer Brijesh Sharma went out to accommodate Tushar Deshpande.

Hosts SRH also made two changes, with the experienced bowling duo of Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat making way for debutants Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge. Sakib plays for Bihar in domestic cricket, and will be up against his state mate Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, while Hinge plays for Vidarbha under Harsh Dubey.

Orange Cap in IPL 2026: Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan displace Vaibhav Suryavanshi for most runs during SRH vs RR

Sunrisers Hyderabad duo of Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan displaced Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the top two spots in the updated Orange Cap list in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday against Rajasthan Royals. Klaasen, who started this game with 184 runs, added 40 runs off 26 balls to his tally to 224 runs, the highest in the tournament so far.

Live: Australia bowling first against India in Perth women's Test match

Australia is out to seal a multi-format series victory over India as the sides meet for the sole Test match, in what will also be Alyssa Healy's final game for Australia.

We've had the toss, the Welcome to Country and the anthems and now we're ready for some cricket.

A reminder of the stakes here: Australia leads the series 8-4 after the T20s and ODIs and so, with four points up for grabs in the Test match, has already retained the trophy. But the Aussies need a draw or a win to ensure a series victory, something India will be determined to deny them.

Albanese warned against 'bystanders' six months before Australia became one

It is worth revisiting Anthony Albanese's address to the United Nations.  (ABC News: Matt Roberts)

Much of the escalating crisis in the Middle East remains unknowable. What exactly is Donald Trump willing to settle for in Iran? Will this lead to regime change or merely a regime refresh? What ripple effects will this moment create?

From Australia's vantage point, one conclusion is unavoidable. The bipartisan attachment to championing the "rules-based global order" has gone.

For Labor, this may prove to be a temporary reluctance to defend the rules. The opposition says this should be a wake-up call to the reality Australia now confronts.

When the United States and Israel began bombing Iran over the weekend, they set in motion a war that has engulfed the region.

In Australia, the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, has firmly backed the strikes by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu despite saying his government does not know if there is any legal basis for them.

Italy's plan against Nepal – 'Back ourselves, be more brave, take the game on'

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Italy captain Wayne Madsen has said that the narrowing margins of T20 cricket offer his side a cause of optimism as they prepare to face Nepal on Thursday, drawing inspiration from the way associate teams have pushed top-ranked sides, including Nepal who ran England close, earlier in the tournament.

"We all know that T20 brings the competition levels a lot closer together and it takes one or two special performances from a couple of players in a team to win a game," Madsen said. "We can take a lot of confidence from having watched the Nepal-England game, but also the other games. USA played really well against India first game, and likewise the Netherlands against Pakistan.

A huge honour for us to play at the Wankhede Stadium: Madsen

Gas appetite spiking on data centre demand: Beach CEO

Beach Energy chief executive Brett Woods says demand for natural gas to support data centres and power artificial intelligence means more supportive government policies are required for domestic gas producers.

Woods was speaking after Beach, the country’s third-largest oil and gas producer that is backed by billionaire Kerry Stokes, posted an 8 per cent drop in net profit for the first half of financial year 2026.

Implementing the Australian Government’s Gas Market Review recommendations: have your say

The Gas Market Review recommended fundamental reforms to improve the domestic gas market and ensure natural gas supply for energy users.

We conducted the review jointly with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

We are inviting interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the design and implementation of the agreed reforms including a domestic gas reservation policy and other market reforms. We are also seeking feedback on transitional arrangements and how they would operate within your business.

We will consult further on detailed design during 2026, with the aim of starting a gas reservation scheme in 2027.

Prosecutors have withdrawn all charges against seven Walbunja men accused of illegally trafficking thousands of blacklip abalone.

The co-accused were charged following a joint surveillance operation by NSW Fisheries officers and police from August 2023 to February 2024.

An application for NSW Police to pay the legal bills of the defendants will be heard on Friday.

The trial of seven Walbunja men accused of illegally trafficking thousands of blacklip abalone has collapsed after questions about surveillance evidence.

The men had pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of illegally trafficking the high-value shellfish and participating in an organised criminal group.

Under NSW law, "trafficking" includes taking, selling, receiving or possessing fish illegally, and offences can carry a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

‘Inherently dangerous’: Popular Blue Mountains destination closes

Blue Mountains City Council has closed the popular Lincoln’s Rock lookout for at least three months due to increased safety risks. Mayor Mark Greenhill said “we cannot, in good conscience, keep it open”.

The clifftop destination, in Wentworth Falls, closed last week after a growing number of visitors continued to ignore safety warnings at the unfenced site that overlooks the Jamison Valley.

Last year, Greenhill told this masthead the lookout had received a surge in visitors after a popular K-pop star, Jennie from group Blackpink, visited the site in 2023 and shared photos of herself sitting on the edge of the rock to her 80 million-plus Instagram followers.

Cricket Australia is considering an overhaul of its national championships, which would mean any young guns of the future would have to force their way into an "Allies" team made up of players from the ACT, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

Regulator acts against super fund HESTA after 'severe, prolonged disruption'

HESTA is one of Australia's largest super funds, with 1.1 million members. (ABC News)

Banking and superannuation regulator APRA has imposed additional licence conditions against one of Australia's largest funds HESTA, after a major disruption to services earlier this year.

APRA says the "severe, prolonged disruption" caused direct harm to some of HESTA's 1.1 million members.

HESTA will be required to conduct reviews into its risk management framework and board governance.

One of Australia's largest superannuation funds HESTA has been hit with regulatory action, after a "severe, prolonged disruption" that left 1.1 million Australians unable to access their funds for weeks.

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has imposed additional licence conditions on HESTA, raising concerns about the fund's risk management and board governance during its transition from one outsourced administration provider to another earlier this year.

The financial services regulator has pinged $100 billion superannuation fund HESTA with new licence conditions following its botched administration transfer this year that stripped basic functionality away from members.

The conditions imposed by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority will require the fund, which manages money primarily for the healthcare industry, “to conduct separate independent reviews of its risk management framework and board effectiveness”.
