Amazon Leaks Jason Statham's 'Mutiny' Movie On Prime; Buyers Fume

Amazon is in choppy waters after accidentally leaking Jason Statham‘s latest big-budget action pic Mutiny on its Prime Video service days before the movie is released in theaters.

Deadline understands that the movie was up for a matter of hours earlier this week after a mistake led to it being posted on Prime’s product detail page that typically shows trailers.

Some subscribers couldn’t believe what they were watching. One posted to X: “I’m watching Jason Statham’s new movie Mutiny, streaming on Amazon for free right now. This has to be a huge mistake, right? My theater has showtimes starting this week!”

Mutiny review – Jason Statham’s fight-by-numbers action thriller just about stays above water

The hard-working action hero gives us exactly what we expect, and often want, in this sturdy cargo ship-set caper

The dog days of August have already seen the trotting out of some usual suspects from a junky Eli Roth horror to a belated nostalgia comedy sequel to a Mike Pence-approved Ronald Reagan drama. This weekend, yet more howls will be heard in cinemas with a lower-tier horror instalment and an even lower-tier girlies on tour comedy being shuffled out. It’s all amounting to a rather rubbishy end to what’s been a pretty remarkable summer (easily the biggest since the pandemic), allowing for Spider-Man supremacy until September slowly returns the industry from the D-list closer to the A.

‘Mutiny’ Review: Jason Statham Dies Hard on a Cargo Ship in a Thriller of Impeccable Bring-the-Pain Timing

Out to avenge the murder of his shipping-tycoon boss, Statham's ruthless bodyguard turns mano-a-mano combat into blithe execution.

By the early ’90s, it had become clear that “Die Hard” was the most paradigmatic thriller of its era, imitated in scores of knockoffs that kept the spirit but changed the locale. Thus, we got “Die Hard on a Plane” (“Passenger 57,” “Air Force One”), “Die Hard on a Bus” (“Speed”), “Die Hard on a Train” (“Under Siege 2: Dark Territory”), “Die Hard in the White House” (“Olympus Has Fallen”), and the one that finally ran the cycle aground — “Die Hard on a Boat,” which served the first “Under Siege” well enough but stalled the overblown, too-slow-for-speed “Speed 2: Cruise Control.”

Amazon stock soars 15% as e-commerce giant's AWS cloud business booms in 'home run' quarter

What's behind the move: The e-commerce and cloud giant topped second quarter expectations as accelerating cloud growth at Amazon Web Services (AWS) helped drive strong results. Amazon also said its AI and custom chip businesses have each surpassed a $25 billion annualized revenue run rate.

AWS generated $42.2 billion in second quarter revenue, up 36.7% year over year, fueled by strength across both its core cloud business and AI services.

"We added over $4.6 billion in revenue quarter over quarter — about 80% more than our largest increase ever. Our backlog stands at $496 billion, growing triple digits year over year," Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said during the company's earnings call.

    Jeff Bezos Is World's Third-Richest Again—Overtaking Google’s Sergei Brin

Jeff Bezos on Friday became the world’s third-richest person once again, reclaiming the ranking from Google co-founder Sergey Brin as Amazon’s stock accelerated at its fastest pace in four years, following a hotter-than-expected earnings report.

Shares of Amazon surged about 14% shortly after trading opened on Friday, pacing the stock’s largest single-day gain since April 24, 2015 (14.1%).

That burst followed Amazon’s quarterly earnings on Thursday, in which the firm reported $206.6 billion in revenue boosted by a 37% year-over-year surge in cloud sales to $42.2 billion, exceeding Wall Street’s estimates of $197 billion and $40.5 billion, respectively, according to FactSet.

Amazon even raised its spending forecast this year to $220 billion, up from $200 billion, as CEO Andy Jassy said a majority of Amazon’s capital expenditures would go toward matching demand for AI, noting the firm was “unusually well-positioned for this AI inflection.”

Amazon's AWS posts fastest growth since 2021, citing AI and chip demand

Amazon's cloud segment grew faster than analysts had predicted in the second quarter, with revenue increasing almost 37%, marking the strongest expansion since 2021.

The digital commerce company said in a Thursday statement that Amazon Web Services (AWS) generated $42.23 billion in revenue during the June quarter. Analysts surveyed by StreetAccount had been looking for $40.54 billion. The growth rate accelerated from 28% in the first quarter.

AWS' artificial intelligence business and the unit's chips each brought in over $25 billion in annualized revenue, more than doubling from last year.

Amazon remains a larger force in cloud computing than any other company. Microsoft said Wednesday that revenue from Azure and other cloud services were growing 43%, compared with 40% in the March quarter. The Windows company touted over $100 billion in revenue from Azure and other cloud services over the past 12 months. The equivalent figure for Amazon is $148.40 billion.

‘Russian Amazon’ hit by more massive Ukrainian strikes

London: Ukraine has launched new attacks on Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries, in a sign of its capacity to send explosive drones into enemy territory amid upheaval in the Ukrainian military after public protests about the war.

The drones reached two of the retailer’s major warehouses in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk, in southern Russia to the east of Crimea, and led to flames shooting skyward in dramatic explosions that were caught on video and seen on social media.

The attacks came at a fractious time in Ukraine after some members of the public gathered on the streets of Kyiv to express their concern after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sacked the popular defence minister, Mykhailo Fedorov.

Russia's businesses under strain from Ukraine's attacks on Wildberries

Ukrainian drones have hit several retail warehouses belonging to Russia's biggest online retailer, Wildberries, in a matter of days, dealing a blow to a large number of small and medium-sized businesses.

After months of drone attacks on oil depots and refineries, Kyiv says it is now targeting logistics hubs used by Russians to buy military equipment, and disrupting supplies to the Russian army.

But it has also frustrated hundreds of Russian sellers who depend on online marketplaces for their livelihoods, making the war feel closer to home after almost four and a half years.

"I am a mother of a disabled child, I've built the business myself," one woman complained on an expletive-laden social media post that went viral.

Amazon earnings beat expectations with strong cloud growth

Amazon on Wednesday posted better-than-expected earnings and revenue for the first quarter, and reported cloud sales that topped analysts' expectations.

The stock was up more than 4%, after bouncing around in extended trading.

Here's how the company did, compared with estimates from analysts polled by LSEG:

Revenue in Amazon's cloud segment increased 28% year over year to $37.59 billion, marking its fastest growth in more than three years. Wall Street had expected AWS sales to grow 26%.

Amazon and other big tech companies have been trying to justify their hefty artificial intelligence spending, which could approach $700 billion in 2026. Amazon in February projected its capital expenditures will reach $200 billion in 2026, a sharp increase from last year.

Amazon Q1 earnings put the spotlight on AI spending and revenue

Amazon (AMZN) reported first quarter revenue and earnings per share that topped Wall Street estimates, with AWS posting its fastest growth in 15 quarters as the e-commerce giant continues its massive artificial intelligence build-out.

Amazon stock was down 0.8% in extended trading after initially rising following the report, then falling as much as 7% before recovering most of those losses.

The company reported earnings per share of $2.78, up from $1.59 a year ago. Revenue was $181.5 billion, up from $155.7 billion in the same quarter last year.

Analysts had expected earnings per share of $1.62 on revenue of $177.2 billion, according to Bloomberg consensus estimates.

Amazon’s all-important AWS cloud business generated $37.6 billion in revenue, ahead of estimates for $36.7 billion. AWS revenue excluding foreign exchange grew 28%, above expectations for 25.7% growth.

Amazon Prime stream cuts out in OT of Heat-Hornets play-in game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Amazon Prime Video's stream of the Miami-Charlotte play-in game went offline for nearly two minutes during the overtime period, causing fans to miss a Hornets possession.

Stan Van Gundy, working the game as an analyst for Prime Video, was midsentence when the audio feed was lost coming out of a timeout with 48.1 seconds remaining. A message about "technical difficulties" began displaying on screens a few seconds later.

When the video and audio feeds resumed, Charlotte's LaMelo Ball had scored for a 125-120 lead. Fans missed 22.1 seconds of playing time.

"Tell me the game didn't just cut off?!!? Am I trippin?? WTH," Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James posted on X, as the words "technical difficulties" began trending nationally across social media.

"Am I tripping??" – LeBron's reaction to the broadcast of the epic Hornets-Heat game being cut off

The 2026 NBA Play-In Tournament got off to a fiery start with the epic clash between the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat on Tuesday. Among the captive audience was Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who nearly missed the end of the classic battle when the game broadcast was temporarily cut off.

James immediately sounded off on what happened, writing on X, formerly Twitter:

Tell me the game didn’t just cut off?!!? Am I trippin?? WTH 🤦🏾‍♂️

It did not take long for James to find similar reactions from those watching the game, who took to the comments section of his post to share their thoughts on the broadcast glitch.

So much of Amazon Prime’s NBA season has been brilliant broadcasting. Last night, however, the streamer lost the signal for about 20 seconds of overtime action when the Hornets went up 125-120 on the Heat. It put up a “technical difficulties” graphic, and people were furious. Maybe worse is the “Playmaker Chain” given out to players after the game. I love a gimmick, but this was kind of corny.

Jordan Mailata is Amazon Australia's Packaging Reduction Officer

Jordan Mailata knows a thing or two about protection. As a Left Tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Australian NFL Super Bowl champion has spent his career making sure nothing gets through. Now, he's bringing that same determination to a very different kind of challenge — tackling packaging waste as Amazon Australia's ‘Packaging Reduction Officer'.

"The most sustainable packaging is no added packaging at all, — but some things need extra protection to make it to the endzone," says Jordan. "And that's where I step in. My role is to make sure your package arrives in perfect condition, using as little packaging as possible."

Amazon Taps Aussie NFL Star Jordan Mailata For Social-First Packaging Reduction Campaign

Amazon Australia has tapped Aussie NFL star Jordan Mailata for a new social- and earned-first campaign that talks up the delivery giant’s efforts to reduce its packaging.

The campaign, developed in collaboration with Poem Group, leans on Mailata’s gridiron credentials to bring the idea to life.

As Amazon Australia’s ‘Packaging Reduction Officer’ the Philadelphia Eagles Star is tasked with tackling sustainability by finding ways to use better and fewer packaging materials. And as the Eagles’ left tackle, he will be utilising his defensive skills to stop excess package waste whilst not sacrificing protection.

“I have to find the coverage. Which, in this case is identifying the item. And then once I’ve identified the defence, I need to use the right tackling technique. In my ‘PRO’ role, it’s whether the item needs to be boxed or packaged and then sent on its way,” Mailata told B&T in an exclusive chat.

Amazon plans to spend big on AI but shares slump

Amazon on Thursday joined the other US tech giants in announcing a huge increase in spending on artificial intelligence (AI) projects and infrastructure, which seemed to knock back investors.

Reporting on its past year's financial performance, Amazon said it was expecting to spend $200bn this year on building out its business, much of it on AI.

That is a significant increase from last year, when it spent $125bn. The company's stock dipped in after hours trading by 10%.

While Amazon's spending plans are now the most aggressive among the Big Tech companies, including Meta, Google and Microsoft, collectively they expect to spend around $650bn on AI and related projects this year.

Amazon Powers Up Record Q4 Sales, Forecasts 50% Increase in Capex for 2026 to $200 Billion

Amazon‘s shopping cart spilled over in the fourth quarter of 2025: The ecommerce behemoth raked in a record $213.4 billion in revenue that beat Wall Street expectations. But the company’s shares fell in after-hours trading Thursday after Amazon said it expected to increase capital spending roughly 50% to $200 billion for 2026 as it races to compete in the AI space.

Overall net sales for the year-end 2025 holiday shopping quarter increased 14%. Net income was $21.2 billion (up 5.9%), translating to $1.95 per diluted share, which slightly missed forecasts.

Meanwhile, Amazon continued to carve off a bigger chunk of the digital ad market. Q4 advertising revenue totaled $21.32 billion, up 23%, which slightly topped expectations. Amazon’s ad services includes Prime Video ads and other video advertising, display ads and sponsored ads sold to sellers, vendors, publishers, authors and others. (By default, Prime Video, included as perk for Prime members, includes ads unless you pay extra for a no-ads experience.)
