    Chaos strikes Sydney Airport as dozens of flights are canceled due to weather

    Australian travelers are facing widespread disruption after dozens of scheduled flights to and from Sydney Airport on Sunday were canceled due to high winds.

    The chaos has left the plans of hundreds of travelers up in the air, with Sydney Airport’s online flight board showing a flurry of cancellations impacting Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar.

    As of 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, there were 33 cancelled flights that were previously scheduled to arrive at Sydney Airport, and 24 cancelled departures from the airport, along with dozens of delayed flights showing on its website.

    The nation’s air navigation service provider, Airservices Australia, enacted single runway operations at Sydney Airport on Sunday morning.

Other widely used carriers such as Regional Express Airlines, Alliance Airlines, Indonesia AirAsia, AirAsia, Malindo Air, China Eastern Airlines, and Air Chathams also experienced delays.According to the latest flight data, major disruptions were recorded at Sydney Airport (263 delays, 11 cancellations), Brisbane Airport (197 delays, 13 cancellations), Melbourne Airport (184 delays, 8 cancellations), Auckland Airport (70 delays, 2 cancellations), Perth Airport (50 delays, 2 cancellations) and Christchurch International Airport (25 delays). The affected cities, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Auckland, and Christchurch, created widespread challenges for travelers across both countries’ busiest aviation hubs.

    From the city to the beach to regional backyards, here's what we got. 

    Mick and his son walked along Sunshine Beach in Queensland as they watched the moon eclipse halfway before a dark storm and clouds rolled over. 

    "We hurried home to dodge the rain, but snagged these pics," the father said. 

    Linda's 97-year-old mum witnessed the eclipse shine through her bedroom window in Strathpine in Queensland.

    First crewed mission around the Moon in 53 years delayed by leak

    NASA has delayed the launch of its mission to send humans around the Moon for the first time since the Apollo missions.

    NASA had hoped to launch the mission as early as next week.

    But a full two-day dress rehearsal of the launch was terminated in the last 5 minutes yesterday due to the detection of a hydrogen leak in the rocket.

    The test also revealed issues with communication systems with the crew capsule.

    'I hope they forget all about Artemis 2': Moon astronauts are taking the long view

    The astronauts of NASA's Artemis 2 moon mission want to become a mere footnote in the annals of space history.

    Artemis 2 will send NASA's Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch and Canada's Jeremy Hansen on a 10-day flight around the moon. As the first crewed trip to lunar realms since Apollo 17 in 1972, this mission will be momentous — but the Artemis 2 astronauts hope future generations have reason to gloss over their contributions.

    "I hope they forget all about Artemis 2," Koch told Bill Whitaker of CBS' "60 Minutes," which aired a piece about the mission on Sunday night (Feb. 1). "I think that's a little bit extreme, but we talk about our legacy being enabling the future missions, all the way from Artemis 3 to Artemis 100 to missions to Mars."

    The midfielder has flown back to Australia to be with her family after confirming that her mother has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile duct.

    The news was announced via a statement from the Cooney-Cross family and a personal post on the player’s Instagram account on Thursday. The diagnosis has been described as a "huge shock" for the family, with the condition identified as aggressive and incurable.

    Manchester United have included two brothers in a Premier League matchday squad for the first time since 2012.

    Jack and Tyler Fletcher are among the substitutes for the home game against Newcastle United.

    Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio were selected by Sir Alex Ferguson for a 3-2 win at Hull City.

    Last Sunday, Jack Fletcher followed in his father Darren’s footsteps to play a senior game for Manchester United, as the 18-year-old came off the substitute’s bench at Aston Villa.

    He became the 255th homegrown player to break into the senior ranks — and hoping to follow him soon will be his twin brother Tyler.

    But while Jack was at Villa Park, Tyler was turning out 17 miles north at Tamworth FC’s The Lamb Ground for a National League Cup tie that would present a very different experience.

    The Athletic watched Tyler as part of the latest instalment of The Prospects series, which profiles the young up-and-coming academy players with a chance of breaking through at senior level.

    Man Utd legend's sons in Prem squad together for first time amid injury crisis

    DARREN FLETCHER’S twin sons Tyler and Jack were both selected in Ruben Amorim’s matchday Manchester United squad for Friday night’s clash with Newcastle.

    This marked the first time that the teenage duo were both picked as subs for a Premier League game.
