Tottenham vs. Arsenal: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

North London Derby day beckons, as relegation-threatened Tottenham Hotspur take on stuttering Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

A winless start to 2026, combined with a perilous league position, means Spurs finally parted ways with Thomas Frank after eight miserable months. So, former Juventus manager Igor Tudor will lead the Lilywhites into battle this weekend for a significant derby.

Tottenham missed out on derailing Arsenal’s title tilt two seasons ago, but they have a huge opportunity to kick their fiercest rivals while they’re down on home soil. Mikel Arteta’s side should be cantering towards the league title, but they’ve instead contrived to lose control of the race.

The dynamic landscape of current events often brings forth significant discussions. Monitoring these developments provides crucial insights.

Arsenal boss Slegers: Rematch with Leuven 'different scenario'

Arsenal will get a sense of deja vu in Wednesday's Champions League play-off round first leg as they run out to face OH Leuven in Belgium.

This was the fixture with which Renee Slegers' side wrapped up their league phase campaign with a 3-0 win back in December, so it is little wonder they are strong favourites to advance in this two-legged tie and to the quarterfinals where Chelsea await.

Slegers, whose side come into the match on the back of their FIFA Champions Cup success and a win over WSL leaders Manchester City, is preaching humility to ensure there is no slip-up.

On her thoughts on the game…
We are feeling very good and we are building momentum together as a team. A good display tonight, but we know it’s only half time. There’s gonna be another tough test next week. Amazing to see the stadium full and to play against a top Leuven side. We knew we had to be at our best tonight and to be clinical inside the box and we’re ruthless in both boxes, so I think we put on a good display today.

Mikel Arteta: Arsenal's 9-point lead at top of Premier League means 'nothing'

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal aren't focusing on their lead at the top of the Premier League. (0:33)

Mikel Arteta has claimed Arsenal's nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League means "nothing" despite his team piling the pressure on Manchester City.

The Gunners eased to a 3-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday as Martín Zubimendi's 20-yard drive opened the scoring on 42 minutes before substitute Viktor Gyökeres struck twice late on.

City must now respond with their game-in-hand at last season's champions Liverpool on Sunday, a venue where they have won just once in 22 league trips.

Arsenal's advantage is the biggest lead they have enjoyed since the final day of their 2003-04 title-winning campaign, the last time they won the league.

Gyökeres double keeps Arsenal on title track in stroll past sloppy Sunderland

There are times when the best thing for a side is an uneventful win. Titles are won less in the big set-piece games than against mid-table teams in the easily forgotten circumstances of a Saturday afternoon. Arsenal weren’t brilliant against Sunderland, but they were good enough to win comfortably, and that increases their lead at the top of the table to nine points, adding a degree of extra pressure to Manchester City’s Sunday visit to Liverpool.

“They’re really tough opponents, really good at what they do,” said Mikel Arteta. “It’s very difficult to get sequences with threat and momentum, so I’m delighted with the performance.”

We maintained our six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 win at home to Sunderland on Saturday.

Martin Zubimendi opened the scoring in style with half-time approaching, before Viktor Gyokeres' second-half brace wrapped up the three points in N5.

Analyst Adrian Clarke has gone back through the footage to discover exactly what made us so clinical:

One of the key tactical patterns of this encounter was the way we allowed Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi to become our ‘spare man’ inside the final third.

Sandro Tonali to Arsenal?! Gunners weighing up stunning deadline day move for Newcastle midfield dynamo

Arsenal are reported to have asked about a stunning deadline day deal for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali. The Gunners have lost Mikel Merino to an untimely injury, with Mikel Arteta eager to ensure that he is not left short on options in an ongoing Premier League title bid. Italy international Tonali would be another proven addition to the ranks at Emirates Stadium.

Tonali has been at St James’ Park since the summer of 2023. He has, having missed a large chunk of his debut campaign on Tyneside, taken in 67 top-flight appearances for the Magpies. They are understandably reluctant to part with the all-action 25-year-old.

Newcastle INSTANTLY DISMISS ambitious reports of Arsenal move for classy £60m Toon hero

Reports that Arsenal are in talks with Newcastle over a staggering move to sign Sandro Tonali have been emphatically rubbished, though sources insist there may be more to the links than meets the eye, while it has also been confirmed that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is in the market for a new signing on deadline day.

The classy midfielder is regarded as a vital cog in the Newcastle side, having joined in a £60m (€70m, $82m) move from AC Milan in summer 2023, making him the most expensive Italian footballer of all time. While all has not gone to plan for Tonali since his move to England – he was forced to sit out 10 months of football owing to his involvement in illegal betting activity – he has since proved his worth with a series of impressive displays.

Report Arsenal plotting surprise deadline day move for Tonali

Various reports on the final day of the transfer window claim that Premier League leaders Arsenal are plotting a surprise move for Italy international Sandro Tonali.

According to reports from the likes of Florian Plettenberg, Indykalia and others, Arsenal are interested in the Newcastle United midfielder, but sealing a deal with less than 12 hours of the transfer window remaining is a difficult task.

Some reports claim that Tonali’s agent, Beppe Riso, is the one pushing for the Arsenal move.

Newcastle reportedly value the former Milan midfielder in the region of €115m (£100m). The Magpies spent a fee reported to be in the region of €70m to sign Tonali from Milan back in the summer of 2023.

Leeds vs Arsenal: Kai Havertz starts first PL game in a year, captain Martin Ødegaard dropped

Mikel Arteta has said that Bukayo Saka "wasn't comfortable" to start Arsenal's 4-0 thrashing of Leeds United, prompting him to be replaced by Noni Madueke in the starting XI.

Madueke went on to play a starring role in the win, with his cross headed in for Martín Zubimendi for Arsenal's opener, before his corner was punched by Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow into his own net to make it two.

"In the warm-up he had a little niggle, he wasn't comfortable to start the game, so immediately we made a decision to make that change and bring Noni in," Arteta said after the game.

'A great headache' – can Madueke stake claim for Arsenal and England?

Noni Madueke played a big part in Arsenal's first two goals against Leeds

The sight of Noni Madueke flying past defenders and putting dangerous crosses into the penalty area will have been a welcome sight for Mikel Arteta.

And Madueke's performance in Arsenal's 4-0 hammering of Leeds will have been even more well received, given that he was drafted into the starting line-up minutes before kick-off after Bukayo Saka picked up a hip injury in the warm-up.

The 23-year-old created Martin Zubimendi's opener, before seeing his corner punched into the Leeds net by goalkeeper Karl Darlow for the Gunners' second, as Arteta's men moved seven points clear at the Premier League summit.

After seeing us thrash Leeds United 4-0, a happy Mikel Arteta took question from the media in the Elland Road press room.

on the victory:Very, very happy obviously. A very impressive performance, a very impressive result and in the context that we've done it. When you have the difficulty of the game and the opponent that we're facing, with their recent form and the style of play that they have at the moment and the energy that the stadium brings, then the fact that after three results that didn't go our way in the league, we really wanted to show how much we wanted it, and I think we've certainly done that today.on Saka’s injury:In the warm-up, he had a little niggle, he wasn't comfortable starting the game, so immediately we made a decision to make that change and bring Noni in. And he was ready, because you cannot do that in two minutes. The way he prepared, the way he's waiting for opportunity, I think it paid off today because he really impacted the team.on Madueke and Martinelli stepping up:That's only possible if those players are with the right mindset. We talked before the game that it's going to be a long game, we're going to have to navigate through different moments. We're going to need everybody fulfilling their role that they have on the day, and I think the players executed that incredibly well.

There's a card angle here that feels like it's slipped through the pricing cracks. This London derby has plenty of needle baked into it anyway, but one specific match-up jumps off the page: Marc Cucurella vs Jarrod Bowen.

Bowen is one of the most effective foul-winners in the Premier League when isolated one-on-one. He draws contact cleverly, carries the ball aggressively and forces defenders into recovery challenges. The data backs it up. Bowen has already drawn 10 cards from opponents this season, more than any other player in the league.

Arsenal stroll back to winning ways against outclassed Leeds and go seven points clear

It would be a touch too hyperbolic to suggest this was a season-defining afternoon for Arsenal’s title ambitions, but given the opposition and the pre-match drama surrounding this game, there was no doubting that come full time this felt like a significant afternoon in the Premier League title picture.

Two points from three games is hardly compelling enough evidence to prompt full-blown crisis talks, but given the lofty standards Arsenal have set in the first half of this season, it felt as though we would learn plenty about them here . This against a team who have lost once since the start of December and with a ferocious home crowd behind them.

Arsenal dealt significant blow as Bukayo Saka pulls up injured & has to be replaced in Gunners' starting XI shortly before kick-off against Leeds

Bukayo Saka appears to have picked up an injury in Arsenal's pre-match warm-up before facing Leeds United. The winger joined his team-mates on the Elland Road pitch prior to the 3pm kick-off but went down the tunnel early. Gunners winger Noni Madueke went on to replace him in the line-up in a huge blow for Mikel Arteta's Premier League title-chasing side.

According to ESPN journalist James Olley, Saka picked up an injury during the warm-up, a good 15 minutes before kick-off on Saturday. Summer signing Madueke took his place in the starting XI. BBC Sport also confirmed that the 24-year-old England international is out of the Leeds encounter, with Saka walking down the tunnel with a physio. It has been reported that the winger was struggling with an issue with his hip, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hoping that he will not remain sidelined for too long. Saka was also set to be Arsenal's captain for this game, but Gabriel Magalhaes took over the armband for the match.

Also going on, a match between Elina Svitolina and Mirra Andreeva that could be brewing into a classic. Katy Murrells has you covered:

We’ve seen that, domestically teams often double-up on Bukayo Saka, and Arsenal have failed to score in their last two league games. United won’t do that, but they will probably play Patrick Dorgu, a left-back, at left-wing, and he has the engine and speed to get up and down the flank. Perhaps the main criticism of Arteta’s outfit is their lack of top-class attackers – shut down Saka and they can struggle – but nevertheless, it’s hard to look past their midfield power and set-piece prowess as the keys to this contest.

Michael Carrick is prepared for a "big challenge" at table-topping Arsenal but says there is a quiet confidence around Manchester United after last weekend's derby triumph.

The former Red Devils midfielder, captain and coach enjoyed a fine start to life as head coach by masterminding last weekend's impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City.

United deserved to win by a greater scoreline and take the confidence from that surprise success to north London, where a clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal awaits on Sunday afternoon.

Before every game at Emirates Stadium, Martin Odegaard lifts the lid on the mood in the camp via his captain’s notes published in the matchday programme.

Ahead of today's game against Manchester United, Martin writes about the ebbs and flows of the title race, what the squad get up to on their travels and understanding the history of our rivalry with United. Here is a snippet:

Our last league game was away to Nottingham Forest last Saturday, and that turned out to be a frustrating afternoon for us. We weren’t at our best on the day, and of course we wanted to take advantage of the other results. We gave everything for the win, but it wasn’t to be. I think we created enough to score the goal we needed, while also not giving them anything at all at the other end, but we know we could have done a lot better there. On those occasions, you need to be able to do enough to squeeze the win from your performance, and we can improve on that. So it’s frustrating we didn’t take the three points, but at the same time we take the point and move on. Looking at that weekend overall, we gained a point on the teams around us, so that’s the positive side. It you look at the results in the Premier League over the past few weeks, it’s a great example of what we say a lot – anyone can take points from anyone in this league. It’s why you can’t afford to let your standards drop for a single moment.

The Champions League, Europa League and Conference League are back and GOAL breaks down what's at stake for Americans playing in the competitions.

After a month-and-a-half-long hiatus, both the Champions League and Europa League are back, and there are no shortage of U.S. Men's National Team stars in position to play important roles in these first European games of 2026.

Both competitions are in the sixth match of their eight-game league phase and, crucially for the American players involved, there is still everything to play for. No team has been eliminated, and even at the top of the table no one has secured a seeded spot in the knockout rounds. With two matches remaining, results still matter for everyone chasing their objectives.

Nottingham Forest vs. Arsenal: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

Arsenal can extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League table with victory at Nottingham Forest.

A stalemate with Liverpool saw Arsenal miss out on the opportunity to move eight points clear of challengers Manchester City and Aston Villa, but back-to-back victories over Portsmouth and Chelsea in the cup competitions have seen them rediscover their winning mojo.

Just two sides have conquered Arsenal this season as they continue to look unflappable in their fight for silverware on four fronts, with Nottingham Forest—then under Ange Postecoglou—simply no match for the north Londoners back in September. Martín Zubbimendi’s surprise brace condemned the Midlands side to a 3–0 defeat.
