Molineux plays, Australia ring changes for first Windies T20I

Tahlia McGrath, Megan Schutt and Alana King return for the first T20I in St Vincent

Australia have recalled an experienced trio for the first T20I against West Indies in St Vincent, with the tourists batting first after Sophie Molineux won the toss.

Vice-captain Tahlia McGrath, veteran quick Megan Schutt and leg-spinner Alana King have all been named in Australia's XI after sitting out the T20Is against India at home last month.

They replace Annabel Sutherland, who is sitting out the Caribbean tour, Grace Harris and Darcie Brown from Australia's most recent T20I XI.

TEAMS: Blues make three changes, Tigers get a boost

The teams are in for Thursday night's game in round one

CARLTON has dropped recruit Liam Reidy after one game for his new club, while Blake Acres is also missing for Thursday night's game against Richmond.

Reidy, recruited from Fremantle in the off-season, played just 61 per cent game time against Sydney last week and has been replaced in the Blues' side by fellow ruck Hudson O'Keefe.

Acres (shoulder) was a chance to return after getting through a VFL game last week, but he's been left out, although Lachie Cowan (calf) and Matt Carroll (hamstring) have been recalled.

Adam Saad (hamstring) and Ashton Moir (omitted) are the other outs for the Blues.

NAB veteran to retire as new CFO Inder Singh steps in

National Australia Bank (NAB) has announced executive leadership changes, with long‑serving group executive Shaun Dooley (pictured left) planning to retire and incoming finance chief Inder Singh (pictured right) set to start in March.

Dooley, a 33‑year veteran of the bank, has been group chief risk officer (CRO) since October 2018 and was appointed acting group chief financial officer (CFO) on 18 March 2025.

NAB said Dooley intends to retire by the end of 2026. He will continue as CRO while the bank recruits his successor, ensuring continuity in a key control role.

As group CRO, Dooley has led the risk function across the NAB Group, heading a team of specialist risk professionals providing review and challenge, advice, and guidance on financial and non‑financial risks to all business and enterprise units. Before this, he served as NAB Group treasurer, managing the bank’s capital, funding, liquidity and balance sheet risk across Australia and offshore operations.

Qantas is overhauling its frequent flyer program to entice members to climb its vaunted membership tiers, in changes designed to prevent customers from switching to rival schemes.

The reforms, described by the airline as the “biggest changes to status in program history”, have been unveiled during a hugely profitable period for Qantas, with revenue rising across its domestic, international and loyalty scheme businesses.

On Thursday, Qantas announced planned changes to the loyalty scheme to allow members to roll over some of their status credits – the currency used to determine membership tiers – helping people reach or maintain high levels such as gold and platinum.

The airline’s record profit demonstrates Vanessa Hudson’s big growth plan. But it also shows there will be turbulence to go through to get there.

The last time Qantas delivered a record profit, in August 2023, it turned out to be the beginning of the end for Alan Joyce. That result quickly came to be used as evidence that the national carrier had got the balance between customers, staff and shareholders badly wrong.

Late Changes: Pre-season Challenge v Penrith Panthers

Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach, Benji Marshall has made changes to the 28-man squad that was announced for the Wests Tigers Pre-season Challenge fixture against the Penrith Panthers.

The Tigers play host to the Panthers at Leichhardt Oval as part of a double-header on Friday, 20 September – kicking off in the second match of the evening at 8.10pm.

Marshall has named a combination of NRL Top 30, Development, NSW Cup and Wests Tigers Pathways players across an extended squad – bringing in several senior players who sat out the Tigers 42-26 victory over the Sydney Roosters at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Kai Pearce-Paul will have to wait until the season proper to make his first Wests Tigers appearance, with the second rower omitted from the match day squad as a precaution due to calf tightness – Alex Seyfarth takes his place in the starting side.

Friday night footy: Wests Tigers v Panthers; Dolphins take late win over Warriors

A buzzing home crowd were at hand at Leichhardt Oval to take in a Witzer Pre-Season Challenge double-header where plenty of points were scored.

The Warriors and Dolphins rounded out their pre-season campaigns in the opening match, with the Dolphins stealing a late 38-34 win in a high-scoring game with plenty of tries.

Trai Fuller impressed in his outing at fullback, scoring a try, but both sides will be focusing on staying in the game longer for their Round 1 matches.

Hometown heroes Wests Tigers then tackled the powerhouse Panthers in a mouth-watering clash to close out the evening, securing a late 26-12 victory.

South Africa have won the toss and chosen to bowl first against UAE in their T20 World Cup 2026 match on what captain Aiden Markram called a tacky pitch in Delhi. UAE captain Muhammad Waseem said he wanted to bowl first as well.

Weather also played a part in his decision – there was a drizzle just ten minutes before the toss, which forced parts of the ground to be covered.

Having already secured their place in the Super Eight, South Africa made four changes, pretty much emptying out their bench, mainly giving their premier bowlers a rest. They brought in Jason Smith, Kwena Maphaka and Anrich Nortje for their first games of the tournament, and also brought George Linde back. They left out David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi.

South Africa opted to field first and restricted United Arab Emirates to 6-122 on Wednesday with veteran pace bowlers Corbin Bosch returning 3-12 from four overs and Anrich Nortje taking 2-28.

The South Africans raced to 4-123 in 13.2 overs, taking the last seven runs in singles after their fourth wicket fell.

New Delhi (AFP) – South Africa sent a T20 World Cup warning to co-hosts India after romping to a six-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates in New Delhi on Wednesday.

After restricting the Emiratis to 122-6 on a pitch enlivened by morning rain, South Africa raced to 123-4 in just 13.2 overs to complete a perfect group phase with four wins out of four.

Next up for Aiden Markram's side is a repeat of the 2024 final against India in Ahmedabad on Sunday in their first match of the Super Eights.

India won the final in Barbados to lift the trophy and are firm favourites to repeat on home soil.

From Thursday, the maximum cost of medicines on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme will be slashed from $31.60 to $25 – the lowest the co-payment has been since 2004, saving Australians over $200 million each year.

The cost-of-living measure, which was announced by the Albanese government in July, kicks in at the same time as a number of support payments are automatically increased in line with indexation.
