New York City FC v FC Cincinnati: Noonan admits visitors are falling short of expectations
Pat Noonan admits his FC Cincinnati team have performed well beneath expectations at the start of this MLS season, ahead of Wednesday's visit to New York City FC.
The Orange and Blue have been consistent challengers for the MLS Cup in recent years, finishing in the top three of the Eastern Conference in each of the last three seasons.
But after eight matches of 2026, they are 10th in the East following two wins, two draws and four defeats.
They fought back to salvage a 3-3 draw against the Chicago Fire last time out, having found themselves two goals down with only 11 minutes to play.
Brazilian Best: Evander makes MLS history with late goal
Just when it looked as though FC Cincinnati were going to fall short in a wild Wednesday night matchup vs. New York City FC, Brazilian superstar Evander came up clutch to make history at Yankee Stadium.
The Cincy No. 10's 95th-minute penalty, which secured an incredible 4-4 draw, was the 44th tally of his MLS career, giving him the record for most goals scored by a Brazilian-born player in league history.
The goal capped a spectacular FCC comeback highlighted by an earlier Kévin Denkey brace. It was also Evander's second in as many games, after the two-time MLS Best XI honoree opened the 2026 season without a goal in nine straight matches across all competitions.
