Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens debate what Antoine Semenyo will bring to Manchester City ahead of his potential move from AFC Bournemouth. (0:55)

Manchester City have completed a deal for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, the club have confirmed.

The 26-year-old has moved to the Etihad Stadium for an initial fee of £62.5 million ($84m) with another £1.5m ($2m) due in potential add-ons.

He has signed a five-and-a-half year deal until 2031 after completing a medical on Thursday.

Semenyo has been registered in time for the weekend and could make his City debut in the FA Cup third round tie against League One side Exeter City on Saturday.

‘Might still be a twist’: Bombshell Liverpool claim as $130m star delivers stunning parting gift

Antoine Semenyo has delivered what will likely be a stunning parting gift to Bournemouth amid claims there could be a late twist ahead of his reported $130 million switch to Manchester City.

Semenyo ensured his likely last game for the Cherries was a memorable one, scoring a stoppage time winner to clinch a dramatic 3-2 win over Totthenham on Thursday (AEDT).

The in-form Ghana international had already become the league’s most in-demand player before his latest heroics, with leading football reporter Fabrizio Romano reporting on Wednesday Semenyo had chosen to join City because of a desire to work under Pep Guardiola, with a transfer now subject only to medical tests.

Semenyo says he is aiming to get City into the title race

Antoine Semenyo says he has arrived at Manchester City with the intention of getting the club back into the Premier League title race. The £62.5m signing joins a team six points behind the leaders, Arsenal, with 17 matches remaining.

The 26-year-old’s transfer from Bournemouth, who could receive £1.5m in add-ons and are due 10% of any future profit, was confirmed on Friday and Semenyo could make his debut against Exeter in the FA Cup on Saturday. City fought off competition from Liverpool and Manchester United to secure his signature.

Antoine Semenyo, it seems likely, will soon join Manchester City from Bournemouth for a fee of £65m. Given how well Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden have played from the right this season, it is not immediately obvious why City need him, but the modern game is the modern game, the rammed calendar makes large and flexible squads essential and Pep Guardiola may have some esoteric plan for the Ghanaian anyway. But perhaps what is most striking about the deal is the fee – or, more precisely, how little attention it has drawn.

English football has become inured to big transfers. The fee feels about right. Semenyo is 25. He has four and a half years left on his contract. He is quick, skilful, intelligent and works hard. He is disciplined, but has the capacity to do the unexpected. Of course a player of his ability costs that much. Yet £65m would make him the third-most expensive player in Bundesliga history. He would be the seventh-most expensive in Serie A history, the 14th-most expensive in La Liga history. Only nine non-English clubs have paid a fee higher than that. Even in Premier League terms, Semenyo sneaks into the top 25.

How to watch today's Manchester City vs Chelsea Premier League game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

How to watch the Premier League match between Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as kick-off time and team news.

Manchester City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium in one of the standout fixtures of Gameweek 20 in the Premier League. City, currently second in the league table, are aiming to maintain their title challenge and bounce back after being held to a 0–0 draw by Sunderland in their last outing.

The Cityzens’ overall form has been excellent this season — unbeaten in their last nine matches across competitions, with eight wins and one draw. They have one of the league’s most potent attacks – having scored 43 goals so far – largely thanks to Erling Haaland’s contribution. Pep Guardiola’s side are not just prolific in attack, but they also have a strong defensive record alongside leaders Arsenal, making them favourites at home against Chelsea.

Stoke City v Sheffield United: Championship stats & head-to-head

Thomas Cannon returned to the bet365 Stadium to haunt former club Stoke as the Irish striker scored Sheffield United's winner.

Cannon was starring on loan for Stoke last season before Leicester recalled him and sold him to the Blades for an initial £10m in January.

He has found goals harder to come by at United and this strike was only his third of the season as the visitors made it five wins on the bounce against Stoke to get over their Boxing Day bashing at Wrexham.

Jairo Riedewald had opened the scoring with his first United goal before Cannon's effort but Ben Wilmot halved the deficit to set up a nervy finale, only for Stoke's Ben Pearson to be dismissed late on for fouling Patrick Bamford.

Wilder Demands More Consistency From the Blades: “Consistency is Key in Everything”

Sheffield United round off their 2025 campaign with a Monday night trip to the Bet365 Stadium, where they will face Stoke City in the final game of the calendar year for both sides.

Stoke’s season began in impressive fashion, with the Potters quickly establishing themselves as early contenders. However, that momentum has slowed in recent weeks. They have managed just one win in their last six Championship outings, with inconsistency creeping into their performances. Their most recent result summed up that frustrating run: a goalless draw at home to Preston North End on Boxing Day, a game in which chances were limited and cutting edge was lacking.

Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County: Ten-man Rams hold Blues to draw

Ten-man Derby County held Birmingham City to a draw in a feisty encounter at St Andrew's in which both sides had a player sent off.

The visitors took the lead through Patrick Agyemang on 27 minutes but were forced to play more than half the match a man down after Joe Ward was dismissed just before the interval after picking up his second yellow card.

Jack Robinson equalised, and Birmingham also ended the match with 10 men after skipper Christoph Klarer was sent off in stoppage time for a high-footed challenge.

This was a controversial and hot-tempered match, with Klarer lucky to escape a second yellow card earlier in the second half before his karate-style challenge on Ebou Adams.

Predicting Javi Gracia's Watford XI to take on Leicester City on Boxing Day

Watford travel to Leicester on Boxing Day aiming, once again, to back up one win with another for the first time this season.

Here is how I see Javi Gracia lining up for the match.

Though he produced some grumbles with his propensity to punch rather than catch, Selvik looked solid against Stoke.

He will line up again at Leicester having very much claimed the gloves back from Nathan Baxter.

Ngakia returned to the side and did well against Stoke, getting forward less often in a more reserved team display but solid defensively.

His minutes will need to be managed over Christmas and new year but he is a likely starter here.

You just look at Brighton sometimes and they're not sure what they are in the final third, or what they're trying to do. A reluctance to cross the ball makes you think it's off the cuff.

Kevin Schade leads a counter-attack and plays Mikkel Damsgaard in with a stunning cross-field switch.

The Dane takes a touch to set himself and then prods his finish past Jose Sa. The ball bounces just wide of the far post.

Preview | Swansea City v Wrexham

Swansea City and Wrexham lock horns for the first time in 20 years as they meet under the lights at the Swansea.com Stadium this evening (8pm).

The teams last faced each other in Swansea in the final game at our former Vetch Field home in May 2005, and both clubs have been on very different journeys in the intervening period.

The hosts are seeking to record a third home league win in a row, while Wrexham have lost just one of their last 11 games in the Championship.

Swans boss Vitor Matos has reported no new injury concerns ahead of this fixture.

Wrexham lose late! Adam Idah scores injury-time winner for Swansea as Phil Parkinson's side continue five-game winless run with dismal performance in Welsh derby

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo made a last-gasp howler as Swansea City came from behind to earn a dramatic 2-1 Championship victory over Wrexham in the Welsh derby on Friday evening. Second-half goals from Zan Vipotnik and Adam Idah helped Vitor Matos' side earn all three points after Phil Parkinson's visitors had taken the lead thanks to an own goal from defender Cameron Burgess.

In the first league fixture between the two sides for 22 years, Swansea calved out an early opening when in-form striker Vipotnik fashioned half a yard of space on the edge of the box, only for his shot to be blocked in the nick of time.

Swansea v Wrexham – the 'derby' which catches the eye

Wrexham have 15 wins compared to Swansea's eight in the 30 previous league games between the clubs

Swansea City versus Wrexham. Wales' most successful side this century against the one with perhaps the grandest ambitions.

The club who thrived for a while in the Premier League against the team who will not be satisfied until they get there.

South-west Wales versus north, Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric against Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Swansea versus Wrexham is a game that would always have caught the eye in Wales.

But these days it is a fixture with much wider appeal, thanks largely to the star names in the clubs' respective boardrooms.

The holders Newcastle make six changes to the side that began the 1-0 defeat at Sunderland. Fabian Schär, Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock, Jacob Ramsey and Yoane Wissa are in; Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga and Nick Woltemade drop to the bench, while Dan Burn and Lewis Hall are injured.

Fulham make four changes to the XI that started the 3-2 win at Burnley, and three of them are enforced. Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Calvin Bassey are all away at the Afcon with Nigeria, so in come Jorge Cuenca, Saša Lukić and Kevin. Meanwhile Benjamin Lecomte replaces Bernd Leno in goal.

Keith Andrews issues team news update ahead of Manchester City Carabao Cup quarter-final

Frank Onyeka and Dango Ouattara have joined up with the Nigeria and Burkina Faso squads respectively ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, while the trip to Manchester comes too soon for Reiss Nelson.

"Dango and Frank have gone to AFCON, so we'll miss them both," Andrews confirmed.

"Reiss won't make this one. We've pushed him as much as we can. He's not too far off but tomorrow comes a bit too soon, unfortunately.

"There definitely hasn't been a setback, it was just a case of whether we felt it was right [to play Nelson against Leeds United]. We looked at his training loads and where he was at, and we felt it would have been a bit of a risk.

There were many whispers about how good a season Birmingham City could have as they returned to the Championship after a record-breaking season in League One.

Early doors, though, the side didn't really meet those lofty expectations. Sure, they managed to win games here and there but seemed destined for the mediocrity of mid-table.

There was even some suspicion boss Chris Davies was under real pressure but as if by magic, the 40-year-old appears to have found the solution.
