Shrinking Season 3 Episode 10 Recap: Jimmy Hits His Breaking Point

The end is nigh as the close of Season 3 of Shrinking looms, the feelings of resentment, sacrificial love, and displaced anger take center stage this week for the Apple original series centered on mental health and relationships.

We are now standing on the eve of Alice Laird’s (Lukita Maxwell) graduation, a milestone event that has brought her grandfather back into her and her father’s lives. However, widowed therapist Jimmy Laird, played by Jason Segel, is still silently seething about his father, Randy’s, selfish bailout on his daughter’s special day.

At the start of the penultimate episode for the season, the Laird trio are hanging with neighborhood friends Liz (Christa Miller) and Brian (Michael Urie), with Baby Sutton in tow, for some adorable friend time, just ahead of the revelry. Jimmy’s dad, played by Jeff Daniels, uses the baby visit to, once again, get his digs in at Jimmy’s expense with childhood memories that no one asked to relive, least of all Jimmy.

Shrinking Season 3, Episode 9 Review: ‘Daddy Issues’

A period of change causes the characters to reflect on what they want in Shrinking Season 3, Episode 9, “Daddy Issues.” The episode, written by Rachna Fruchbom and directed by Anu Valia, is a real testament to how far they’ve come and how much longer they still have to go. One of the best and most realistic things about Shrinking is that it knows life ebbs and flows.

Development never moves in one direction all of the time. So, it’s reassuring to watch these characters make great strides but also stumble and figure out how to get back up. “Daddy Issues” demonstrates just that while propelling Shrinking into the final two episodes of the season’s “moving forward” theme.

BTN Classroom Episode 8 – Behind The News

Hey, I'm Amelia Moseley and you're watching BTN. Thanks for joining us again. Let's see what's coming up in today's show. We find out why it may be getting harder to predict the weather. Meet Australia's youngest Winter Olympian and learn about the life of living legend Jackie Huggins.

INTRO: But before we get to that, let's have a look at military alliances. Last week, the US president criticised some of his country's allies for not wanting to get involved in the war in Iran. So why would countries choose to team up or not team up when it comes to conflict? Here's Wren to tell us more.

Gen Z Gender Roles – Behind The News

JOE BARONIO, BTN REPORTER: If you watch TV shows from the 1950s, you get a fairly black-and-white picture of the roles men and women should play in a family.   1950s TV SHOW: Well, whenever we cook inside, Mom always seems to cook it, but whenever we cook outside, you always do it. How come? Well, sort of traditional, I guess. You know, they say a woman’s place is in the home, and I suppose as long as she’s in the home, she might as well be in the kitchen.   This is what some people call "traditional" gender roles, with a woman as the homemaker and the man as the breadwinner. But it's something that society has long since left behind, right?   PERSON: I feel like we've got much more diversity now in like, in Gen Z. I just think it wouldn't really work in our society anymore yeah.   PERSON: I think generations like boomers then maybe more likely to have more gender roles embedded in their like lifestyle, I guess.  PERSON: Personally, I think like older generations, like maybe boomers, because that's what they grew around.  PERSON: But I also think it's passed down to our parents, so like millennials.  PERSON: Yeah kind of like what they’re saying, like boomers, because I feel like now we like to challenge stereotypes and just go against gender roles.

Are Gen-Z Men Regressing? What A Global Survey Reveals About Changing Gender Attitudes

A recent survey showed a troubling retrogression amongst Gen-Z men in the context of romantic partnerships and desire. But why exactly is a progressive generation backsliding into preferring patriarchal relationship dynamics?

A controversial survey by the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London caused quite the stir some weeks ago. The college survey, ironically conducted for women's day, showed a marked reversal in the Gen-Z men surveyed about the kind of power dynamic they were after in their romantic relationships.

While I’ll get into the specifics of that survey in a minute, it’s also interesting to note that, right on the heels of this report, Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere, a documentary by renowned documentarian and journalist Louis Theroux (best known for his choice of controversial, unsympathetic subjects), examining the lives and reach of the ‘red pill’ male influencer dropped on Netflix. On the surface, Inside The Manosphere showed us the same situation from a different lens. It was meant to spotlight the heinousness and hypocrisy of this kind of ‘alpha bro’ influencer; to expose the fraudulent philosophies (and side hustles) they had risen to fame by propagating. It was meant to pull back the curtain on the horror of this growing cult, of young men that were drawn in by the misogynist ‘manosphere’, premised in the world view that the world was ‘feminist-dominated and oppressive to men.’ But when you look closer, the film points at the same thing as the survey; that a lot of young men across the world are leaning into this ideology. While Theroux’s documentary focuses on the most extreme end of this spectrum, and progressive men err to the other end of it (believing fully in equal rights, respect and partnership), the men in this survey reflect a sizeable section of Gen-Z men who fall into the grey area of this worldview.

After 500 episodes and a big twist, ‘NCIS’ continues to thrive with no signs of stopping

This is read by an automated voice. Please report any issues or inconsistencies here.

We’re used to seeing the intrepid team of naval special agents on CBS’ crime procedural “NCIS” working together to solve the toughest cases and bring down the worst villains. But even they may be stumped when faced with the gargantuan challenge of coming up with a deserving story to encapsulate the unique feat of producing 500 episodes of television.

But the team can rest easy since that job fell to “NCIS” showrunner and executive producer Steven D. Binder, who wrote Tuesday’s episode, “All Good Things” (with José Clemente Hernandez directing). He shares that ideas began popping up in his mind when the show’s 22nd season was wrapping up last year. “I started thinking ‘What questions should I be asking?’ I knew it had to be something big that resonates with the fans and should be worthy of the 500th,” he says.

Paradise season 2 episode 7 recap: Setting the stage

We all make plans. Sometimes those plans go just as expected. Sometimes they don’t. In the penultimate episode of Paradise season 2, we get a lot of discussion of plans. We also get a lot of consideration of what happens when a plan goes to an unexpected place.

It sets the stage for an explosive season finale, and “The Final Countdown” certainly gets all the pieces in place.

In the cold open, we flash back to before the world melted down. Sinatra (Julianne Nicholson) and Anders (Erik Svedberg-Zelman) are providing a tour for President Bradford (James Marsden). More than just a chance to get Marsden back in the show, this is a means of explaining how the bunker works. It’s a marvel, and it’s complex.

No new episode of 'Memory of a Killer' this week. What to know

Angelo Doyle (Patrick Dempsey), for years, had seamlessly "built and maintained a brick wall" between his two lives – one as a fearsome hitman in New York City and the other as a loving suburban father – in Fox's thriller series "Memory of a Killer."

But when his memory begins to fail him due to early-onset Alzheimer's, everything starts to unravel.

The upcoming Episode 5 will take viewers back into Angelo's past as he "remembers a pivotal moment in his life, 5 years ago, when he learned his brother had Alzheimer’s and Angelo was forced to make a life-changing decision," according to the episode's synopsis.

You Only Need 4 Hours To Catch Up On Fox's Trending New Crime Thriller Series

Fox's new crime thriller series is killing its way to the top of streaming.

Crime thriller series have been finding great success in 2026 so far. Some of the shows in the genre to pop off early in the new year include Netflix's Run Away and His & Hers, Prime Video's Cross, AMC+'s Dark Winds, and more. One of the biggest thriller series on streaming in 2026 thus far is a Fox crime show.

Memory of a Killer follows the story of Patrick Dempsey's Angelo Doyle, a hitman who keeps his personal life with his family separate from his bloody adventures. However, as he develops early-onset Alzheimer's, the lines begin to blur, and with someone making a movie against his daughter, Angelo's life becomes unpredictable quite fast. The crime thriller series has become a streaming sensation.

Marketed as a comedy, the show is more of a light-touch drama, and it manages to sketch a fractious depiction of love that many will relate to

How do you create interesting drama themed around a dog park? If you’ve been to one before, it doesn’t exactly scream “riveting”. I approached the ABC’s new six-part series wondering: will random people from the dog park meet and bonk? Will various disputes erupt, perhaps over where the off-leash area begins and ends? Will class wars break out between the bourgeoisie (chihuahuas), the working class (German shepherds) and the unemployed aristocracy (greyhounds)?

If you’re drawn to the ABC’s Dog Park solely for the dogs, or stumble upon it thinking it’s a companion piece to the new season of Muster Dogs, you might come away disappointed. Sure, it features a pack of loveable pups, but they’re not the main attraction. This smartly written six-part series turns around contemporary lives and relationships with humour and wisdom. Come for the doggy meet-cute, stay for the human comedy.

Leon Ford plays grumpy misanthrope Roland, who’s crash-landed into an unhappy middle age. His gregarious wife Emma (Brooke Satchwell) is on the verge of accepting a dream job overseas and effectively ending their already shaky marriage. His teenage daughter Mia (Florence Gladwin) barely acknowledges his existence. His main focus in life is day-drinking, complaining about the annoyances of the modern world and wondering where it all went wrong.

This new ABC show is Celia Pacquola’s dream gig (just don’t ask about Bluey)

As a child, Celia Pacquola desperately wanted a cat. It never came to be, largely because she lived in the Yarra Valley bush and her mother loved birds too much, but her feline dream never went away.

So it surprised even her when years later she and a housemate – fellow comedian Kelly Fastuca – decided to adopt a dog shortly before the COVID-19 lockdowns. Jimmy Chocolate Chip, a rescue somewhere between a terrier and a chihuahua, came first… followed by Deirdre Chambers (another rescue dog, not the beautician from Muriel’s Wedding). Suddenly, life was all about the dogs.

“I just love them. If someone says, ‘I hate dogs’, I don’t want to hang out with them,” says Pacquola, a comedian and actress best known for Rosehaven and Utopia. “If you walk into a shop and there’s an unexpected dog there, it’s like, ‘My day just got 20 per cent better.’ ”

Well, this was a classic penultimate episode of television: a lot of setup, new twists placed on a simmer, and a little self-contained action to make the whole enterprise worthwhile. Most curious of the handful of late-stage reveals we get in this episode is probably around Steph’s pre-war ordeal as part of the Canadian resistance; in Fallout lore, Canada was annexed by America some years before the world ended. In the cold open, we see her escape an internment camp alongside another woman — I think it’s supposed to be her mom, going by the “raised you Catholic” line — and they’re almost caught before a fellow freedom fighter suicide bombs the power-armoured grunt who threatens to wrangle them up. Steph’s mom is hit with shrapnel, and before she dies, leaves her with chilling advice: “Don’t think of them as human beings. Think of them as Americans.” Something has always been more than a little off with the overseer of Vault 32, and this episode provides a clarifying window into her air of sociopathy. It stands to reason that if she doesn’t think of the vault dwellers as human, it would be a breeze for her to subject them to Vault-Tec’s experimental misdeeds. It makes sense why they hired her.
