    Ford Ranger and Everest recalled

    Ford has issued another recall for a software fault affecting the transmission in Ranger and Everest models produced between 2017 and 2019.

    Ford Australia is recalling over 2500 examples of its popular Ranger and Everest as a software issue, the subject of a previous recall, could result in a loss of power.

    "Due to a software issue, the transmission fluid pump gears could fail while driving. This may cause a loss of hydraulic fluid pressure in the transmission, resulting in a loss of motive power," the company says in its recall notice.

    "A loss of motive power could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupant and other road users."

    Ford Ranger and Everest recalled again over transmission fault

    The recall affects certain Ranger vehicles built between December 19, 2017, and September 20, 2019, along with certain Everest vehicles built between November 27, 2017, and June 29, 2019.

    Listed as recall REC-006659 (↗), the issue relates to the transmission fluid pump gears, which could fail while driving due to a software fault. If the gears fail, the transmission may lose hydraulic fluid pressure, resulting in a loss of motive power.

    Ford says a loss of motive power could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users. The recall is a re-notification and extension of previous recall REC-000320 (↗) issued in June 2020. Ford has confirmed that this is a continuation of a previous recall, as more than 2500 customers hadn’t had the previous recall completed.

    F1 star lights up Goodwood in Ford Supercar

    Arvid Lindblad had his hands full in the Gen3 Ford Mustang

    Jamie Whincup handed the reins of a Gen3 Ford Supercar to Formula 1 rookie Arvid Lindblad at Goodwood — and the teenager had his hands full.

    Whincup and Triple Eight are making a cameo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a Gen3 Mustang.

    The seven-time Supercars champion handed the Ford over to Racing Bulls F1 driver Lindblad, who performed a series of burnouts in front of the large crowd.

    During the demonstration, Lindblad was nearly hit by Ellen Lohr’s DTM-spec Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The two cars made gentle contact.

    ‘Arvid got [the engine] up to about 120 [degrees], so hopefully it keeps going,” Whincup joked.

    F1 star narrowly avoids disaster doing skids in Supercar

    During a demonstration on Saturday, Lindblad performed a series of doughnuts in the Red Bull Ampol Racing Ford Mustang.

    However, while that was happening, Ellen Lohr was released in her DTM-spec Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

    With cold carbon brakes, Lohr struggled to slow down and came within centimetres of the preceding car.

    Lohr stopped, but Lindblad grazed the front bumper of the famous Vodafone-backed Mercedes-Benz.

    Speaking on Saturday, Lindblad said he had enjoyed the chance to drive the Supercar.

    “It’s been amazing to see all the different cars – all so different from different generations of the sport, so many different years. It’s been really cool to see.

A new Wall Street Journal profile of Ford’s semi-secret EV project shows that Muñoz is absolutely correct.

    The Ford (NYSE: F) plan is yet another blunder by CEO Jim Farley, who has led Ford through failed EV projects since his company said in 2021 that the No. 2 car company would invest $20 billion by the end of 2025. The goal was to reach 40% of Ford's sales from EVs by 2030. Farlay said when the plan was announced, “This is our biggest opportunity for growth and value creation since Henry Ford started to scale the Model T, and we’re grabbing it with both hands."

    CarExpert understands the Bronco New Energy is due to arrive in Australia either late this year or early in 2027, with pricing expected to start from around $48,000 and stretch to just under $60,000.

    20-year-old Mount Gambier 'guru' races for Supercar title in Adelaide

    Ford partners with Amazon for dealers to sell used vehicles online

    DETROIT — Ford Motor is partnering with Amazon to let the automaker's franchised dealers sell certified preowned vehicles through the online retail giant.

    The new program will allow customers to secure financing, start paperwork and schedule a pickup time for the vehicles at participating Ford dealers, the companies announced Monday. Some steps, such as a final signature, may still need to be completed in person, Ford said.

    The deal comes two years after Amazon said it would allow auto dealers to sell cars through its site, starting with vehicles from South Korean automaker Hyundai.

    The deals between Amazon and the two automakers differ, though, as Hyundai's involves new vehicles rather than certified preowned. CPO vehicles are used but have been inspected, refurbished and certified by the manufacturer or dealer. They're considered a better quality of used vehicles than cars without the designation and have warranties, like a new vehicle.

    Legacy automaker Ford (F) opened up a new potential sales channel recently, though investors did not seem especially happy about the move. Ford got together with Amazon (AMZN) to offer up access to a used car inventory that is as easy to purchase as Amazon can make just about anything. But despite this, investors still pulled back, and sent Ford shares sliding nearly 3% in Monday afternoon’s trading.

    Those hoping for a brand new Ford on Amazon will be disappointed, as the Amazon cars are limited to used car inventory only. However, the vehicles available will be “certified pre-owned,” a class that comes with some extra protection. The vehicles will receive the standard Ford inspection and reconditioning, and will also get a Ford warranty. Some of the vehicles will even boast a money-back guarantee.
