    In a letter to the local mayor, the actor added that ‘whatever happens, they remain fully part of this community’ and will ‘contribute to its rebuilding’

    George and Amal Clooney have been forced to evacuate their home in south-eastern France as a wildfire burned nearby, his agent confirmed to Associated Press on Thursday.

    The Clooneys bought their hilltop estate, Domaine du Canadel, in Brignoles in the Var in 2021 and it has since become their primary residence. Last December, the French government awarded the whole family – including the couple’s nine-year-old twins – French citizenship.

    In a letter to Didier Bremond, the mayor of Brignoles, the actor wrote that while “at this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment and as we evacuate Brignoles”, he wanted to “emphasise two things”.

    Paris: Hollywood actor George Clooney and his British wife Amal, an international human rights lawyer, have evacuated their luxury home in south-eastern France as a result of the wildfires blazing in the region.

    The star behind the Ocean’s Eleven franchise and other films made the statement on Thursday (France time) in a letter to Didier Bremond, the mayor of the town of Brignoles, about 90 kilometres east of Marseille, Clooney’s publicist Guido Gotz said in an email.

    Addressed “Dear Didier”, the letter said the Clooneys had “no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment”.

    But as they evacuate Brignoles they wanted to assure Bremond that, whatever happened to the community, “we’ll be part of making it whole”, the letter said.

    George Clooney and family flee luxury French home as fires rage

    Paris | George Clooney and his family have been forced to evacuate their home in south-eastern France because of a bushfire burning nearby, his agent said on Thursday (Friday AEST).

    The Hollywood star behind the Ocean’s Eleven franchise and other films made the statement in a letter to Didier Bremond, the mayor of the town of Brignoles, some 90 kilometres east of Marseille.

    Arsenal are expected to step up their interest in Paris St-Germain's Bradley Barcola this week after receiving encouragement that the forward could be available this summer.

    BBC Sport understands representatives of Arsenal, who have been tracking Barcola for some time, intend to watch him again in France's World Cup last-32 match against Sweden on Tuesday night (22:00 BST)

    England forward Morgan Rogers, 23, is a leading target, but recent reports have indicated Aston Villa value him at £130m, which would prove a stumbling block.

    But Rogers is not the only attacker on Arsenal's radar with Barcola, also 23, viewed as a strong alternative option by the Gunners' recruitment staff.

    Arsenal 'given encouragement' to sign £116m Liverpool target instead of Morgan Rogers

    Arsenal have been given encouragement over the availability of Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, according to reports.

    The 23-year-old scored 13 goals in all competitions as PSG won Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season.

    However, Barcola was dropped for the Champions League final against Arsenal with Luis Enrique preferring to start Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack.

    Barcola, who is with France’s World Cup squad, has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.

    Russell put in a quick lap late in FP3 to grab the top spot, the first time he has beaten his team mate this weekend. But it did not initially look like he carried that momentum into Qualifying, with Antonelli fastest in both Q1 and Q2. The Italian also grabbed provisional pole with the first laps in Q3, looking nigh on unstoppable.

    Russell trailed team mate and championship leader Kimi Antonelli after the first Q3 runs, but the pole shootout was turned on its head across the second sequence of laps when Red Bull’s Max Verstappen crashed heavily and brought out the yellow flags.

    The Culture Club star joined the country’s 2026 entry SENHIT onstage in Vienna, Austria, during the first semi-final, where they performed her song “Superstar” together.

    Donning a variation of his signature oversized hat and emerging on a glittering throne – the theatrics were sadly not enough to secure the necessary votes for the pair to progress.

    Though they failed to secure the tiny nation a place in Saturday's showpiece, George met the disappointing news with a smile and a wave.

    Senhit, 46, was just as gracious in defeat after what was her fourth failed Eurovision title attempt.

    Magazines have been somewhat collectible for a while, but we've never seen anything in the non-sports space like we are seeing with "George" Magazine.

    Boosted by FX's anthology series, "Love Story," based on the romance of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, 70 copies of JFK Jr.'s defunct and unsuccessful play into publishing sold on eBay on Thursday alone.

    And since the show began on Feb. 12, more than 115 copies of the inaugural issue from Sept. 2005 with Cindy Crawford dressed as George Washington on the cover, have sold in the $200 to $400 range. One copy, that closed on March 27, had an astounding 71 bids.

    Who is Michael J. Berman, who founded the magazine George with JFK Jr?

    Berman – played by Michael Nathanson in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story – never reconciled with the Kennedy scion after a serious falling out in 1997

    The pair, who met as undergraduates at Brown University, co-founded the magazine in 1995. Two years later, Berman would sell his stake in the magazine and quit, following disagreements and even a reported physical altercation with JFK Jr. The magazine folded in 2001.

    San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle suffered an apparent injury in the second quarter of his team's wild-card game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    The injury occurred after Kittle caught a 6-yard pass from Brock Purdy on the right sideline. The veteran tight end tried to push off on his right leg as Eagles safety Marcus Epps approached to make the tackle but it gave out.

    Kittle remained down after the play and grabbed his right leg. The 49ers' medical staff came onto the field to tend to him. He was loaded onto the cart due to the injury and immediately taken back to the locker room.

    PHILADELPHIA − The San Francisco 49ers lost a key player on offense when tight end George Kittle was carted off the field with a lower leg injury.

    Kittle had just caught a short pass to the sideline when he was tackled by Eagles safety Marcus Epps. Kittle's ankle or foot appeared to bend backwards and he went to the ground.

    Kittle stayed down and was eventually carted off the field. The injury happened with 5:53 left in the second quarter, with the Eagles leading 13-7.

    Kittle has long been one of the 49ers' best offensive players. He had 628 yards receiving in 11 games this season.

    49ers TE George Kittle has limited practice

    49ers tight end George Kittle (ankle) had a limited practice on Wednesday.

    He played 40 of 42 snaps in the Week 18 loss to the Seahawks, making five catches for 29 yards, a week after missing the Week 17 game against the Bears.

    The 49ers practiced without left tackle Trent Williams (hamstring) and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle). Williams has not practiced since his injury early in the Week 17 game, and Pearsall aggravated his PCL injury against the Bears.

    Pearsall was limited in all three practices last week before missing the loss to the Seahawks.

    Linebacker Dee Winters (ankle), defensive end Keion White (groin/hamstring) and running back Christian McCaffrey (rest) also didn’t practice.
