Google’s first screenless fitness tracker is an amazing achievement, one that takes the concept of Whoop’s in-depth health analysis and opens it up to the masses with a budget price. The device itself is comfortable to wear, and although it does cost extra, the Gemini AI-powered Health Coach is the real cherry on top, making the process of setting up and sticking to a workout routine easier than ever.

Fitbit Air Review: Is It Really a Smartwatch Killer?

Google's $100 screenless health tracker is sleek, but it has a major blind spot.

After two weeks of having it practically glued to my wrist, the Fitbit Air is starting to grow on me. But I've also experienced some major smartwatch withdrawals.

I've lost count of how many times I've glanced down at my wrist expecting to see the time, only to be met with a blank band staring back at me like, "What?" Between that and the fact that it couldn't ping my phone, there were moments the Fitbit Air felt like it was freeloading on my wrist.

Former England striker Alan Shearer isn't worried about Match of the Day going the same way as Football Focus after the long-running BBC show was cancelled. The broadcaster confirmed the final episode of Football Focus will air this weekend, more than 50 years after it first graced our screens.

The move is part of a series of changes to the BBC's sports coverage which have seen high-profile shows find new homes. England's Six Nations fixtures have moved to ITV while the Boat Race is now shown on Channel 4.

Dan Walker makes BBC return as Alex Scott fights back tears live on air

Dan Walker made a return to the BBC to pay tribute on the final ever Football Focus programme, with the long-standing show set to end at the close of the season.

It was announced in late April that following more than 50 years on air, the television magazine programme would cease broadcasting.

During the opening moments of their broadcast, several presenters from across the years recorded messages, with Walker amongst them.

He left the broadcaster and Football Focus in 2022 to join Channel 5.

Present host Alex Scott was also featured in the package and appeared to be fighting back tears as she sat down for her interview.

‘Unprecedented’ global effort gives new name to polycystic ovary syndrome – and new hope to millions of women

Decades-long campaign powered by patient perspectives results in switch from PCOS – a name that caused confusion and undue suffering – to PMOS

What is PCOS, what are the symptoms and treatment, and why is it being renamed PMOS? ‘I still want to scream’: the loneliness and confusion of living with PMOS

After more than a decade of global consultation, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) – a condition that affects one in eight women – has been renamed.

The hormonal disorder, estimated to impact 170 million women worldwide, will now be known as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS).

The name change was published in the Lancet and announced at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Prague on Tuesday, after 14 years of collaboration between international societies and patient groups across six continents.

newsGP – PCOS officially renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome

PMOS for short, GPs say the landmark change not only lays to rest a medical misnomer, but will ‘empower’ their diagnoses.

After 14 years of campaigning, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) has been renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) in what has been described as a ‘landmark moment’.

The name change removes the emphasis from cysts and reflects the true nature of the condition as a complex, long-term hormonal or endocrine disorder.

It also places GPs at the centre of effective diagnosis and management of the condition that affects around one in eight women worldwide and can take up to 12 years to diagnose, says Associate Professor Magda Simonis, a GP with an interest in women’s health.

‘We’re really empowered now to make a diagnosis,’ she told newsGP.

‘We don’t need to focus on cysts and the size of cysts on ovaries as a diagnostic criterion, which PCOS always featured as the key criterion.’

The push for the name change, formally announced in Prague and published in The Lancet on Monday evening, has been led by Monash University’s Professor Helena Teede, alongside international experts and organisations, and people with lived experience.

The misunderstanding about ‘cysts’ and a focus on ovaries has led to missed diagnoses and inadequate treatment, said Professor Teede.

‘What we now know is that there is actually no increase in abnormal cysts on the ovary, and the diverse features of the condition were often unappreciated,’ Professor Teede said.

‘It was heartbreaking to see the delayed diagnosis, limited awareness and inadequate care afforded those affected by this neglected condition.

‘Make no mistake, this is a landmark moment that will lead to desperately needed worldwide advancements in clinical practice and research.’

International education and awareness campaigns for health professionals, governments and researchers will be rolled out across a three-year transition period, culminating in PMOS being fully implemented in the International Guideline update in 2028.

Associate Professor Simonis said it will allow GPs to confidently diagnose PMOS, with ‘an emphasis on lifestyle and listening to women’.

‘We can now do this with confidence,’ she said.

‘This is really emphasising the importance of addressing the woman’s full presentation. She may well come in not necessarily talking about irregular periods, but she might be talking about resistance to weight loss. She might be talking about her acne. It depends on the stage of life she’s at.’

Associate Professor Simonis said with the focus of PMOS on hormonal or endocrine disorders, there is now also more potential for GPs to identify women at future risk of other chronic diseases and provide early interventions.

‘When you think about capturing women who are at risk of late onset diabetes and cardiovascular disease, this falls into that really interesting preventative care category, where we can identify the women at risk and manage them appropriately,’ she said.

‘When such a significant endocrine disorder affects so many women, and with so many implications for their life down the track, lifestyle modification is really key, and this is the thing that, in general practice, we’re really well equipped to have these longer conversations with our patients.’

PCOS’s new name is PMOS, a small letter change that required a big scientific process

Annalisa (Nalis) Merelli is a contributing writer at STAT focused on boys’ and men’s health.

Revealed Tuesday, the one-letter change in nomenclature for a common metabolic condition in women may seem unremarkable, but it follows more than a decade of vigorous debate over the need for a name that more precisely and completely describes what until now was known as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

The revised name — polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, or PMOS — was introduced in a paper published in The Lancet and presented at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Prague. It was the nearly unanimous choice of a panel of clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates, although there remains some dissatisfaction — in part because retaining “ovarian” in the name doesn’t allow for the possibility, suggested by some early research, of a male form of the syndrome.

Ubisoft Gives Updates On Assassin's Creed Franchise, Including Hexe And Invictus, Alongside Black Flag Remake Tease

Last week, Ubisoft appointed three developers to a new leadership team in charge of the Assassin's Creed franchise, including making Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Origins creative director Jean Guesdon the new Head of Content for the series. Now, Ubisoft has delivered an overview of Assassin's Creed from Guesdon that details updates on Assassin's Creed Shadows, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus, and more, alongside a tease of a Black Flag remake.

We'll break it down below by game name, so let's jump into it:

Assassin's Creed Shadows launched last year on March 20, and turns one-year old in just a couple of weeks. Guesdon says as the team reaches this anniversary milestone, it is moving Shadows into its final phase of support. "We're winding things down with smaller, less frequent updates… but still a few surprises," Guesdon writes in a press release. "At the same time, our teams will begin shifting more focus toward what's next for Assassin's Creed."

Sussan Ley and David Littleproud on Sunday announced an 11th hour patch up of the federal Coalition that the Liberal leader hopes will hold off an early challenge from Angus Taylor.

But on Sunday night it was doubtful whether re-forming the Coalition would prevent Taylor, the opposition defence spokesman, moving this week, with some sources putting a challenge to Ley’s leadership at 50-50 probability.

Liberal leadership hopeful Angus Taylor has endorsed the Coalition reunion as his allies weigh a move against Opposition Leader Sussan Ley this week with a woman as Taylor’s running mate.

Ley and Nationals leader David Littleproud backed down on Sunday from previously hardline stances as they revived the Liberal-National alliance after a bitter 17-day split that exposed the pair’s antagonistic relationship and clashes over policy.

As first reported by this masthead on Saturday, Littleproud agreed to a six-week suspension for rebel Nationals who crossed the floor over hate crimes laws introduced last month following the Bondi terror attack. Ley watered down the suspension from six months.

UFC Star Gives Classy Response to Inappropriate Question About Ian Garry’s Family Amid Race to Fight Islam Makhachev

UFC rising welterweight star Ian Garry has attracted attention for several years, though not always for his fighting. Initially, fans knew him and his wife, Layla Machado Garry, as one of MMA’s power couples until they discovered she had written a book years ago titled How to Be a WAG. As a result, the book, essentially a guide on attracting younger athletes, sparked satirical and critical comments online. Recently, the controversy intensified when the name of Islam Makhachev’s potential opponent entered the conversation.

With the couple already having a 14-year age gap, the situation escalated further when Dillon Danis leaked DMs from Layla Garry dating back to 2018, prompting several UFC fighters to criticize Ian and post degrading remarks. UFC star Colby Covington notably asked in 2024, “How many of you guys have f–ked Ian Garry’s wife?” Now, the same question resurfaced at UFC 325 in Sydney during a Q&A session hosted by Carlos Prates.

Home » MMA News » Islam Makhachev » VIDEO | Islam Makhachev, Kamaru Usman separated by Khabib Nurmagomedov…

UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev and former titleholder Kamaru Usman appear to be on a collision course.

Almost immediately after defeating Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322, UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev called for a matchup with former titleholder Kamaru Usman for his first title defense. Usman, who returned with a win over Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta last summer, is regarded by many as one of the greatest fighters in Mixed Martial Arts history.

While fresh talent like Carlos Prates, Michael Morales, and Shavkat Rakhmonov make sense for Makhachev’s next fight, the newly-crowned welterweight titleholder remains insistent on fighting Usman next. The fight could come to fruition this spring, as the UFC puts together its 2026 event schedule.

Islam Makhachev and Kamaru Usman face off backstage at UFC 324

Islam Makhachev and Kamaru Usman face off, pushing for welterweight title fight.

Islam Makhachev and Kamaru Usman are doing their best to make a fight happen.

At UFC 322, Islam Makhachev dominated Jack Della Maddalena to claim the welterweight title, becoming just the 11th two-division champion in UFC history. Despite several other top contenders lined up at 170 pounds, Makhachev quickly started to call for his first title defense to come against former champion Kamaru Usman, a bout Usman has also lobbied for. And on Saturday, the two continued to try to push for this matchup.

Both Makhachev and Usman were in attendance at UFC 324 on Saturday, and during the event, the two fighters met up backstage to have a good-natured faceoff, with Khabib Nurmagomedov along for good measure.

Moving Forward, The Knee Is Still a Big Issue for Fritz

Taylor Fritz will likely be the top-ranked American (barring an upset of Jannik Sinner by Ben Shelton) after the Australian Open. But the American’s future is hard to predict after that, as a lingering knee issue has clouded the possibilities.

Fritz, who was defeated by Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets on Day 9, remains hopeful that he can simultaneously rehab his knee tendinitis and play through the season. But if we read into his words, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of clarity.

He entered the Australian Open thinking that if things didn’t improve, he may have to shut down his season for a stretch and focus 100 percent on getting the knee right. The knee clearly isn’t right, but the will to push on is still there for Fritz.

Playing through injuries, Taylor Fritz blames short off-season for slow start at Australian Open

Fritz began the year with a knee injury and eluded to other physical issues after a four-set win over Valentin Royer.

MELBOURNE, Australia—Tennis players are thought to be at their fittest when the season first gets underway, but Taylor Fritz pointed to the four-week off-season as responsible for more injured players at the Australian Open.

“Maybe the season is too long, I don't know,” Fritz said sarcastically after advancing past Valentin Royer, 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. “Maybe four weeks isn't enough to fully get healthy of all injuries.

“You know, it is what it is. You know, I think I laid a lot of groundwork in the off-season to get healthy. But at the same time the off-season is so short, you need to be like training hard in the off-season or else you come into the year feeling like you've not played enough matches or had enough time on court, which is very much how I feel.

Edwin Hodge To Guest Star On CBS Hit ‘Matlock’ For Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Edwin Hodge (FBI: Most Wanted, Winning Time) has been cast as a guest star on Season 2 of the hit CBS series Matlock, from Jennie Snyder Urman.

Hodge will play Langston, the kind of guy who can show up late, knowing he’ll charm everyone into forgetting about it as soon as he arrives. A double PhD in neuroscience and philosophy, he is a deep thinker… and a smooth talker.

The casting heralds Hodge’s return to CBS, following the conclusion of FBI: Most Wanted last year, in which he played the series regular role of Special Agent Ray Cannon across the show’s fourth to sixth seasons. The role will reunite him on screen with series star Skye P. Marshall, who plays Olympia Lawrence on Matlock. Hodge and Marshall previously co-starred on the short-lived CBS medical drama Good Sam (2002). The real-life couple was married in 2024.
