The sharpness of the 29-year-old’s career trajectory since leaving Manchester United for Napoli depicts a player who was underappreciated at the club of his youth and early professional years. McTominay left Manchester with a point to prove and did so with bells on, courtesy of a title win and the label of Serie A’s most valuable player in 2025. Should McTominay choose to leave Naples, where he is adored, he will not be short of Premier League options.

    How Scott McTominay Led Scotland Back to the World Cup

    In the short, shaky video that endeared Scott McTominay to me in perpetuity, he is smoking a cigarette and dancing with a white-haired S.S.C. Napoli fan to a forgettable Italian pop song. Drink, quite clearly, has been taken. With smoke streaming from his mouth and nose, McTominay twirls the delighted older man around. It’s a portrait of happy abandon, the kind that one rarely witnesses in the closely managed public lives of professional athletes, but there is also something winningly Mediterranean about the scene: two men of different generations celebrating together without embarrassment. McTominay was raised in Lancaster, England; joined the youth academy of his only previous club, Manchester United, as a five-year-old; and has now led Scotland, his father’s country, to its first World Cup in twenty-eight years. But in Naples—at the Serie A club that recruited him in the summer of 2024—much more than his play has been transformed. He is now un ragazzo napoletano, who loves to cook, to dress well, and, occasionally, to party.

    Coming to Disney Plus in July 2026 Includes Descendants Wicked Wonderland and the ESPYS

    Disney+ has revealed its full July 2026 lineup, headlined by the premiere of Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, the return of X-Men ’97 for its second season, the 2026 ESPYS, and the premiere of Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro.

    July opens strong on July 1 with the three-episode premiere of X-Men ’97 Season 2, the new Disney+ Original King & Prince: Our Meet-Up in LA, and Magicampers Season 1. The Simpsons gets a Disney+ exclusive episode titled “Simpsley” on July 3, the same day Disney Celebrates America begins its 24-hour ABC News Live programming run through July 4.

    Project Runway returns for its 22nd season on July 10, marking what Disney+ is calling the show’s biggest season ever with 22 designers, the most in the show’s history, competing under host Heidi Klum. Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro premieres July 13, hosted by wildlife conservationist and Season 34 Mirrorball winner Robert Irwin, featuring 12 up-and-coming dancers competing for a spot on Season 35 of the flagship series. Three-time Mirrorball champion Mark Ballas and his mother Shirley Ballas serve as judges.

    UK media celebrity Jeremy Clarkson this week revealed he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

    He told his co-stars about the diagnosis on air during the latest season of Clarkson’s Farm. At the time of filming, he said he didn’t know whether he would be back for another season. However, he said the cancer had been caught early and he was receiving treatment.

    So what does this actually mean? And what makes some cancers more aggressive than others?

    When doctors and scientists refer to a cancer being aggressive, they mean it’s fast-growing.

    This is the definition authorities, such as the National Cancer Institute in the United States or the Cancer Council Victoria in Australia, use.

    Presenter warns viewers of ‘sombre news’ before release of Clarkson’s Farm episodes, shot last year, in which he goes for operation

    Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he was diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer last summer and had an operation to remove 10% of his prostate, eight months after he underwent heart surgery for blocked coronary arteries.

    In the final two episodes of the fifth series of his Prime Video documentary, Clarkson’s Farm, the 66-year-old presenter told his farm manager, Kaleb Cooper, and his land agent, Charlie Ireland: “I’ve got cancer.”

    In the scenes, which were filmed last year and released on Tuesday night, the former Top Gear host added: “I had a medical, remember, back in May? I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer, and it’s aggressive.”

    Jeremy Clarkson announces cancer diagnosis in farm documentary series

    Television presenter Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

    The news was announced in an episode of the latest series of Clarkson's Farm, released on Wednesday. It is not clear exactly when the footage was filmed, but the series was shot in 2024 and 2025.

    Clarkson, 66, is seen telling series regulars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland of his diagnosis, both of whom were visibly shocked by the news.

    The former Top Gear presenter did not clarify what stage of cancer he had been diagnosed with, but described it as "aggressive" and that a portion of his prostate had been removed as part of his treatment.

    Australia’s huge and growing fleet of home batteries are delivering “enormous benefits” to the electricity grid, cutting system costs and power bills, even without being orchestrated as part of virtual power plants, the head of the Australian Energy Market Operator says.

    AEMO chief executive Daniel Westerman says the market operator has been surprised by the positive, system-wide impact that hundreds of thousands of “passive” home batteries have had on the grid, changing the shape of demand even without high levels of third-party orchestration.

    Westerman on Wednesday opened the Australian Energy Week 2026 conference in Melbourne with a market update that zeroed in on how batteries of all sizes are “fundamentally changing” the electricity system, while also changing the outlook for AEMO’s grid blueprint, the Integrated System Plan.

    Between Farmers Dylan, Alex and Jason, there was no shortage of flirting, awkward moments and wholesome conversations.

    The premise of the first episode is simple: each farmer spends a little one-on-one time with their prospective partners before narrowing the field down to the final five women they’ll take back to the farm.

    AFL, Seven News drives launch for Farmer Wants a Wife.

    Seven’s afternoon of AFL, including The Big Freeze, set itself up for a very big night of viewing.

    You only have to look at Seven News drawing a massive 1.75m viewers to see why the network strategically launched Farmer Wants a Wife at 7pm. It won the slot and led entertainment at 972,000.

    MasterChef Australia drew 704,00 beating 7:30 then 685,000, Australian Story (567,000) and a late change by Nine to A Remarkable Life: Richard Scolyer which will be adjusted to 426,000.

    Later Have You Been Paying Attention? drew 705,000 then Four Corners (534,000), Media Watch (518,000), The Rookie (458,000). In select cities were Footy Classified (150,000) and 100% Footy (116,000).

    Seven’s AFL was 930,000 in the arvo with The Big Freeze high at 903,000.

    During Newcastle’s clash with the Storm, Ponga came across in cover defence and saved a try with a shoulder charge on Will Warbrick.

    Ponga’s shoulder contacted the ball, forcing a knock on. It wasn’t picked up by the officials and play was allowed to carry on. He wasn’t placed on report either.

    Ponga sends scare through Origin camp with shoulder issue

    Kalyn Ponga sent a scare through Queensland Maroons camp after he went down clutching at his shoulder in Newcastle’s clash with the Storm.

    Ponga had two horror moments early in the second half when he threw a risky pass to Greg Marzhew deep in the Knights′ defensive territory.

    Marzhew dropped the ball and no urgency to kill the play as Alec MacDonald raced past him and picked it up before finding Jahrome Hughes.

    Hughes shrugged off Ponga in a one-on-one attempt and raced away to score.

    The try ultimately cost the Knights the lead as Ponga clutched at his shoulder on the ground.

    In this week’s On Background, the long road home for the new boss of ABC News, Tony Abbott’s duelling media and political careers, Sky News’ Great British expansion and 10News+ reaches new heights.

    There are more than 1000 journalists at the ABC, and several thousand more across Australia’s media industry. Almost all of them were Googling Simon Robinson’s name on Thursday, having never heard of the new ABC News boss.

    Robinson, the executive editor of global wire-agency Reuters, is an Aussie, but he’s been living and working outside the country during the 21st century. He has been stationed as far afield as Nairobi, Johannesburg, New Delhi and Baghdad before settling in London. It is, indeed, a triumphant homecoming.

    ABC appoints Reuters exec Simon Robinson as news director

    Simon Robinson has been appointed the ABC's next director of news, becoming the first external hire to fill the position in decades.

    Managing director Hugh Marks announced the appointment in an email to ABC staff on Thursday, saying, "Simon Robinson is one of the most experienced and respected newsroom leaders in global journalism."

    "His track record leading large, complex news operations and his deep commitment to fact‑based reporting make him an outstanding choice to lead the ABC's News division," Mr Marks said.

    Robinson replaces Justin Stevens who resigned on Wednesday after four years in the role citing "both professional and personal" reasons.

    The nation’s eSafety commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, has retained external lawyers as the regulator weighs enforcement action against social media platforms over Australia’s under-16 ban.

    Inman Grant has told a Senate estimates hearing that investigations into industry compliance remain ongoing nearly six months after the law took effect.

    By March there had been a 37 per cent reduction in under-16s holding accounts, she said, but she stopped short of declaring platforms compliant with the “reasonable steps” required under the legislation.

    “We do not have a fine-issuing button,” she told the Senate committee. “Systemic non-compliance needs to be proven in court with solid evidence and complex legal proceedings.”
