Victoria Mboko has a simple plan for quietening the vocal home crowd support expected for her Australian Open round one rival Emerson Jones – start winning.

The Canadian teen is the talk of the town after a stunning surge up the rankings, starting last year outside the top 300 and soaring to world No.16.

The rise seemed to have even surprised Mboko, who set herself a goal 12 months ago of being able to play in qualifying for the majors.

Stephen Fry’s Childhood Home Has Hit The Market

It is at Booton House where the actor first fell in love with the works of Oscar Wilde

Following last week’s news that Oscar Wilde’s bachelor digs – and inspiration behind The Importance of Being Earnest – were up for grabs, it seems only fitting that the former home of Wilde’s biggest fan, and recent Earnest star, Stephen Fry, should follow it onto the market.

The childhood home of actor, comedian, big-dog Faithful and all-round national treasure Stephen Fry is up for sale. While it doesn’t quite compare to the Traitors castle where the nation last watched him hunting down murderers and brushing up on his Shakespeare – for a seven-bedroom home (plus two-bedroom annexe) nestled in the Norfolk countryside, Booton House’s £1.3m guide price is an absolute steal.

Stephen Fry’s Former Childhood Home Listed for £1.3 Million

Booton House, the childhood residence of actor and comedian Stephen Fry, is currently on the market for £1.3 million. This prominent property is located in Booton, near Reepham and Aylsham, Norfolk.

The selling agent, Jackson-Stops, describes Booton House as a “fabulous seven-bedroom period property.” Spanning approximately 7,000 square feet, the main house boasts three floors of living space, plus a separate two-bedroom annexe.

The first floor hosts the master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, alongside three additional bedrooms served by a family bathroom. The second floor comprises three more bedrooms, one with an en-suite, plus another family bathroom.

The property is approached via metal gates leading to a gravel parking area. The landscaped grounds cover nearly one acre, featuring:

Seven-bedroom house where Stephen Fry grew up on sale for £1.3m

The childhood home of renowned actor and comedian Sir Stephen Fry has come onto the market with a guide price of £1.3million. The substantial property boasts an impressive living area situated on roughly an acre of land, featuring its own orchard and courtyard.

Booton House, located near the picturesque village of Reepham in Norfolk, is characterised as a "fabulous seven-bedroom period property" and receives a mention in Fry's autobiography. The residence has 7,000 square feet of living space spread across three storeys in the main house, alongside a detached two-bedroom annexe, reports the Mirror.

Jackson-Stops, the estate agents handling the sale, describe Booton House as "a fabulous seven-bedroom period property". The listing states: "The house enjoys a prominent position in the rural village of Booton and stands in just under one acre of landscaped gardens and grounds, complete with ample off-road gated parking to the front and side.

Home Alone icon Daniel Stern, 68, cited for allegedly soliciting a prostitute

Home Alone icon Daniel Stern was issued a citation for allegedly trying to hire an escort.

The 68-year-old actor — known for starring in the beloved Christmas franchise — was reportedly soliciting prostitution during the holiday season on December 10, in Camarillo, California, according to TMZ.

He was reportedly at a hotel in Camarillo when he was cited by the police.

Stern, who has had a drastic career change after ditching Hollywood, did not have to take a mugshot, as he wasn't booked but simply given a ticket.

Stern famously played Marv Murchins, one of the bumbling burglars in the hit holiday films Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) alongside a young Macaulay Culkin.

Home Alone actor Daniel Stern caught by police in prostitution incident

From wet bandit to legal trouble: Daniel Stern's recent police citation

Daniel Stern, famously known for his role as one of the bumbling burglars in the iconic "Home Alone" movies, has landed himself in some hot water. The actor, who played the hilariously clumsy Marv in the holiday classics, was recently cited by police for allegedly soliciting a prostitute, according to reports. This incident occurred in Camarillo, California, a city located about an hour northwest of Los Angeles.

Law enforcement sources in Ventura County revealed that Stern was issued a citation on December 10, smack dab in the middle of the festive Christmas season. Ironically, this is when "Home Alone" movies typically dominate streaming platforms, bringing nostalgic holiday cheer to fans worldwide. TMZ obtained police documents that indicate Stern was cited at a hotel in Camarillo. However, despite the nature of the charge, it appears he wasn't formally arrested or booked-just handed a ticket.

The festive movie season is upon us, and one of my perennial favourites is Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. I will die on this hill: it is better than the original. But rewatching it as an adult raises an awkward question. How on earth did the Wet Bandits survive the first film at all, let alone escape without lasting injuries?

Joe Pesci Left a Scar From Biting Macaulay Culkin’s Finger in Home Alone

The accidental bite happened as the duo was running lines before filming the climactic scene

Macaulay Culkin still has fond memories of being on the set of Home Alone with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern back in 1990, but he also has scars: notably one on his finger, from when Pesci accidentally bit Culkin’s index finger during the climactic scene of the film.

Culkin discussed the incident during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, telling Kimmel that the bite took place as the trio were running lines and Culkin was being hung by his shirt. “[Pesci] gets to the part where he’s like, ‘I’m going to bite off each of these fingers off one at a time,’ and, um, he actually bit me,” Culkin said, noting that Pesci was immediately embarrassed. “Not only did he bite a nine-year-old, he bit a vulnerable nine-year-old,” he said, referencing the fact that he was hanging by his shirt at the time. He showed off the scar, and clarified that Pesci was, of course, very sweet: “I didn’t squeal on him, I think that’s why he liked me,” said Culkin. Watch the full interview below, with the bite story beginning around the 3:30 mark.

A Few People Got Hurt Filming the ‘Home Alone’ Movies, But Only Macaulay Culkin Was Scarred

One of his co-stars got a little…mouthy with him during rehearsals

When you make a movie containing as many violent stunts as Home Alone, it stands to reason that the people involved will end up with some bumps and bruises afterward. Cartoonish as those scenes may appear on-screen, somebody has to take the hit, or the fall, or the flame to the head…twice. In the first two Home Alone movies, three main cast members walked away with injuries (that we know of).

Take Daniel Stern, who played the bumbling Wet Bandit robber Marv, for example. While filming the original Home Alone, he gave himself a bloody nose after pulling his head through the doggie door too quickly. As he revealed in a 2015 Reddit AMA, however, the worst injury he sustained was during the making of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. “There’s a scene where I have to climb a tower of old TV sets, bookcases, and other seemingly simple bits of debris,” Stern said. “I must’ve hit every corner of every chair and table, take after take. When I was getting out of my costume at the end of the day, I noticed a lot of bruising on my legs…and three days later, both legs were purple [from] toes to you know where.”

Government boosts home battery spend by $5 billion

Households are reportedly getting rebates worth almost $20,000 for batteries. (ABC News/ Doublelee)

Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen has announced big changes to the government's battery subsidy scheme amid claims most of its $2.3 billion budget has been spent in just six months.

The minister unveiled the $5 billion shake-up today while addressing the solar and battery industries, which are increasingly worried about the risks of a boom-bust cycle fuelled by the scheme.

Under the program, announced in the run-up to the election in April and which came into effect in July, households and small businesses can claim rebates on the upfront cost of batteries.

Home batteries subsidy overhauled with $5bn injection as Australians rush to take up discount

Chris Bowen says first 50kWh of a system would still be eligible, but discounting would not be as generous per kWh for medium- and larger-sized batteries

Discounts for larger systems will be wound back under a popular home battery scheme as the program’s budget is tripled.

The federal subsidy, which has been in place for five months, will get a generous top-up to $7.2bn across four years after initially being earmarked to cost $2.3bn, the energy minister, Chris Bowen, said.

The fund was thought to be running out rapidly, in part because households were installing systems up to the maximum subsidised size to take full advantage of the one-time offer.

A funding boost of nearly $5 billion will extend the government’s popular battery rebates, as the scheme’s initial pot of $2.3 billion is set to be emptied 12 months after the subsidy began.

Changes to the discounting regime have also been announced, which the government said would increase the price of many models but ensure a fairer pricing structure, particularly for those buying smaller batteries.
