‘Incapacitated’: Why Scott Cam is bed-bound in hospital

Just days before The Block returns to screens for its latest season, long-time host Scott Cam has revealed he is bed-bound in hospital as he recovers from major surgery.

The beloved tradie and TV personality has been off his feet for nearly two weeks and said he requires a walking stick to get around.

Speaking remotely to Hit Network’s Stav, Abby & Matt in Brisbane, the 63-year-old detailed his treatment and recovery.

“I am calling you from my hospital room which I’ve been in for 12 days. I’ve just had a knee replacement,” he said.

“They get you up walking straight away . . . first five days is not good, let me tell ya. I’m at the back end.”

Concerns for Hawthorn defender Josh Battle in hospital two days before facing Melbourne

Hawthorn defender Josh Battle has been named to face Melbourne this weekend despite undergoing tests in hospital on Thursday.

The 27-year-old presented to hospital after experiencing abdominal pain, with the Hawks taking no risks ahead of a flight south for Saturday’s top-eight clash.

Battle has played every game for the club since arriving for the start of last season.

And while there is hope he receives the green light, his 2025 All Australian teammate Jack Gunston is guaranteed to pull on the brown and gold stripes after mystery surrounded his ongoing abscence.

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell was cautiously optimistic before Thursday training about Gunston, but noted it was not the first time he had talked about the chances of his return.
