Josh Groban’s first impressionable experience with the Hollywood Walk of Fame is tied in his memory to a passion that, at one time, could have taken him down a completely different career path. As a kid, his father would frequently take the Los Angeles native to a magic shop on Hollywood Boulevard.

Coming and going from the shop, he would stroll the Walk of Fame, starstruck by the names beneath his feet.

“I remember thinking about how absolutely iconic and cool it is that these names are down there,” Groban tells Variety. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be one of them.”

Kris+ Lifts 2026 Earn Rate to 12 mpd in Sydney Vs Melbourne

Kris+ is raising its Sydney vs Melbourne dining earn rate to 12 mpd across 220 participating cafes, bars, and restaurants from 1st May 2026 to 30th June 2026. For diners in the two cities, that means more miles for the same meal spend, with the promotional miles able to move straight into KrisFlyer.

220 participating venues is the headline change in the 2026 Feast to Fly run, up from 135 in 2025. The Australia promotion also lifts the earn rate from 10 mpd in the previous two years, giving users a clearer incentive to route everyday dining through the app during the two-month window.

109 bars, cafes, and restaurants in Sydney are included, with 128 outlets between them city-wide. Melbourne has 111 participating bars, cafes, and restaurants, covering 122 outlets across the city. That split leaves the two markets almost evenly matched, but Melbourne has the larger count of participating venues while Sydney has the larger outlet base.

I’m a computer scientist who’s been developing AI tools and studying their evolution and adoption for the past decade, and I wasn’t surprised by OpenAI’s decision to shut down Sora.

To me, the challenges Sora faced reflect deeper limitations of AI’s creative capacities that are becoming harder to ignore.

OpenAI unveiled Sora on Feb. 15, 2024, as an AI tool that gave users the ability to create short videos from text prompts. To pull this off, the technology essentially predicted how images would change from frame to frame based on what it had “learned” from millions of hours of existing footage.

Vision 2030 turns Saudi Arabia into tourism hotspot

Saudi Arabia has
recorded a major transformation in its tourism, hospitality and events sectors
under Vision 2030, which has reshaped the Kingdom into a fast-growing global
destination, according to senior leadership statements.

The Vision’s first and
second phases have delivered widespread economic and social change, with
tourism emerging as one of the key pillars of diversification and non-oil
growth.

Real GDP reached
SAR4.9 trillion ($1.31 trillion) by the end of 2025, driven largely by the
expansion of non-oil sectors, which now account for 55% of the economy.

Tourism has played a
central role in this shift, contributing around 5% of GDP and recording strong
growth in international arrivals and spending.

Traders of oil futures are a sunny bunch. On April 17, after Iran’s foreign minister declared the Strait of Hormuz “completely open”, the price of Brent crude fell by 10 per cent, to $US90 ($126) a barrel. Within hours Iran reversed course and attacked an Indian tanker. The next trading day the global benchmark rose by just 5 per cent. It has gone back up above $US100 since but remains around $US15 below its high in late March, even though an American blockade has trapped even more oil in the Gulf.

When oil prices spike, where does the money go?

The market for oil is global, which is why events like the war in Iran affect oil prices – and prices of the wide range of products made from oil – literally everywhere. Federal data shows that the price at the primary crude oil hub in the U.S. was US$66 a barrel in late February 2026 – before the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran – and $101 a barrel on April 13. Similar price increases have reverberated around the globe.

As an energy economist and an international trade economist, we field a lot of questions during such episodes, because when oil prices go up, manufacturers, businesses and ultimately consumers pay more.

There’s a strange kind of double counting that’s unique to commodity markets. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz means oil exports out of the Persian Gulf – including what goes through Saudi Arabia’s pipeline to the Red Sea – are running at roughly half their ordinary capacity. This has many folks worried because they think this “physical” shortage will now push prices up a lot. But this kind of logic ignores that markets are forward-looking. Oil prices have risen substantially from before the war, presumably in anticipation of exactly the physical shortages we see now. So when folks talk about how prices need to rise, they’re double counting. This is why I’ve been arguing that $150 or even $200 are unrealistic, including on the podcast with Paul Krugman that aired on March 21.

Kimberley cruise season 2026 underway as one line signals a ship reshuffle

As the Kimberley cruise season gets underway for 2026, Seabourn has announced it’s leaving Australia’s centrepiece of adventure cruising, for cooler climes.

The cruise line, which only began sailing the Kimberley in 2024 with the purpose-built expedition ship Seabourn Pursuit, says rising demand for polar exploration has driven the change in its fleet deployment.

So after just four seasons in the Kimberley, Seabourn Pursuit will begin voyages in Europe and the Arctic region.

“Seabourn is seeing strong and sustained guest demand for Arctic expedition voyages, driven by interest in polar exploration, wildlife, and immersive experiences in remote destinations,” a spokesperson told Cruise Passenger.

Seabourn Kimberley program thriving, as future deployment shifts

Seabourn is optimistic for another sell-out season for its Kimberley program in 2026, which will commence in May, the third iteration of the expedition deployment to Australia’s northwest coastline. And while the fourth season is already set in stone for 2027, the Kimberley appears to be off the luxury cruise line’s agenda for 2028, LATTE can exclusively reveal.

Speaking with LATTE recently at Virtuoso’s AU/NZ Forum in Auckland, Rob Coleman, Senior Vice President, Sales & Trade Relations said Seabourn’s partnership with APT in the Kimberley has been very successful. The multi-year collaboration, inked in 2024, has seen APT take over the visiting Seabourn Pursuit (in 2024) and Seabourn Venture (in 2025), when they have been in region.
