Doncic scored 50 points for the first time as a Laker following the blockbuster trade that sent him from Dallas to Los Angeles in February 2025. It was Doncic’s 13th 40-point game in 82 appearances for Los Angeles, moving into ninth in franchise history.

LOS ANGELES — Lakers star LeBron James remained out for Tuesday night's 120-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves because of left foot arthritis and a right hip contusion.

James went through his pregame shooting routine at Crypto.com Arena prior to the Lakers' team walk-through and determined he needed more time to get treatment on his left foot before playing in a game, coach JJ Redick said.

It was James' third straight missed game, the longest stretch the 23-year veteran has been out since he was sidelined the first 14 games of the season with sciatica in his lower back and down his right leg.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James returned to the lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night against the Chicago Bulls after missing the past three games because of a right hip contusion and arthritis in his left foot.

James, 41, is averaging 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and seven assists in 44 games this season, his 23rd in the NBA. He had been a game-time decision to play against the Bulls but was confirmed to be available before tip-off.

The Lakers won all three games without James, including impressive victories over the New York Knicks on Saturday and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. Los Angeles is 40-25 and came into the night fourth in the Western Conference with a chance to move ahead of the idle Houston Rockets, who have the same record.

1. Injuries, offensive struggles for Suns: The injury bug is flying freely in Phoenix and it wreaked havoc in The Valley post All-Star break. After just 9 minutes of play in the Suns’ first game back following the festivities, Devin Booker sustained a hip flexor that has kept him on the shelf since. Two nights later, Dillon Brooks, who’s averaging a career-high 20.9 ppg during his first season in purple and orange, broke his left hand and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks. In the same contest, Jordan Goodwin, an important contributor off the bench, suffered a calf injury that will keep him out of the lineup for 1-to-2 weeks before being reevaluated. All in all, those three players account for 54.5 of Phoenix’s 112.1 ppg. As a result, the Suns have scored less than 95 points in three of their last four games, posting an NBA-worst 91.3 ppg during that stretch. They’ll need guys like Grayson Allen (17.2 ppg), Collin Gillespie (13.4 ppg) and Jalen Green (13.3 ppg) to step up in a big way, and a matchup against the Lakers’ 24th-ranked defense (116.6 DEFRTG) could be just what this team needs to get back on the right track.

LOS ANGELES — Legendary Lakers coach Pat Riley was honored with a statue outside Crypto.com Arena on Sunday and the nearly 8-foot tall, 510-pound bronze rendering features the famously stylish Riley in his preferred attire: a Giorgio Armani suit.

The Hall of Fame coach, who is currently the Miami Heat's team president and last roamed the sidelines in 2008 after 24 seasons with L.A., the New York Knicks and the Heat, said he would still be wearing suits if he were coaching today.

"I wish it went back to coat and ties," Riley said of the NBA coaches' current dress code of team-issued polos, quarter-zips and sweaters. "I think an audience wants to see somebody on the sidelines who looks like a leader, dresses like a leader, acts like a leader."

Riley was in attendance Sunday when the Lakers revealed the 8-foot bronze likeness of the Hall of Fame coach in one of his famed Giorgio Armani suits. The statue stands in Star Plaza between statues of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson, the two pillars of the Lakers’ five championships in the 1980s.

But he's a Los Angeles Lakers legend whose likeness was set in perpetuity Sunday with a statue outside Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers unveiled the statue prior to Sunday's home game against the rival Boston Celtics. It fittingly stands between statues of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, with whom Riley won four NBA championships as head coach of the "Showtime" Lakers.

With a host of Lakers icons watching, the curtain was lifted, and Riley's statue emerged from a flurry of purple and gold confetti. The statue is positioned with Riley holding up his right hand in a fist, his trademark signal for Johnson to deliver a pass to Abdul-Jabbar for a sky hook.
