Ken Hinkley says he’s “not committed to doing any coaching jobs” after the experienced AFL coach was named as the new favourite to take the reins at Tasmania – the league’s latest expansion club which is slated to play its first match in less than two years.

Long-time Port Adelaide coach Hinkley, who achieved close to a 60 per cent winning record across 13 AFL seasons, confirmed he’d recently met with Tasmania Devils chief executive Brendon Gale.

But 59-year-old Hinkley said his discussions with Tasmania were focused on providing advice to a start-up operation.

“I didn’t meet with Tassie last week. I did meet with them two weeks ago,” Hinkley said after he was named on Channel Seven’s Agenda Setters as the new favourite – ahead of Nathan Buckley – to be Tasmania’s inaugural senior coach.

Former Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has emerged as the frontrunner to be Tasmania’s inaugural coach, according to Channel 7’s Caroline Wilson.

Hinkley finished up as Power coach at the end of last year after 13 seasons in charge.

The 59-year-old has seamlessly stepped into a commentary role this year, but still has the desire to be a senior coach.

Former Collingwood great and coach Nathan Buckley has long been seen as the leading candidate for Tasmania when they enter the league in 2028, while Sydney premiership coach John Longmire is also in the mix.

NASA has begun the countdown for humanity's first launch to the Moon in 53 years.

If Artemis II successfully launches, four astronauts will become the most closely watched crew since Apollo.

Leading the nearly 10-day mission is widower Reid Wiseman, who considers solo parenting — not rocketing to the Moon — his biggest and most rewarding challenge.

NASA’s Artemis II Launch Mission Countdown Begins

The countdown for NASA’s Artemis II test flight is underway at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with members of the launch team arriving at their consoles inside the Rocco Petrone Launch Control Center. The onsite countdown clock started ticking down at 4:44 p.m. EDT to a targeted launch time of 6:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1. Artemis II is the first crewed launch of NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion spacecraft.

With countdown officially underway, engineers are powering up flight hardware, checking communication links, and preparing the rocket’s cryogenic systems for the precise fueling sequence required to load hundreds of thousands of gallons of super-cooled liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. At Launch Pad 39B, teams will begin filling the sound suppression system’s massive tank with water, which will unleash a protective deluge at liftoff to shield the vehicle from the roar of its own engines.
