Pokémon Champions is coming to Nintendo Switch and compatible smart devices on 8 April.

Pokémon Champions is a brand-new, free-to-start game that focuses on all the strategy and fun of Pokémon battles!
Made for both new and experienced Trainers alike, the game features familiar mechanics such as Pokémon types, Abilities, and moves. You also won't need to wait long to play: Pokémon Champions comes out 8 April.

Additionally, a free update for Nintendo Switch 2 owners will provide even clearer graphics.

This is a free-to-start game. A Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack bundle, as well as optional in-game items, will be available to purchase.

Pokemon Champions to offer a couple of limited time bonuses

The Pokemon Company has revealed a pair of bonuses for Pokemon Champions with the game launching imminently.

Between April 8 and August 31, players can get their hands on a Dragonite as well as 100 Quick Coupons. You’ll need to download and play the game in order to access both. Both will be distributed via the in-game mailbox.

Dragonite is self explanatory. For Quick Coupons, these can be used to recruit Pokemon faster. Players recruit creatures from a roster of random Pokemon from Roster Ranch rather than catching them. Quick Coupons will typically be earned by taking on in-game missions.

Those who continue playing Pokemon Champions can obtain a Dragoninite stone from the first season’s Battle Pass. This can be used to Mega Evolve into Mega Dragonite.

Pokémon Pokopia Review – A Pleasant Paradise

Since its inception, the Pokémon franchise has been about checking boxes; after all, the famous tagline is “Gotta Catch ‘em All!” Pokémon Pokopia evolves the checklist concept beyond collecting gym badges and catching Pokémon, stripping conflict of any kind from the experience and instead giving you nearly endless tasks to improve your various towns and the overall happiness of the Pokémon therein. And it does so with a loop that mixes elements from Dragon Quest Builders, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft, resulting in one of the best laid-back simulation titles I’ve played in years. Though it maintains an emphasis on collection, it shifts the focus from battling to revitalizing a post-apocalyptic region and reforging our connections not only to the world, but also each other. And just like when the mainline Pokémon series is at its best, I had a difficult time putting it down.

Pokémon Champions Brings The Fight To Switch This April

We got our first proper look at Pokémon Champions in last year's Pokémon Presents showcase, and today, TPC has finally spilled the beans on a release date. Or, more accurately, a release window.

As revealed at the end of the new trailer (above), Champions will arrive on Switch at some point in April 2026, with the mobile version launching "later this year".

As for the trailer itself, we don't see all that much that we'd class as "new". Once again, this is to be the go-to battle format for the competitive scene going forward, so all of the footage was very… battle-y.

Nintendo explains why Pokémon Blue/Red aren't getting standalone Switch releases, won't discuss the potential for Game Boy: Nintendo Classics versions

Nintendo has announced that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions, which originally released on the Game Boy Advance, are getting standalone Switch eShop releases Feb. 27th, 2026.
