The Estonian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Hanwha Aerospace announced in separate press releases on 11 May 2026 that the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) signed a government-to-government contract that day with the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) to procure three more K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers (MRLs) from the South Korean defence company. The agreement was signed by ECDI Director General Elmar Vaher and KOTRA President and CEO Kyung Sung Kang.

Hanwha Aerospace to Supply Additional Chunmoo Rocket Launchers to Estonia

Hanwha Aerospace will supply additional Chunmoo multiple-launch precision-guided rocket systems to Estonia.

Hanwha Aerospace said three additional Chunmoo launchers will be delivered to the Estonian military after the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments signed a government-to-government export agreement on May 11.

The latest order follows a roughly 290 million euro Chunmoo export contract signed in December last year. That agreement included six Chunmoo launchers, guided munitions and operational and training support.

Estonia is modernizing its multiple-launch rocket capabilities under its National Defence Development Plan 2031, known as RKAK 2031.

Hanwha Aerospace said its ability to deliver on schedule and the trust established during project execution contributed to the follow-on agreement.

Estonia Orders 3 More K239 Chunmoo Rocket Launchers to Expand NATO Strike Range to 290 km

Estonia is expanding its long-range strike capability with a new order for three additional K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers from South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace, bringing its future fleet to nine systems and strengthening its ability to deliver precision fires deep beyond conventional artillery range. The agreement, signed in Tallinn on 11 May 2026 between the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, reinforces Estonia’s push to build a more credible deterrent against regional military threats on NATO’s eastern flank.

The expanded Chunmoo force will give the Estonian Defence Forces access to guided 239 mm rockets and CTM-290 tactical ballistic missiles capable of striking high-value targets at extended distances with greater accuracy and response speed. Combined with training, operational support, and locally adapted vehicle modifications, the programme increases Estonia’s ability to conduct distributed long-range fires and reflects the growing role of precision rocket artillery in European military modernization.

UPDATE, 10.30am: Nearly 300 Bushmasters will be built in Bendigo over the next seven years in a $1.2 billion upgrade in Australia's defence capabilities.

Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles and Minister for Defence Industry Pat Conroy were in Bendigo for the announcement alongside federal member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters, Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards and Bendigo East MP and Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan.

"It is a big and important day in the history of Bendigo and Victoria's strong and proud history of playing a big role in the Australian defence industry," Ms Allan said.

A new Bushmaster defence production deal will provide a seven-year $750 million boost to Bendigo and Brisbane’s defence industry.

The deal is part of a $1.2 billion spending package on armoured vehicles and will secure 300 jobs in Bendigo, Victoria, and Brisbane, Queensland.

The Defence Department says the French-owned Thales Australia will build 268 Bushmasters for Australia at its Bendigo plant.

The Bushmaster has been sold to nine countries like New Zealand, Indonesia and Fiji, and Canberra has just approved a Dutch order for the vehicles.

The vehicles have also been given to Ukraine who are using it on the frontline in its war with Russia; more than 120 of the vehicles are said to have been given to the Ukraine armed forces.

Global warming caused by humanity’s carbon emissions has been slowing the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), a system of currents including the Gulf Stream that warms Europe. If the AMOC collapsed entirely, it could release massive amounts of carbon from the deep Southern Ocean into the atmosphere, a feedback that would warm the Earth even more.

Previous research has shown that AMOC shutdown could cause colder winters in Europe, disrupt monsoons in Africa and Asia, and increase global temperatures. But new computer modelling has shown it would also emit as much as 640 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide near Antarctica, heating the planet by an additional 0.2°C.

Latest Research Suggests AMOC Could Collapse Sooner Than Expected

Water is water, right? Yes and no. There are a number of factors that can affect the characteristics of water and make it do interesting things. Hot water is less dense than cold water, which can create a thermosyphon effect. In Germany, a company called Eavor is using it to make its closed loop geothermal system work. Water heated by rocks deep underground rises to the surface without the need for pumps because it is lighter than cooler water being piped down a different well alongside.

Impurities can also affect the properties of water — the things that make seawater salty, for instance. Differences in salinity can cause water in the ocean to rise to the surface or fall toward the bottom. And don’t forget that the Earth is spinning, which helps create the great ocean currents that swirl clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the southern hemisphere.

U.S. Marshals arrest 78, seize 46 guns and more than 50 pounds of drugs in metro Atlanta

A three-week fugitive operation led by the U.S. Marshals Service and local law enforcement agencies resulted in 78 arrests and the seizure of dozens of illegal firearms and drugs across metro Atlanta, officials said.

78 arrested in 3-week fugitive sweep across metro Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A three-week fugitive operation led by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and Clayton County law enforcement agencies has resulted in 78 arrests.

From March 16 through April 3, officials targeted suspects wanted for serious offenses, including murder, aggravated assault, child molestation, rape and more, USMS announced on Friday.

“This operation shows what is possible when law enforcement works together,” USMS Director Gadyaces S. Serralta said. “Our federal, state and local partners delivered. They removed violent offenders and made Clayton County and Atlanta safer. This type of partnership is how we protect communities, restore peace and uphold the rule of law.”
