Former NRL star Tevita Pangai Jr signs with world club champion Hull KR

Former NSW forward Tevita Pangai Jr has signed with world club champions Hull KR for the remainder of the 2026 season.

It will be Pangai Jr's fourth club since retiring from the NRL to take up a career in boxing, before later returning to the Dolphins for a short stint.

After a dea fell through at the Warrington Wolves before the season started, and spending the earlier months of the year playing Rugby Union in the South of France, LoveRugbyLeague has revealed the NRL star-turned-boxer has joined Willie Peters' squad.

Hull KR complete shock transfer for NRL star Tevita Pangai Jr

Hull KR have completed a deal to sign former Catalans Dragons forward Tevita Pangai Jr for the rest of this season to bolster their squad, Love Rugby League can reveal.

Rovers have been in talks with the forward for a number of weeks, and have now struck up an agreement that will see him move to Craven Park from early next month.

Pangai Jr will provide an extra option for Willie Peters as Rovers look to retain both the Super League and Challenge Cup crowns they won throughout their historic 2025 season.

The prop has been spending his time in the lower reaches of French rugby union since leaving Catalans at the end of last season, after just a solitary year in Perpignan.

Ex-NRL enforcer Tevita Pangai Junior signs with championship club

World Club champions Hull KR have made the mid-season signing of former NRL forward Tevita Pangai Junior for the remainder of the 2026 season.

After falling through with a deal at the Warrington Wolves before the season started, and spending the earlier months of the year playing Rugby Union in the South of France, LoveRugbyLeague has revealed the NRL star-turned-boxer has a new home.

It is a significant play by Willie Peters to bring some strike and mongrel into the Robins' forward pack to continue their dominance in the Super League.

Pangai Junior will link up with the Rovers, making it his fourth professional club after famously retiring from the NRL to take up a career in boxing, before later returning to the Dolphins for a short stint.

Latrell running risk of suspension after Souths star learns fate over ugly act

Latrell Mitchell has once again escaped a sanction for an ugly act against the Dragons on Saturday night, but the NRL could still yet take action. Mitchell was at his brilliant best in South Sydney's 30-12 victory, scoring four tries to hand the Dragons their 11th loss in a row and seventh this year.

But he once again committed an 'unnecessary' act that had the potential to cause serious injury to an opponent. Early in the first half with Souths up 4-0, Mitchell was called off-side on a Cody Walker grubber towards the in-goal.

Well after the whistle had already been blown, Mitchell grabbed Dragons half Daniel Atkinson and flung him back towards the in-goal, sending him crashing into the post. Dragons players remonstrated with Mitchell, who appeared to regret his actions.

NRL Late Mail Round 7: Crichton ruled out; Luai, Reynolds cleared to play

The Bulldogs have been dealt a blow ahead of Sunday's clash with the Eels after Stephen Crichton was ruled out of the match at CommBank Stadium.

The captain was pushing for an early comeback from a shoulder injury but the bid ultimately fell short and he dropped out of the Canterbury squad in Saturday's team update.

More positive news for Wests Tigers captain Jarome Luai and Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds who are set to return from injury in Saturday night's showdown at a sold-out Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Following further medical assessment by an independent specialist, Broncos hooker Cory Paix will remain unavailable after suffering a head knock last week.

What an absolute disaster Round 6 of the NRL season proved to be for tippers, particularly any that follow this preview. Just when you think you have started to find some form lines, this competition will jump up to bite you. How on earth did the Bulldogs beat the Panthers, the Raiders beat the Rabbitohs and the Warriors upset the Storm in Melbourne?

This week throws up some more conundrums. Do teams bounce back from shock losses last week? Do those showing unexpected form reversals continue to shine? And, is it at all possible that the Storm will slump to a fifth-straight defeat?

NRL great opens up on big jail ‘wake-up call’… and ‘one thing I’ll regret my whole life’

Watch Jake Duke go Face to Face with Warriors legend Manu Vatuvei on Fox League at 7:30pm AEDT on Tuesday!

Manu Vatuvei took one of the NRL’s greatest falls from grace and came out the other side.

From New Zealand’s greatest try scorer to serving 15 months in prison, Vatuvei said getting arrested is still one of the best things to ever happen to him.

Manu Vatuvei: NRL great calls jail a ‘wake-up call’ — why his fall from grace became a reluctant turning point

manu vatuvei says the collapse from celebrated try scorer to a prison sentence for importing 500g of methamphetamine and amphetamine was both a ruinous fall and, paradoxically, “one of the best things” to happen to him — a 3 years 7 months sentence that he served one third of, released on parole after 15 months.

The central question from the interview is simple: what did the experience of arrest, conviction and incarceration actually change in manu vatuvei’s life? In a Face-to-Face interview with host Jake Duke, Manu Vatuvei said the arrest provided a “wake-up call” that forced him into deep self-reflection. He described being alone in a cell and confronting long-standing depression and trauma, framing the time inside as a period when he “made… changes” he believes would not have happened otherwise.

The well-worn catchphrase of famous people caught in embarrassing situations was wielded to little effect before dual-code rugby great Wendell Sailor was arrested during a drunken night out.

The former Wallabies player became agitated when talking to another man at Pappy’s Bar in Sydney’s city centre after 8.30pm on November 6, 2024, according to the agreed facts of his court case.

The bar manager threatened to call the police after asking the 51-year-old to leave the bar at least three times because of his level of intoxication.
