Treasury official charged over alleged data breach involving thousands of government documents

A NSW Treasury official has been charged by cybercrime detectives over an alleged data breach involving thousands of commercially sensitive government documents spanning the “whole of government”.

NSW Police on Monday arrested and charged 45-year-old Jagan Ganti Venkata Satya with accessing or modifying restricted data after receiving reports that more than 5600 sensitive documents had allegedly been accessed and downloaded by a staff member.

NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said the government had declared a significant cyber incident after internal monitoring detected a suspected transfer to an external server of a substantial number of documents containing confidential commercial and financial information.

A public servant within the largest Treasury department in Australia has been arrested after the alleged theft of a huge trove of confidential data.

The 45-year-old employee, who has been with NSW Treasury's commercial team for three years, is accused of illegally transferring some 5600 files onto an external server.

They contained confidential commercial and financial information about various government departments and projects including current and previous government negotiations.

'Spaceballs 2' Unveils Official Title At CinemaCon

Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled an official title for its anticipated Spaceballs sequel, releasing in theaters on April 23, 2027.

In a pre-taped video as part of Amazon MGM’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on Wednesday, franchise architect Mel Brooks, who produced and returned to star in the new film, revealed that the title is the appropriately cheeky Spaceballs: The New One.

Brooks couldn’t make the presentation, he said, because he was “seeing Phish at the Sphere.”

He cut in on screen in the middle of remarks from Rick Moranis — an actor making a comeback after many years away from the screen, who audiences are eager to hear from. Knowing this, Amazon never let it happen, with the actor also being interrupted by Josh Gad and, via another pre-tape, Keke Palmer. Other cast members appearing on stage tonight, alongside director Josh Greenbaum, to tout the anticipated sequel, included Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Josh Gad, and Lewis Pullman.

The sequel is simply called 'Spaceballs: The New One,' and the first footage takes a shot at the 'Avatar' franchise.

Mel Brooks had a galactic announcement at CinemaCon: the title for the forthcoming Spaceballs sequel. No, it’s not Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.

It’s simply Spaceballs: The New One, as he revealed via a video at CinemaCon on Wednesday night.

The feature is the sequel to Brooks’ seminal 1987 Star Wars parody, which he directed and co-wrote. Original members of the cast returning include Rick Moranis, George Wyner, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman and Brooks.

Pullman’s son, Thunderbolts and Top Gun: Maverick actor Lewis Pullman, is among the new castmembers, along with Josh Gad, Keke Palmer and Anthony Carrigan. Their roles are a secret, though The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the younger Pullman will play the son of his father’s character, the Han Solo-esque Lone Starr.

The start of Formula 1’s Japanese Grand Prix has been delayed slightly due to a dramatic accident in a support race.

Round three of the 2026 season at Suzuka was due to start at 2pm local time on Sunday afternoon.

The start of the formation lap was delayed by 10 minutes, though, due to ongoing barrier repairs at Turn 12.

A big crash occurred in the supporting Porsche Carrera Cup Japan when two cars collided through the flat-out right hander before the Spoon Curves towards the end of the middle sector.

One was fired off to the left through the air and was already rolling when it made contact with the barriers and fence, clearing both. The driver appeared to walk away unharmed.

That was a fantastic start and he is now leading the Japanese Grand Prix. As we mentioned before, the Ferrari performs brilliantly at the start and Leclerc is in second place.

We’ve got George Russell in third and Lando Norris in fourth.

We are racing folks and for the first time this season, 22 cars are actually starting the race. Everyone apart from Valtteri Bottas (on hard tyres) has elected for medium tyres.

Top US counterterrorism official resigns over Iran war, urging Trump to 'reverse course'

The Trump administration's top official on counterterrorism has resigned over the war in Iran, and has urged the president to "reverse course".

In a letter posted to his X account, National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said that Iran posed "no imminent threat" to the US and claimed that the administration "started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby".

Kent, 45, is a US special forces and CIA veteran whose wife, navy cryptologic technician Shannon Kent, was killed in a bombing in Syria in 2019.

The White House has dismissed the letter saying Trump had "compelling evidence" that Iran was going to attack the US first.

Kent, who advised Trump and national intelligence director on ‘terror’ threats, says Iran ‘posed no imminent threat’.

The director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, which advises both US President Donald Trump and the director of national intelligence on “terror” threats, has resigned over the war with Iran.

In a resignation letter posted on X, Joe Kent said he could not “in good conscience” support the ongoing war.

“Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” he said.

He pointed to Trump’s past pledges to end US engagement abroad, writing, “you understood that wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the previous lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation”.

Palworld devs have teased upcoming Pals through new concept art revealed from their 2nd Anniversary video.

Pocketpair has been hard at work growing the Palworld game and the franchise. In terms of content, we saw the Ultrakill Collab and the ‘Home Sweet Home’ update arrive last month.
