Mavericks vs Pacers Preview and Injury Update: Sunday afternoon basketball

The Dallas Mavericks (19-36) visit the Indiana Pacers (15-42) for a very strangely timed Sunday afternoon game. Dallas is in the midst of a double-digit losing streak, having not won a game in over a month. The Pacers just out tanked the Washington Wizards twice in a row. This is going to be a monumentally bad game!

There are TWENTY TWO players on the injury report for this game between both teams. Cooper Flagg headlines the guys out for the Mavericks. Moussa Cisse and Ryan Nembhard are doubtful, largely due to how many games they have left of their eligibility. Daniel Gafford and Max Christie are still questionable. Miles Kelly and Caleb Martin are expected to play. Most of the Pacers roster is questionable with Zubac, Nesmith, Johnny Furphy, and Haliburton definatively out.

Mavericks vs Pacers: 3 things before a Dallas afternoon tussle with Indiana

The Dallas Mavericks (19-36, 5-19 Away) prepare to face off with the Indiana Pacers (15-42, 10-18 Home) at 4 pm CST on Sunday. While Dallas is on the longest losing streak the franchise has seen since before my car renting age of 25, Indiana is also facing struggles as they were just handed back-to-back losses by a Washington Wizards team that has been eerily competitive of late. Someone has to win this one, right? Right?

Yes, the Mavericks are losing as if their tankathon lives depend on it, but if you actually watch these games, that is absolutely not what is happening on the court or the box scores. No matter who is in the starting lineup or who this team is up against, the Mavericks do not roll over, for anyone, full stop. This “win at all costs, we are not tanking” attitude from the players makes a refreshing dynamic to watch when compared to the decisions being made by other franchises, often in blatant fashion. The Mavericks roster is a combination of youth with varying degrees of potential mixed with veterans with a high level of pride in their craft who were either in the Finals less than two years ago or signed here expecting to help the team return. This double-digit game losing streak is noteworthy—not simply for its unparalleled length this century for the Mavericks—but for the duality of the positive impact it has on the Mavericks locker room to fight every game regardless of time and score, as well as the undeniable shift in lottery odds that comes with every loss.

Mavericks vs Pacers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The Dallas Mavericks have waved the white flag with 10 straight losses, but they’ll be hard-pressed to out-tank the Indiana Pacers as the teams square off at Gainbridge Fieldhouse today.

At 15-42, Indiana has the inside track on a high lottery pick, and my Mavericks vs. Pacers predictions expect both squads to struggle to create good looks without their sidelined playmakers.

Read on for my free NBA picks ahead of this February 22 basement battle.

The injury reports for the Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers are a reminder that there’s every incentive to keep their top playmakers on the sidelines. Both squads have peppered the Under this season, and it feels like one of the best picks on the board today.

Barcelona vs. Levante: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

Barcelona must respond to back-to-back defeats and get their La Liga title push on track again when they host strugglers Levante on Sunday.

Embarrassment in the Copa del Rey at the hands of Atlético Madrid forced introspection but it had little impact on Barça’s league return, Hansi Flick’s men stumbling to a controversial 2–1 defeat at Catalan rivals Girona. Two harmful defeats mean their cup dreams are in tatters and they now trail Real Madrid in La Liga.

Fortunately for La Blaugrana, they face one of the easiest fixtures remaining in their campaign. While they only narrowly beat Levante in August’s reverse fixture, requiring a late own goal to edge a 3–2 blockbuster, Luís Castro’s side are in disappointing form and serious candidates to be demoted.

PREVIEW | FC Barcelona v Levante

It's time to turn the page for FC Barcelona and get the positive feeling back in front of the fans after two consecutive defeats against Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey and against Girona in LaLiga. The best way to do that is to be back out on the pitch and competing.

The blaugranes are set to welcome Levante to the Spotify Camp Nou for the La Liga gameweek 25 fixture (kick-off 4.15pm CET), with the clear aim of earning the three points and getting the confidence back as they continue to strive to achieve their targets this season.

MLS team-by-team preview: Why is 2026 your team's year?

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Herculez Gomez and Mau Pedroza are split between Inter Miami and LAFC for the winners of the 2026 MLS Cup. (2:12)

It's been more than two months since Lionel Messi's Inter Miami were crowned champions of MLS. Since then, fans of the league have endured the cold, snow and darkness of its long winter offseason, only now emerging to the very beginnings of springtime's green shoots of growth.

That's because MLS returns to action Saturday, kicking off a campaign that will both observe the league's 30th anniversary and a midsummer respite to make way for the FIFA World Cup.

MLS 2026 predictions: Messi v Son, a Timo Werner rebirth and are Inter Miami inevitable?

The 2026 MLS season kicks off on Saturday. Our writers discuss the teams, players and story lines they’re watching this year

Messi v Son. The two best players in the league play for the two “glamour” teams on opposite coasts, and each have large and dedicated fanbases. If both stay relatively healthy and perform up to capabilities, there’s no way the race between them for some honor (Golden Boot? MVP? Both?) won’t be fascinating to see unfold. AA

Whatever the league does – or doesn’t do – to capitalize on the World Cup. We’re just months away from arguably the biggest moment in the history of American men’s soccer and it’s still not entirely clear (schedule shift aside) what the league is doing to exploit it. It will be years, probably, before we figure out whether MLS succeeded or not – let’s hope the ad wizards in the boardroom have something figured out. PM

Fight By Fight Preview | UFC Houston

There are several different ways to look at the UFC schedule —monthly, quarterly, annually; by event type, by locations, by the strength of the lineup — but no matter how you size things up, one thing is clear: cards like this one on Saturday in Houston, Texas absolutely rip!

Headlined by a crucial middleweight pairing between former champ Sean Strickland and streaking contender Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez, with a number of outstanding supporting matchups, UFC’s return to Toyota Center promises to be a rollicking good time from the first bout of the evening through to its crescendo. There are prospects and veterans, strikers and grapplers, and finishers galore, plus some athletes with ties to “The Lone Star State” that are surely going to want to give their fellow Texans something to cheer about once the leather starts flying.

    UFC Houston predictions

Sean Strickland is hanging around the middleweight title picture and could fight for it again with a big win Saturday.

Three of Strickland’s past four fights have had gold on the line, so you can be sure he’s eyeing champion Khamzat Chimaev even as he prepares to battle Anthony Hernandez in the main event of UFC Houston. Hernandez is on a stunning run of form, having won eight straight to put together the longest streak in the division. He’ll have an even stronger contender case than Strickland if he knocks off the former titleholder.

Despite—or perhaps because of—Strickland’s pervasively disgusting, ignorant, and frankly, dull public comments, he remains a favorite of the UFC matchmakers and unquestionably has a following that are eager to see him fight Chimaev. He fell to twice to Dricus du Plessis, but made easy work of Paulo Costa and his shocking upset of Israel Adesanya remains fresh in the minds of many.

UFC Houston live results: Sean Strickland vs. Anthony Hernandez updates, round-by-round scoring and highlights

Uncrowned has UFC Houston live results, round-by-round updates, start time and highlights for the Sean Strickland vs. Anthony Hernandez fight card on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland and red-hot contender Anthony "Fluffy" Hernandez collide in the night's five-round main event with potential title contention on the line.

Strickland (29-7) makes his return after more than a year out of the cage. The controversial American last competed in early February 2025, losing a lackluster effort against then-champion Dricus du Plessis in a failed bid to regain his UFC middleweight title. In total, Strickland, 34, has won four of his past six bouts, including his upset of Israel Adesanya to win the belt in 2023. Six of his seven most recent UFC wins have come by decision.

Nuggets vs. Clippers Prediction: Last Games, Injury Report, Player Stats, H2H & Best Picks – Feb 19, 2026

The NBA returned from the All-Star break with an exciting Western Conference battle as the Denver Nuggets visited the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome on February 19, 2026. This matchup carried major playoff implications, with Denver looking to strengthen its position among the top teams in the West, while the Clippers were fighting to stay alive in the Play-In race.

Before the game, most predictions favored Denver because of their strong offense and the return of Nikola Jokic. However, the Clippers came in with momentum, a reshaped roster after the trade deadline, and a confident Kawhi Leonard leading the charge. What followed was a tight, high-intensity contest that went down to the final moments and delivered one of the most competitive games of the night.

Preview: Caykur Rizespor vs Galatasaray – prediction, team news, lineups

Galatasaray make the trip to the Rize City Stadium to face Caykur Rizespor on Sunday looking for the win that would strengthen their hold of top spot in the Super Lig table.

At a time when the visitors hold a three-point advantage over second position, their hosts are down in 12th place after a recent poor run of form.

When Galatasaray resumed Super Lig action in 2026 with a 1-1 draw at home to Gazientep, the door was left ajar for fierce rivals Fenerbahce.

However, the defending champions have since responded with back-to-back victories over Fatih Karagumruk (3-1) and Kayserispor (4-0) respectively.

Star Performer Fuels Galatasaray’s Game-Changing Victory in Rize

Galatasaray’s recent match against Caykur Rizespor showcased a commanding 3-0 victory, largely thanks to the standout performance of Baris Yilmaz. His contributions were pivotal in steering his team towards this decisive win.

Yilmaz opened the scoring just 19 minutes into the match with a close-range header. This early goal set the tone for the remainder of the game, demonstrating Galatasaray’s dominance. He arrived at the far post to capitalize on a precise cross from Noa Lang, allowing him to navigate through the defense effectively.

Following his goal, Yilmaz continued to influence the game. He assisted Yunus Akgun in the 62nd minute with a well-placed cross, exploiting a gap that emerged in Caykur Rizespor’s defense. This assist further showcased his awareness and ability to read the game, which was crucial for Galatasaray’s offensive strategy.

Osimhen on fire: Scores fifth straight league goal in Galatasaray's biggest win at Rizespor in 5 years

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive run in front of goal as Galatasaray sealed a convincing 3–0 victory over Rizespor on Sunday.

The Nigerian international put the result beyond doubt at the Çaykur Didi Stadium, scoring Galatasaray’s third goal after Barış Alper Yılmaz and Yunus Akgün had given the visitors a comfortable two-goal cushion.

Osimhen showed composure and class, latching onto a through pass from Noa Lang, rounding Ivorian goalkeeper Yahia Fofana, and calmly slotting the ball into the net.

The goal secured Galatasaray their biggest away win at the Çaykur Didi Stadium in the Süper Lig since November 2020, when they previously secured a 4–0, according to Opta Can.

Ten years on from their improbable run to the World T20 final in Kolkata, England return to India with quiet expectation. While controversy swirls around their captain, Harry Brook, and what he did and did not get up to outside a nightclub on Halloween, the team that he oversees has found some stillness in the eye of the storm. With 10 wins in their last 11 completed T20Is, they are as ready as they can be for the challenge that lies ahead.

So too, for that matter, are their opening-night opponents. Eighteen months ago in St Vincent, Nepal came within a whisker of a stunning upset against the eventual World Cup finalists, South Africa. They return to the T20 World Cup stage with a battle-hardened unit, forewarned of the pressures but with proof of their worthiness, and with two successful seasons of the Nepal Premier League under their belts to rehearse those big-match moments.

Harry Brook’s team opt for confidence building at hotel before opener with practice a three-hour round trip away

Sitting in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Mumbai headquarters, adjacent to the Wankhede Stadium, three days before the start of England’s World Cup campaign, Harry Brook was asked about captaining a T20 side in its latest, even-more-wild-scoring iteration, against opponents looking to flay sixes with ungodly regularity. “Yeah, you’ve got to stay with a cool head as much as you possibly can,” he said. “You’ve just got to try to be as calm as possible.”

England vs Nepal: T20 World Cup – teams, start time, lineups

England open their 2026 T20 World Cup campaign against Nepal with points to prove on and off the field.

    Who: England vs Nepal
What: 2026 ICC T20 World Cup
    Where: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India
When: Sunday, February 8, at 3pm (09:30 GMT)
How to follow: We’ll have all the buildup on Al Jazeera Sport from 06:30 GMT in advance of our text commentary stream.

England are undoubtedly among the frontrunners to lift the T20 World Cup title, but, unlike years gone by, they do not start as one of the red-hot favourites.

Despite his undoubted ability with the bat, questions surround the captaincy of Harry Brook, while English cricket as a whole is licking its wounds following recent woes – including the Ashes humiliation in Australia.

Barcelona vs. Mallorca: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

Barcelona’s La Liga title defense resumes when they welcome Mallorca into the Spotify Camp Nou.

Life is good for Barcelona at the moment, sitting atop the La Liga standings, already qualified to the Champions League round of 16 and having just secured their place in the Copa del Rey semifinals.

Hansi Flick’s side have won 16 of their last 17 games across all competitions, with victories against Elche and Albacete over the past week adding to the positive momentum.

Mallorca, on the other hand, are fighting to avoid relegation. A dominant victory against Sevilla last time out has them three points clear of the drop zone, but they haven’t found much success against Barcelona recently—they have failed to beat the Catalans in any of their last 19 meetings.

Barcelona star joins Messi & Ronaldo in exclusive club during Mallorca clash

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Saturday continued to write his name ever further into the history books of European football.

This comes owing to his exploits in the Blaugrana’s latest outing.

Hansi Flick’s troops are of course currently locked in action on the domestic front.

Turning focus back towards matters on the La Liga front, Barcelona have welcomed RCD Mallorca to the Spotify Camp Nou.

And as things stand, the aforementioned Lewandowski stands as the difference-maker when it comes to the scoreline.

After pouncing on a loose ball in the visitors’ penalty area during the first-half on Saturday, the veteran goalscorer made no mistake in slotting home with ease.

Hansi Flick: 'We're in good condition'

With a place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals already secured, Barça now turn their focus back to La Liga, determined to stay top for another week. Standing in their way are Jagoba Arrasate’s Mallorca and their main threat, Vedat Muriqi, the league’s second-highest scorer with 15 goals.

Hansi Flick was upbeat ahead of the clash. “I’m happy with our style,” he said. “We have to be more focused when finishing our chances, but the team is in a good moment.”

Flick reserved special praise for Lamine Yamal. “The most important thing is that he enjoys himself. And that’s something we have to help him with,” he said. “You can see it in his performances. He’s scoring more goals, and he still has even more potential.”

Just two men stand to foil Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s pursuit of a 15-year first at Melbourne Park on Friday when the top four seeds square off in the semifinals of Australian Open 2026.

Not since Novak Djokovic denied Rafael Nadal for three of the four Slams from Wimbledon 2011 to Roland Garros 2012 have two rivals contested four successive major finals between them.

Why Australian Open men’s semifinals with top four seeds still feel one-sided – The Athletic

Novak Djokovic's win over Carlos Alcaraz at last year's Australian Open feels increasingly further away. Clive Brunskill / Getty Images

The Athletic has live coverage of the 2026 Australian Open women’s singles final between Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina.

MELBOURNE, Australia — For the first time in 13 years, the top four men’s seeds have made it to the Australian Open semifinals. The last time that happened at the majors was the 2019 French Open, and after nearly seven years, two closely matched, tense semifinals between the four best players await.

The reality is that as long as the top two seeds are there, their opponents have become something close to an irrelevance. Describing Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, and Alexander Zverev, generally accepted to be the best men’s player never to have won a major, in this way may seem harsh, but that is the extent of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance over the past two years.

Australian Open 2026: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner face Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic in semi-finals

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have split the past eight Grand Slam titles between them

Going into the Australian Open, few people predicted anything other than Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner meeting again in the men's final.

The pair have contested the past three Grand Slam title matches – Alcaraz winning the French Open and US Open, with Sinner claiming Wimbledon in between – as their rivalry continues to grow.

Now only Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic can prevent the dominant duo meeting in the Melbourne showpiece for the first time.

Spanish world number one Alcaraz plays German third seed Zverev in Friday's first semi-final at 14:30 local time (03:30 GMT), followed by Italian second seed Sinner facing Serb fourth seed Djokovic.
