Sony Removes Over 1,000 Low-Quality Games From PlayStation Store
Low-quality games, often called “shovelware,” have been around on PC and consoles for a long time. These are games made quickly with little effort, often copying ideas from other titles. In recent years, they have become a bigger problem in digital stores like Steam and PlayStation Store.
About two months ago, Sony removed nearly 1,200 games from one of the biggest publishers of this kind of content. Now, the company has taken similar action again, removing games from two more publishers.
According to a recent report by Delisted Games, Nostra Games, a company based in Cyprus, had filled the PlayStation Store with around 700 games, many of them simulation titles. These games have now been removed.
Sony Continues To Crack Down On PS Store Shovelware By Delisting Yet More Games
Remember earlier this year when Sony brought the axe down on over 1,000 shovelware games on the PlayStation Store? Well, the format holder is stopping there, as it’s now removed hundreds of other titles that fall under the shovelware banner.
The majority of the games delisted hail from Nostra Games, a Cyprus-based development team who had lobbed nearly 700 games on Sony’s store, all of which have now been given the boot. CGI Lab has also seen its catalog delisted from the PS Store, although the didn’t have anywhere near as many titles Nostra Games.
Speaking on discord, a Nostra Games spokesperson issued a statement revealing they were in the dark as to why Sony had given their games the boot

'We'll Still Release on Switch, Xbox, and Steam': Dev Responds to Delisting as Sony Axes 1,000s More PS5, PS4 Games from PS Store
Sony is getting more and more aggressive with shovelware on the PS Store.
You may recall earlier in the year it delisted hundreds of titles from publisher ThiGames, the company behind “classics” like The Jumping Pizza.
Now it’s axed hundreds more from two more publishers, with their entire catalogues nuked overnight.
Cyprus-based studio Nostra Games’ portfolio was nowhere near as low effort as the abovementioned, but it still spammed Sony’s storefront with almost 700 games over the years, most notably sims.
Recently it hit headlines for its cat co-op game Ghostly Whiskers, which was accused of being an AI generated knock-off of Haunted Paws.
