Victorian State Voting Intention: One Nation (26.5%) now ahead of ALP (25.5%) and L-NP Coalition (21.5%) on primary vote nine months before Victorian State Election

Only nine months before a State Election, Victorian electors are split with One Nation (26.5%) now ahead of the governing ALP (25.5%), and the official Opposition L-NP Coalition (21.5%). In addition, 13.5% support the Greens and a further 13% support other minor parties and Independents according to the special SMS Roy Morgan survey conducted from February 13-16, 2026, with a representative Victoria-wide cross-section of 2,462 electors.

If a Victorian State Election were held now there would likely be a hung Parliament with a great deal of uncertainty about the results in many electorates.

The second, and third, preference decisions of voters will be more important than ever in determining the result of this year’s Victorian State Election.

One Nation, almost zero donations: Minor party short on election cash

One Nation’s Victorian branch received less than $100 in donations last year, sparking doubt about its strength for this year’s state election battle, although Pauline Hanson’s minor party claims its membership has ballooned at least threefold in Victoria.

The party, which had its first Victorian MP, Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell, elected to the upper house in 2022, has broken through in recent federal and state polling that has upended established wisdom about the two-party system and perceptions of One Nation’s weakness in the state.

The Resolve Political Monitor for The Age, which surveyed Victorians in January and February, estimated support for the party at state level was 11 per cent. Other polls have placed support for One Nation in the 20s, making it a serious player.

What One Nation’s rise means for Labor in Queensland

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

One Nation’s rise has decimated support on the conservative side of politics, triggering an existential reckoning for the Coalition.

Federally, the party has splintered, reformed and changed leaders, while state conservative oppositions in Victoria and South Australia have bled votes to Pauline Hanson’s party.

But the numbers in Queensland, so far, tell a different story.

The latest Resolve Strategic poll for this masthead revealed the first glimpse of a Queensland state-based surge for One Nation – and it appears to have eroded votes from Labor, rather than the LNP.

Injuries And Trade Rumors Shake Up Warriors’ Playoff Push

The Golden State Warriors’ season is shaping up to be a rollercoaster, and as the NBA calendar barrels toward the trade deadline, the Bay Area squad is dealing with a mix of injuries, trade rumors, and playoff ambitions. With the Warriors currently sitting at 27-22 and holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference, every game and every roster move is under the microscope. Fans are left wondering: will the team’s resilience be enough to keep their postseason hopes alive, or will looming roster changes shake up the chase for a playoff berth?

Injury woes have hit the Warriors hard in recent weeks. Monday’s matchup against the Miami Heat on February 2, 2026, will see the Warriors without several key players. Draymond Green is sidelined due to an ankle injury, leaving a significant gap in Golden State’s defensive anchor and leadership on the floor. De’Anthony Melton, dealing with ACL injury management, will also be absent, as will Gui Santos, who is missing his second straight game because of an ankle issue. The Heat are not at full strength either, with Tyler Herro out due to a rib injury, though Miami’s main rotation players are expected to suit up.

The Jimmy Butler Injury Just Sealed The Golden State Warriors’ Trade Deadline Fate

This is, in no uncertain terms, a disaster for the Warriors.

Jimmy Butler left the Golden State Warriors’ dominant Monday night victory over the Miami Heat, his former team, with a right knee injury. Though the severity of this setback was not immediately official, we came to find out that he tore an ACL. His season is now over.

This is, in no uncertain terms, a disaster for the Warriors. They were just rounding into form, having won 12 of their past 16 games. Granted, people remain skeptical that they are a contender. All of the best NBA betting websites have them firmly outside the top-five squads most likely to win it all.

Last year, seven students at one Brisbane public school achieved perfect scores, but none were included in the state’s official count of 37 top ATARs.

Nestled within Toowong’s bucolic backstreets, the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT) produced its strongest year 12 result to date in 2025, said principal Kath Kayrooz.

“What makes me the most proud of this cohort is the young people behind the results,” she said.

The selective-entry high school teaches the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which places final year 12 scores on a 45-point scale. However, Kayrooz said the seven students’ perfect scores were an ATAR-equivalent of 99.95.

State School Celebrates Seven Students Achieving Perfect Scores Last Year

Seven students from the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT) achieved perfect scores last year, but were not included in the state’s official count of top ATARs. This remarkable achievement was highlighted during a recent acknowledgment of the school’s academic performance.

The Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology, located in Toowong, produced its highest Year 12 results in 2025, according to Principal Kath Kayrooz. She praised the students and their supportive environment, emphasizing their ability to thrive academically while also being compassionate individuals.

At QASMT, students follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, where final scores are measured on a scale from 0 to 45. The seven students’ perfect scores equate to an ATAR of 99.95. This accomplishment reflects their hard work and dedication throughout the six-year IB program.

Snow will fall this week from Tuesday, December 23, for at least a couple of days in elevated parts of Tasmania, with a few flakes likely to persist into Christmas Day.

That means a White Christmas for our southernmost state in the heart of the Australian summer.

Tasmanian summer snowfalls often consist of just a few flakes at the state's highest points, such as the summit of Cradle Mountain (1545m) or Tasmania's highest peak Mt Ossa (1617m).

Rare weather phenomenon may treat Aussies to first white Christmas in 19 years

Some among us could be lucky enough to enjoy a white Christmas this year. The rare Australian phenomenon last occurred almost two decades ago.

A senior meteorologist from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) told Yahoo News the "unusual" event is looking likely for some in Tasmania. Others across the country will grapple with extreme heat or storms.

The bureau's Angus Hines said there was "definitely the potential" for some snow in southern and western areas of Tasmania on Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning if the forecast stays true.

"The period where it looks most likely is beginning on Christmas Eve and then heading into the first half of the day on Christmas morning, and then gets increasingly unlikely after maybe 8 or 9 am," he told Yahoo News.

Imran Khan and wife sentenced for state gift fraud

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to further jail terms following a fraud case involving state gifts.

They were convicted of breaking Pakistan's rules on gifts after Bibi was given a luxury jewellery set by Saudi Arabia's Mohammed bin Salman during a 2021 state visit.

The pair are already serving time in prison for earlier convictions, and the new sentences – 10 years for criminal breach of trust and seven years for criminal misconduct, and a fine – will reportedly run concurrently to their earlier terms.

Khan has described the charges as politically motivated and his lawyer told BBC News his team plan to challenge the verdict.

A Pakistani court has convicted and sentenced imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife to 17 years in prison.

They were found guilty of retaining and selling state gifts, according to officials and his party.

Following the verdict, Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party announced plans for protests across the state of Punjab on Sunday.

Former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to 17 years' prison each in a corruption case.

The case relates to luxury watches gifted to Khan by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during official visits, which prosecutors said Khan and his wife then purchased from the state at a heavily discounted price in violation of Pakistan's gift rules.

Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan, wife sentenced to 17 years in corruption case

Khan and his wife have denied accusations that they misrepresented the value of state gifts, including jewellery, and profited from them.

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to 17 years in prison after a Pakistani court found them guilty of illegally retaining and selling valuable state gifts.

The sentence, handed down on Saturday, capped a years-long saga that saw the duo accused of selling various gifts – including jewellery from the Saudi Arabian government – at far below market value. They have denied all charges.

In order to keep gifts from foreign dignitaries, Pakistani law requires officials to purchase them at market value and to declare profits from any sales.
