Storm forward leaves hospital after suffering suspected stroke

The Storm says Kamikamica will now "commence a period of inpatient rehabilitation".

Melbourne Storm forward Tui Kamikamica has left hospital to continue his rehabilitation after suffering a suspected stroke.

The Storm confirmed this morning that Kamikamica had been discharged from Royal Melbourne Hospital to "commence a period of inpatient rehabilitation".

"It is anticipated he will be able to return to the club following his rehabilitation period and continue his recovery under the care of Melbourne Storm medical staff," a club media release read.

Kamikamica experienced what the Storm described as a "medical episode" on Monday morning.

Melbourne Storm can confirm that forward Tui Kamikamica has been discharged from hospital to commence a period of inpatient rehabilitation.

It is anticipated he will be able to return to the Club following his rehabilitation period and continue his recovery under the care of Melbourne Storm medical staff.

The Club would like to thank the medical professionals at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Ambulance Victoria for their outstanding care of Tui and extend its appreciation to everyone who has supported Tui and his family during this difficult time.

Man dies in storm near Athens as Saharan dust shrouds Crete

A man has died near Athens as a storm hits parts of Greece with gale-force winds and flooding, while a Saharan dust storm enveloped the Mediterranean island of Crete.

The man was found under a car in the seaside town of Nea Makri early on Thursday, according to the fire department.

Storm Erminio has flooded streets, closed some schools and moored ferries. There were also reports in local media of people trapped in their vehicles.

On Crete, some flights were disrupted on Wednesday after dust from an African storm filled the air, turning the sky reddy-orange.

Greece's national meteorological service warned of "long-lasting and intense rains and storms" in most parts of the country on Thursday.

Melbourne forward Tui Kamikamica has been rushed to hospital following a suspected stroke on Monday morning.

"He has undergone treatment for a suspected stroke," a club statement read.

Kamikamica, 31, is a Fijian national who arrived at Melbourne in 2017 and played two NRL games that year.

He's amassed 142 appearances for the Storm since then, but missed the 2020 grand final when they beat Penrith to win the title.

Storm Marta prompts suspension of Saturday’s Sevilla v Girona

The LaLiga fixture between Sevilla and Girona, scheduled for 18:30 on Saturday, has been suspended because of Storm Marta and severe rain in Andalucía.

El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Sevilla informed LaLiga they preferred not to play given the conditions, and the league agreed to call it off roughly three hours before kick-off.

Spain’s state meteorological agency Aemet activated weather alerts across all eight Andalusian provinces, with orange warnings in Almería, Cádiz, Granada, Huelva and Seville, and yellow in Córdoba, Jaén and Málaga.

The club sought a postponement to avoid putting travelling supporters at risk, some of whom would have faced journeys of 30, 40 or 50 kilometres in adverse conditions.

Second La Liga fixture postponed as Sevilla-Girona pushed back 24 hours

It has been a dramatic weekend in La Liga, and so far, there has only been one full match played in the competition. After the fixture between Rayo Vallecano and Real Oviedo was called off due to the poor condition of the Vallecas pitch, another game has been suspended.

Sevilla had been due to host Girona at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan at 6:30pm CET on Saturday, but it has been announced that this is no longer the case. As per an official statement from La Liga, the proposed match has been called off, with the same also being said for the Segunda clash between Cadiz and Almeria.

A massive winter storm has brought snow, sleet and freezing rain to much of the US.

Several people have died in New York and Louisiana, while hundreds of thousands of people in the south-east have been without power, with Tennessee and Mississippi hit especially hard.

The ice and snowfall are expected to continue, followed by very low temperatures that could cause "dangerous travel and infrastructure impacts" for days, the US National Weather Service has said.

A massive winter storm in North America has brought sleet, freezing rain and snow to much of the US, with subzero temperatures disrupting air and road traffic.

US winter storm leaves several dead and cuts power

A dangerous winter storm has swept across the US, leaving at least seven people dead and cutting power to hundreds of thousands of homes.

Schools and roads across the country have been closed and flights have been cancelled as "life threatening" conditions stretched from Texas to New England, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

At least two people died of hypothermia in Louisiana, and other deaths linked to the storm have been reported in Texas, Tennessee and Kansas.

As of Sunday afternoon, more than 800,000 households had lost power, according to poweroutage.us. Meanwhile, more than 11,000 flights were cancelled, FlightAware reported.
