Just what the doctor ordered for Arne Slot and Liverpool, a largely stress-free first half. Rio Ngumoha, 17, and Mo Salah, 33, curled two fine goals in the space of five minutes to put Liverpool in control – and, as things stand, four points clear of the Champions League-chasing pack. (Though Chelsea have a game in hand against City tomorrow.)

45+2 min Jones is back on the field, at least for the remainder of this half.

45+1 min “Tim Wheeler was 17 when he recorded Girl From Mars,” writes Matt Dony. “Mary Shelley began drafting Frankenstein at the same age. Picasso already had Science and Charity under his belt by his 17th birthday. And Rio Ngumoha goes and does that. 17. Seventeen. Unbelievable. Still, maybe I’ll still create a masterpiece…”

Mohamed Salah returns to the starting XI — after being dropped for their side's 2-0 defeat at PSG midweek in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.

But Fulham will fancy their chances of getting a result on Merseyside and capping off what's already been a nightmare week for Arne Slot's men, which started with a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup on April 4.

Team selection: Debutant, key returns boost Bombers for Gather Round

Essendon fans will get a first introduction to Sullivan Robey on Saturday afternoon, the exciting debutant one of four inclusions to take on Melbourne for Gather Round.

The Bombers' defensive unit will be bolstered by Jordan Ridley, with the former Crichton Medallist back in action after a solid buildup via the VFL in his comeback from injury. Midfielder Elijah Tsatas has also earned a recall for his first senior game of 2026 following a 36-disposal, eight-clearance effort against Footscray last week.

After missing last week due to concussion protocols, Nate Caddy is raring to go and has reclaimed his spot in the forward half.

AFL debut: Another young Bomber ready to launch

Essendon on Saturday will unveil its fifth debutant of 2026, with Sullivan Robey to play his first game at the highest level.

Robey joins Jacob Farrow, Dyson Sharp, Max Kondogiannis and Hussien El Achkar from last year's draft class to debut for the Bombers in their first season.

The 18-year-old was selected by Essendon with its first pick, No. 9, after an impressive top-age year in the Coates Talent League for Eastern Ranges, which included a 40-disposal, three-goal domination of the Western Jets in their Wildcard match-up, before a four-goal game in the Grand Final.

"Yeah, it's pretty surreal to be picked up by such an awesome club. It's going to be really exciting for 2026 and I can't wait to crack in," Robey said on draft night last November.

North Melbourne young gun Colby McKercher has revealed that Alastair Clarkson’s spray at him in the Good Friday win over Carlton was due to a defensive lapse.

But McKercher says the fiery three-quarter time address came from a place of care as the pair “hugged it out” after the epic comeback win.

2026 NFL draft: Favorite team fits for 20 top prospects

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Mel Kiper Jr. and Tim Hasselbeck weigh in on whether Jeremiyah Love should be a top-10 NFL draft pick. (1:46)

Ahead of the 2026 NFL draft, it's important to remember that team fit can sometimes be more important than talent. In order for the top prospects like Arvell Reese, Jeremiyah Love and Mansoor Delane to reach their star potential, they need the right scheme to maximize their skill set.

I took it upon myself to come up with the 20 best player-to-team matches for Rounds 1 and 2. I factored in player strengths and weaknesses, organizational needs, schemes and coaching staff tendencies. A lot of the tendencies are speculative, as the 10 head coaching changes from this offseason will lead to plenty of system changes. But the overall idea was to find spots where players would be put in a position to succeed because of their traits and the team's existing infrastructure.

Mendoza has been the overwhelming favorite to go No. 1 for months. At this point, it would be shocking if the Raiders were to go in another direction. Tom Brady's public praise of Mendoza's game and leadership only adds to the sense that Las Vegas views him as the franchise quarterback to build around.

Murphy will assist new coach Matthew Lokan in the reserves side, taking care of the backline as assistant coach.

The 26-year-old, who retired after Collingwood's 2023 Grand Final triumph, also officially rejoined the Pies as a development coach this season, but has been with the club since he hung up the boots.

There is one change from Tuesday’s team list, with Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown coming in on the right wing in place of Nick Meaney.

The Victorian product, who debuted against the Cowboys in Townsville last season, replaces Meaney, who has failed to overcome back soreness sustained in Round 3 and will be assessed over the coming week.

The extended bench features a potential Storm debut for off-season recruit and winger Manaia Waitere (1 NRL game).

Formula 1 team Aston Martin has dismissed speculation it will change its team principal.

The team has not finished either of the two grands prix this season, as it has faced major issues related to its Honda-supplied power unit.

The next race of the season will be held in Japan on March 29, a home race for Honda.

Struggling Formula 1 outfit Aston Martin says Adrian Newey will remain team principal despite increasing media speculation he will be replaced by Audi's Jonathan Wheatley.

The www.motorsport.com website reported the acclaimed designer would stand aside to focus on technical matters, with Wheatley returning to Britain from Audi's factory in Switzerland.

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Audi has confirmed the departure of team boss Jonathan Wheatley following reports he will replace Adrian Newey in a similar role at Aston Martin.

On Thursday, ESPN reported F1 design legend Newey is stepping back from the role of team principal to focus on his original job with the team as executive chairman and managing technical partner, which he started in early 2025.

Newey became team principal last November on top of his wider role with the team.

Some outlets had tipped Wheatley to be his replacement as day-to-day team boss, although sources have told ESPN a deal is not done yet.
