Tasked with reinventing himself for Transformation Week, Standley, 17, strayed from his preferred 50s and 60s “jukebox” tunes to perform a modernised version of James Brown’s iconic hit I Got You.

The “feel good” classic got the judges on their feet as much as the crowd, with Kyle Sandilands admitting he could “see that touring”.

Amy Shark told the teen he’s “got a clear lane there, dude, so just go for it”.

Australian Idol: Contestant Charlie Moon reveals how he plans to honour his mother after losing her to brain cancer

Idol hopeful Charlie Moon was fast-tracked to the Top 12 last night with his own rendition of a Beatles classic dedicated to his friends.

But there is one special person the 31-year-old artist from Perth, WA, hopes he gets a chance to honour in the competition — his mum.

Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au following Monday night’s emotional performance, Moon opened up about losing his mother Dawn and how his friends became his “guiding light” through the grief.

The singer’s mother died in November 2023 after a brave battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

'Infectious brightness': tributes flow for rising footy player Emily French

A "wonderful teammate" who had a "genuine kindness" and "loving personality" is how Wynyard's Emily French is being remembered.

The Wynyard Football Club took to social media to confirm the sudden death of the 16-year-old.

Emily, who was a promising footballer, made her NWFL senior women's debut in 2025.

"Emily began her journey at WFC in our under 14 girls team, where her passion and ability shone brightly," the statement said.

"Over the past three seasons, she progressed through our youth girls pathway, and in round six, 2025, made her senior women's debut at 16 years of age."

Emily finished the 2025 season with three senior women's games under her belt, and was named in the side's best twice.

The world’s leading young tennis star has issued a message to Australian teenage phenom Emerson Jones, imploring her to keep her composure and ignore the hype beginning to surround her name.

Speaking after her 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Queenslander Olivia Gadecki in the second round of the Brisbane International, top 10 sensation Mirra Andreeva revealed the recipe for success, that has made her the hottest prospect on the international stage.

Andreeva Learning to Deal with Prodigy Pressure

When Mirra Andreeva raked in Dubai and Indian Wells titles in the span of the month, at the age of 18, expectations and hype soared around the rising Russian. To be fair, it had been growing for a while. In 2023 Andreeva demonstrated her enormous potential by winning her debut main draw matches at Roland-Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open. A year later, she had become a major semifinalist in Paris, where she became the youngest player to reach the last four at a Grand Slam since Martina Hingis.

You’d think she would have entered 2025 virtually immune to the hype, but Andreeva, now ranked No.9 in the world, says that she was hit by another wave last season, and she admitted that it did slow her roll.
