Bill Gates diagnoses problems with AI, but an expert questions his prescription

"There is no plan to ease the entry into the AI era," Gates writes in an essay.

He helped pioneer the personal computer revolution, but Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is hitting the panic button on artificial intelligence, writing in an essay that AI is forging the "most turbulent time in human history."

The 70-year-old Gates issued an urgent warning in the nearly 6,000-word essay published Wednesday on his personal website.

He predicts massive unemployment and economic turmoil, and spells out the consequences of AI falling into the hands of criminals if U.S. and global leaders do not immediately work together to address the dark side of the technology.

'That's up to me': Hardwick takes blame for Petracca's quiet month

Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick says it's his responsibility to figure out how best to use star recruit Christian Petracca

GOLD Coast coach Damien Hardwick says it’s up to him to find a better use of Christian Petracca following a third straight quiet game from the Norm Smith medallist on Saturday.

Petracca had just 12 disposals in the 42-point loss to Brisbane, following 14 against Greater Western Sydney and 16 against Melbourne.

Hardwick agreed it had been a “downturn in form” from a man that had a blazing first half of the season for his new club, but said responsibility lay with him to find a solution.

Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick accepts responsibility for Christian Petracca’s form slump

Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick has accepted responsibility for Christian Petracca’s form slump as the superstar again struggled to have an impact.

Petracca started forward once again against the Lions, but finished the match with just 12 possessions and one behind to his name as the Lions cruised to a 42-point win.

The former Demon has looked a shadow of the player that dominated the competition in the first half of the season.

He hasn’t kicked a goal in the past four weeks and has topped 20 possessions just once in that timeframe as well.

The Suns traded multiple first-round picks to secure the 2021 Norm Smith medallist, but Hardwick says he hasn’t figured out how best to use the 30-year-old.

‘We realise that’: Bennett admits to nagging Rabbitohs issue

Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett has admitted his side is facing a goalkicking issue after Jayden Sullivan kicked one from four against the Bulldogs.

Sullivan is South Sydney’s third-choice kicker with Matt Dufty even having a crack, and missing, on Friday night.

The Rabbitohs halfback had to take the role because Latrell Mitchell, Jamie Humphreys and Ashton Ward are all out injured. Ward injured his hamstring goalkicking last week.

Post-match, Bennett was happy to expand on whether the goalkicking was a problem.

“We’ve got three of them with injuries but can’t do much about it. We’ve just got to keep scoring tries and make sure we defend well. Humphreys should be back in a week or two, he can certainly kick goals.”

    Rabbitohs suffer double injury blow

The South Sydney Rabbitohs will nervously wait when Adam Elliott is sent for scans for a groin injury sustained in the club's 22-6 win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Friday.

Elliott has a long history with groin complaints, most notably requiring surgery in 2023 for a groin issue while he was at the Newcastle Knights.

The 31-year-old forward has also battled an osteitis pubis issue in 2022, with inflammation occurring in the middle of the pelvis, which cut his season short after dealing with the problem for a number of weeks prior.

Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett confirmed it was a groin issue for Elliott in his post-match press conference.

    Rehab Update – Round 24

To say that Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) has been down bad this season of House of Dragon would be putting it lightly. In the wake of being nearly torched to death by his brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and Aemond's dragon Vhagar at the Battle of Rook's Rest in Season 2, Aegon has spent Season 3 dejectedly traipsing around the Crownlands at the behest of his advisor/frenemy Larys Strong (Matthew Needham).

The Tragic Incident That Prompted Queen Elizabeth to Revise the Royal Dress Code for Travel

Queen Elizabeth II proved, quite unwittingly, that the little black dress is a wardrobe staple. Today, all members of the royal family routinely pack a black outfit in their luggage when traveling on official business. This is a protocol established following a moment in the Crown’s history that was as significant as it was tragic.

In February 1952, while on an official trip to Kenya with Prince Philip, the young Princess Elizabeth learned of the sudden death of her father, King George VI. At just 25 years old, she had to return immediately to the United Kingdom, but realized she had packed only summer dresses and no mourning attire.

Queen Elizabeth's mistake that forever changed royal protocol

While members of the royal family now always pack a smart black outfit whenever they travel, such an important protocol wasn't always the case. The measure was only introduced when Queen Elizabeth found herself without the correct ensemble when news of her father King George VI's unexpected death reached her during a visit to Kenya in 1952.

HELLO!'s special issue, Queen Elizabeth II: A Centenary Tribute, published earlier this year, describes how the late monarch had travelled to Africa in place of her 56-year-old father, who had been in poor health for some time. King George VI was battling cancer and four months earlier had undergone an operation to remove part of his lung.

ChatGPT goes after Claude’s business edge with new product drive

Anthropic has stolen OpenAI’s thunder in 2026, but with new product rollouts, the ChatGPT pioneer is fighting back and big Australian customers are on board.

Gilbert + Tobin chief executive Sam Nickless is well aware of the huge risks involved if the firm’s lawyers rely on hallucinating artificial intelligence models to help build their cases, but he is all in on the technology when it comes to using its tools to run the practice.

The firm has been flagged by ChatGPT maker OpenAI as one of the AI giant’s most plugged-in Australian clients amid a spate of major releases, and Nickless says he has just finished using its Codex autonomous AI agent tool to power through a previously laborious aspect of appraisals for the firm’s 112 partners.

Runs your computer while you’re at lunch: ChatGPT for work just dropped

OpenAI has released a turbocharged version of ChatGPT built to automate work tasks, analyse data and create documents, presentations and apps, schedule recurring tasks, and even tackle projects while you’re away from the desk.

The new agent, called ChatGPT Work, is built to plug into users’ existing workflow and gather information across popular work apps Gmail, Slack, Teams, Google Drive, calendars, and more to create finished materials.

Users can go beyond refining prompts to producing reports, building campaign briefs, meeting agendas from Slack messages, and creating interactive dashboards, apps and websites.

“For many folks around the world, for almost a billion users, it’s going to move beyond answering questions to actually getting real work done, and that’s a big shift in how people think about ChatGPT,” OpenAI product marketing executive Sahil Punamia said in a briefing call.

‘That’s what he changed’ – Pedri reveals Barcelona’s biggest transformation under Hansi Flick

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has spoken about Hansi Flick while on World Cup duty with Spain and the changes the German has made at the club during his time in charge.

Pedri says that Flick tweaked his position at Barcelona but also feels the way he changed the team’s entire mentality was key to their recent success.

“Above all, he started putting me at the base of the attack so I’d be in contact with the ball. It’s true that, for example, Luis Enrique also asked me to drop deep, to get on the ball and feel comfortable there,” he told AS.

Pedri sends bold Spain vs Argentina FIFA World Cup final message after stunning Lionel Messi admission | Football News

Pedri hailed Lionel Messi's impact at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, claiming that he hoped for a final showdown between Spain and Argentina. The defending champions beat Cape Verde in their Round of 32 clash and will face Egypt in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, the reigning European champions defeated Austria and are set to face Portugal in the Round of 16.

For Argentina, Messi has defied logic. He is 39 years old, and it would have been fine if he had not performed as he has been playing in this tournament. He is on top of the Golden Boot race with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. They have scored seven goals each.
