Australian Olympic champion Jakara Anthony has kept her stunning Games record alive, making it five rounds of competition unbeaten after she topped moguls qualifying in Livigno.

Four years ago, Anthony also opened with a bang in qualifying and then swept through the next three rounds en route to Australia's first women's moguls gold medal.

The 27-year-old joined her fellow opening ceremony flag-bearer Matt Graham as the two Australian skiers to bypass the next qualification round, with the 2018 silver medallist grabbing the 10th and final spot in the men's event earlier on Tuesday.

Cathy Wilcox’s cartoon (7/1) is disgraceful for three reasons:First, it implies that the calls for a royal commission after the Bondi massacre is a machination of Benjamin Netanyahu. The myriad Australians calling for a commission are functioning adults, who are quite capable of making up their own minds about what is required after the Bondi massacre.Second, it implies that a malign external power is behind the calls for a royal commission. After the Christchurch massacre no one stated that the ″⁣Muslim lobby″⁣ or international Muslim leaders influenced Jacinda Ardern’s swift call for a royal commission. She did so in 10 days.The families of the bereaved in Christchurch were very relieved that this happened so swiftly.Third, the cartoon depicts the ancient antisemitic trope that international Jews are interfering with local politics. This is blatant antisemitic racism. The widespread hatred of Benjamin Netanyahu, and of Israel, is blunting many Australians’ capacity to see what is required after Australia’s worst terrorist massacre.Shame on you.Pia Brous, Armadale

‘Offensive’ cartoon demeans those calling for a royal commission

According to cartoonist Cathy Wilcox, calls for a royal commission into antisemitism are nothing more than the Liberal Party and its enablers marching to Benjamin Netanyahu’s drum, the various business leaders, sports people, etc, who have called for it nothing but useful idiots for the political right (Letters, January 7). So why not hold a royal commission? The various objections raised – takes too long, costs too much, won’t achieve anything – are all general objections, applicable to any and all royal commissions. So are the objectors saying we should never have them? If not, why not? I presume they (Wilcox included) are not saying that this case is not serious enough to justify such a move. If they are, perhaps a reminder is due: Australian citizens have been murdered; they have been murdered because they are Jewish; the murders are the culmination of a two-year spike in antisemitic incidents, causing Jewish schools and places of worship to employ security measures not needed by any other minority group. Bondi did not come out of the blue – Australia has a serious problem. It needs to be addressed, and addressed by the most thorough processes available. Chevy Chase Wants ‘Three Amigos’ Reunion On ‘Only Murders in the Building’: “I Miss Them”

After 40 years, Chevy Chase wants to get the amigos back together.

The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently admitted he’d like to reunite with his Three Amigos (1986) co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short on their Hulu show Only Murders in the Building, which is heading into its sixth season.

“Right now they’re busy on TV making that ‘I only have murders in my building,'” he said during a recent appearance, according to People, as his wife corrected him and noted, “It’s a very good show.”

Chase added, “It’s a good show. Yes, it’s good, they’re good, but they really are lacking me. That’s where we gotta get going. … If you really want to have a movie with Steve and Marty, you have to have me.”

Christmas Day is usually a time for family and basketball, but the NFL is presenting a new challenge for the NBA this holiday season.

After a doubleheader of NFL games on Christmas last year, the league added one more matchup at night to kick off Week 17. All three NFL matchups are between divisional opponents. Meanwhile, the NBA is set to feature its regular slate of five games (all on ABC/ESPN) for the 18th straight year.

10 numbers to know for NBA on Christmas Day 2025

These stats — 2 per team for each Christmas Day game — are ones to know as the Dec. 25 slate approaches.

From LeBron-Kobe in 2010 to a pair of stellar efforts from Kyrie Irving, look back at the top Christmas moments through the years.

The annual Christmas Day slate is about celebrating the game and highlighting the best players in the world, but you’d have a hard time putting together five games that are more important than the ones we’ll have on Thursday.

Three of the games match up each of the top six teams in the Western Conference. The Mavs-Warriors matchup could wind up being critical in the Emirates Play-In Tournament positioning, especially if Kyrie Irving returns this season. NBA Christmas Day: The 5 most interesting players to watch, featuring LeBron James, Cooper Flagg and a rising Spurs star

Every year, we can quibble over whether the NBA’s schedule-makers aced the annual Christmas Day showcase — whether some fan base or another has cause to feel aggrieved over its squad not getting the brightest possible spotlight (we see you, Detroit!) or whether one participant or another has ridden too long on the struggle bus this season to make for a particularly compelling watch (hey there, Mavs-Warriors!). But while the powers that be are unlikely to ever fully nail all 10 teams and all five games, they have, inarguably, seeded the holiday slate with plenty of eye-catching talent.

The 2025 Christmas quintuple-header features the defending NBA champions, eight top-10 offenses and six top-10 defenses. A man has killed three people after throwing smoke bombs into Taipei's metro station and stabbing people nearby.

Authorities say the suspect is also dead after falling from a building during a police chase.

A knife-wielding attacker has killed at least three people at metro stations in Taipei, with authorities saying the suspect also died after trying to flee police.

Taiwan's Premier Cho Jung-tai said the attacks at Taipei Main Station and Zhongshan station were "a deliberate act", although the motive was not immediately clear.

Mr Cho said in a statement that the suspect wore a mask and threw "five or six gasoline bombs or smoke grenades" at Taipei Main Station.

The suspected assailant is among the dead after he fell from a building during a police chase through a busy shopping district on Friday evening.

One of the victims was killed as they tried to stop the attack inside Taipei’s Main station, according to the city’s mayor, Chiang Wan-an.

Taiwan: Knife attacker kills three after smoke bombing Taipei metro

At least three people have been killed and nine others injured as a knife-wielding attacker ‍went ‍on a rampage in the Taiwanese capital Taipei.

The 27-year-old suspect set off smoke bombs at Taipei's main metro station, before running to another station in a busy shopping district, stabbing people along the way, Taiwanese Premier Cho Jung-tai said.

The suspect, named by officials as Taiwanese man Chang Wen, later died after falling from a multi-storey building, Cho added. His motive remains unclear.

Attacks of this kind are rare in Taiwan, which has low rates of violent crime. The last time a similar incident struck Taipei was more than a decade ago in 2014.
