Arsenal sign Greece forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34m

Arsenal have completed the Â£34m signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. The Greece international, 24, has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions and arrives as a replacement for Leandro Trossard following the Belgianâs switch to Besiktas.

Tzolisâs move to the Emirates Stadium â Arsenalâs third permanent transfer of the summer â arrives 48 hours after the north Londoners missed out on Morgan Rogers who signed a Â£117m British-record fee with Chelsea, describing his new employers as the âbiggest club in Londonâ.

Tzolis scored 43 times in 108 appearances for Club Brugge, and lined up in the Belgiansâ 3-0 Champions League defeat by Mikel Artetaâs side in December. âI need some time to realise it, I think,â Tzolis said. ââ Itâs absolutely amazing to sign for such a big âclub, the champions of âEngland. Iâm very âproud to be part of this team for âthe next season.â

Christos Tzolis has revealed he cut short his summer holiday to ensure he was ready for a move to Arsenal after learning the club were interested in signing him.

Fresh from helping Club Brugge secure their 20th league title, the Greece international allowed himself a well-earned break, but not for long. Aware that a move to north London was gathering pace, he kept up his fitness work throughout the summer so he would be ready to hit the ground running if the transfer went through.

That move, reportedly worth €40 million, was confirmed today, with the 24-year-old now focused on settling quickly and making an immediate impact at the Emirates.

Kevin Walters will likely have to find a new winger for the Kangaroos' World Cup campaign with Mark Nawaqanitawase reportedly opting out. Nawaqanitawase is heading back to rugby at season's end in a bid to play for the Wallabies at the World Cup in 2027.

A tug-of-war had erupted over his services, with the Kangaroos keen for him to play the rugby league World Cup in October and November. But Rugby Australia wanted him to play for the Wallabies on the Spring tour of Europe at the same time.

However reports have emerged that the Roosters winger won't do either and will instead head to pre-season training with Saitama Wild Knights in Japan. According to The Daily Telegraph, the Wild Knights want Nawaqanitawase to arrive on November 1 ahead of trial matches in mid-November and the start of the season in December.

One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce has defended party leader Pauline Hanson after she was spotted poolside with billionaire Gina Rinehart at a luxury Italian resort.

The One Nation leader and mining magnate, who is a benefactor for the party, were snapped this week in the Sicilian holiday town of Taormina, made famous in season two of The White Lotus.

“It’s a holiday, isn’t it? I mean, I don’t care if it’s Dolce Gabbana or Prada, as long as you’re paying for it, darling, I don’t care,” Joyce told Today.

Aussie battler: Hanson joins Gina poolside on White Lotus holiday in Sicily

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has taken a break from her speaking tour of England to spend time with her benefactor, billionaire Gina Rinehart, at a luxury resort in Sicily.

Photos posted to Instagram and first revealed in The Australian Financial Review show Hanson spending time poolside at the Grand Hotel San Pietro in the resort town of Taormina – where the second season of The White Lotus was filmed – while Rinehart swims in the pool.

Rinehart was in Taormina for a fashion show put on by Italian label Dolce & Gabbana on Monday. Rinehart is known to wear the high-end brand, once making headlines by appearing at The CEO Magazine 2022 Executive Of The Year Awards in Sydney in $1600 bejewelled Dolce & Gabbana thongs.

TPS Terminations: What You Need to Know

Since taking office, the Trump administration has moved to formally terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 13 countries, impacting more than one million people who have been living in the U.S. with protection and work authorization while conditions in their home countries are unsafe for return.

All of the terminations have been challenged in court, with plaintiffs generally arguing that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not follow the legally required process to terminate the designations, including incomplete or inaccurate assessments of conditions in those countries. What to know about 'explosive diarrhoea' parasite outbreak in US

An outbreak of a diarrhoea-causing parasite is hitting more than half US states, with thousands of cases reported in recent weeks.

Cyclosporiasis is an infection caused by a microscopic parasite, with the main symptom being frequent, watery and explosive diarrhoea. People can become infected by consuming food or water that contains the parasite.

The outbreak now spans 31 states. It has hit Michigan particularly hard, with the state reporting on Friday that more than 1,000 people were diagnosed in a two-week period.

No deaths from the recent infections have been reported in the US. While the source has not yet been identified, past outbreaks have been linked to foodborne illness in raw produce.

Cyclosporiasis outbreak: No-one knows why more than a thousand Americans have explosive diarrhoea

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of an outbreak of a rare parasite that causes explosive diarrhoea in the United States.

There have been more than 1400 cases of cyclosporiasis in the US in the past month, with more than 1000 in the state of Michigan alone.

By contrast, Michigan typically records 50 cases of cyclosporiasis in a year.

There have also been more than 500 cases in neighbouring Ohio. The disease has also been diagnosed as far afield as New York, Oregon and Texas.

The disease is caused by a microscopic parasite called the Cyclospora cayetanensis, which can spread through food and water.

In a statement, SA Police confirmed they were investigating a collision between a car and pedestrian on Port Road at Woodville that occurred this morning.

"Both parties attended police stations this afternoon to report the collision," police said.

Police said they did not attend the scene and would not provide further details due to privacy principles.

The Adelaide Football Club also confirmed in a statement that one of its players was in a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
