Boy George might not have made it through to the Eurovision final with San Marino, but still had a “fabulous” time making his somewhat surreal appearance on one of the world’s biggest stages.

The Culture Club star joined the country’s 2026 entry SENHIT onstage in Vienna, Austria, during the first semi-final, where they performed her song “Superstar” together.

Shock as Boy George eliminated from Eurovision just shy of finals

Star singer and surprise Eurovision hopeful Boy George has been eliminated from the titular song writing contest.

Appearing alongside fellow San Marino representative Senhit, the '80s music icon and the Italian-born singer performed the song they co-wrote to raucous reception.

Donning a variation of his signature oversized hat and emerging on a glittering throne – the theatrics were sadly not enough to secure the necessary votes for the pair to progress.

Though they failed to secure the tiny nation a place in Saturday's showpiece, George met the disappointing news with a smile and a wave.

Senhit, 46, was just as gracious in defeat after what was her fourth failed Eurovision title attempt.

Who is Boy George representing in Eurovision 2026?

The Eurovision Song Contest is known for pulling out all the stops with its surprises each year, and it came as quite the shock to UK fans when it was revealed Boy George had a link to this year's competition – but for a different nation.

Ever since it was revealed that Boy George had an uncredited role in San Marino's entry song Superstar, speculation has been rife as to whether he would represent San Marino and perform during the competition.

San Marino has been represented at Eurovision 15 times, but has never quite found the recipe for success. The nation is being represented by SENHIT, who has previously taken part in Eurovision three times but has never quite reached heights on the leaderboard.
