President Trump announced that Welles Crowther, a Boston College graduate who saved 18 people during the Sept. 11 attacks, will be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Trump made the announcement Friday at a campaign rally for Congressman Mike Lawler in Rockland County, N.Y., where Crowther was born.

“Boy, what bravery,” Trump said. “Saved those people and became a legend in a sense. Nobody else would have done what he did, so he is going to be getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”

Crowther graduated from Boston College in 1999 and was an equities trader in the South Tower of the World Trade Center at the time of the attacks, according to his Boston College biography.
