Back in Baku, Azerbaijan for the second consecutive year, the action on Saturday’s preliminary card at the National Gymnastics Arena took a moment to get rolling. Once it did, there was no slowing things down, as six of the first seven bouts ended inside the distance, including the fastest finish of the year, before wrapping with a unanimous decision win for unbeaten local Farman Hasanov.

Farman Hasanov fended off exhaustion to close out the prelims with a unanimous decision win over Eric Nolan in his promotional debut, giving the host nation victories at both ends of the opening slate.
Farman Hasanov Breaks Welterweight Single Round Takedown Record In Dominant Win
Eric Nolan, in search of his first UFC victory, welcomed Farman Hasanov to the promotion at UFC Baku on Saturday, in a welterweight fight that served as the card’s featured prelim.
Azerbaijan’s own Hasanov was debuting at home, 5-0 to start his professional MMA career, with three of those wins coming under the LFA banner. A bit of an early arrival to the UFC perhaps, with the signing clearly due to the UFC’s return to Baku.
30 seconds in, Hasanov quickly got the takedown. On the back, Nolan kept working back to his feet, but Hasanov kept hitting mat returns and staying all over him. Nolan refused to accept the bottom position, but Hasanov stayed glued to him the entire time. He eventually got both legs and dragged Nolan down away from the cage.

Bakcell becomes official partner of UFC Baku martial arts competition
Azerbaijan operator Bakcell will act as the official partner of the upcoming UFC martial arts competition in Baku. The tournament, set to take place at the National Gymnastics Arena, will feature some of the most renowned fighters, including athletes representing Azerbaijan, the operator said. This is the second consecutive year that Bakcell has supported a UFC event in Azerbaijan.
