Derryn Hinch has been remembered for his long and memorable career as a broadcaster, as well as his outspoken but likeable personality, at a state funeral service in Melbourne.

Today his friends, family and colleagues remembered him as "brave and brash, with an ego that could light up a small city".

Australian broadcaster and former senator Derryn Hinch has been remembered as a prolific journalist with a kind heart.

Hinch died aged 82 on July 10 after several years of declining health.

The media personality died earlier this month after a long battle with poor health.
