Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is taking legal action against the police over his arrest earlier this year.

A court hearing will take place ​after the former prince requested a judge examine ‌the lawfulness ⁠of search warrants preceding his arrest.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of leaking government documents to the late ​sex ‌offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Former prince to challenge whether Thames Valley police acted lawfully over searches relating to his arrest

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is taking action against Thames Valley police to challenge the legality of search warrants that led to his arrest earlier this year, a judicial spokesperson has said.

A private high court hearing is due to take place before Mr Justice Hilliard on Thursday to determine whether documents related to the the former Duke of York’s call for a judicial review can be made public; with Thames Valley police in opposition.

The legal fight stems from the issuing of warrants by an Old Bailey judge that allowed police to raid Mountbatten-Windsor’s residence on the Sandringham estate, and his former Windsor home, Royal Lodge, in February. Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, in the wake of information that emerged from the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Former British Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has launched a High Court challenge to “quash search warrants” obtained by the police before his arrest earlier this year.

The judiciary confirmed on Monday that a London court is likely to hold a private hearing on Thursday as Mountbatten-Windsor challenges Thames Valley Police over searches of his former homes on royal estates.

The disgraced royal was arrested on February 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations that he shared sensitive information with the late American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy.
