Rangers manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "The job today was to win the game.
"Eight of my starting XI were away travelling [on international duty]. I didn't want to mess about with the team being in such good form. The job was done well for enough spells but we looked like a team that hadn't been together for a while.
"The break is too long for me and it impacts on clubs when there's so many away.
Scottish Premiership: Naderi puts Rangers top and Hearts rout St Mirren

Kevin Kelsy was also on target before the break as Rangers leapfrogged Celtic, who will move back top if they get a result at Motherwell on Sunday.
It was a sixth consecutive league win for Rangers, but they missed out on a fifth successive clean sheet when the Kilmarnock substitute Nicky Clescenco netted on a last-minute counterattack.
Hearts eased to their biggest home win in the league for three-and-a-half years as they dismantled St Mirren 5-0 to remain on the coat-tails of Rangers and Celtic.
