‘Millions’ facing deluge as Queensland storms spread
South-east Queensland is braced for another deluge on Friday, after a heavy downpour saw school closures and flash floods in the region.
Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Angus Hines said rain was expected to continue in eastern Queensland throughout the day, though falls will be less heavy.
“Widespread rain and storms through much of the east, but not as much rain as what we’ve already seen falling (on Thursday) morning,” he said.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in place for the region around Rolleston in the Central Highlands, south-west of Rockhampton.
Multiple flood warnings are also in place throughout the state, while the SES received 141 calls for assistance in the south-east from 2pm on Thursday to 4am on Friday.
