'Bit of work to do' as Roos push Demons on Duursma deal
Forward is seeking a trade to Melbourne but as a former No.4 pick, North is looking for a good return
NORTH Melbourne and Melbourne still have a bit to work through when it comes to how – and if – young forward Zane Duursma will make his way to the Demons this trade period.
The exciting Duursma has requested a trade to Melbourne, but how a deal will be struck remains to be seen.
North Melbourne list manager Brady Rawlings still holds out hope that Duursma could remain at Arden Street, despite his trade request.
"It depends on what Melbourne wants to put forward to us. We'd obviously love to keep Zane and he has so much potential, we've seen it in parts over the last three years. As we progress our footy club, we really see him playing a major part for us, we value him really highly," Rawlings told AFL.com.au on Monday.

AFL trade period 2026: Updates from day two of dealing
Richmond have secured ex-Fremantle winger Nathan O’Driscoll in a low-cost move to bolster Adem Yze’s midfield division.
The Tigers handed over pick 61 for O’Driscoll in the only completed deal on the second day of the trade period on Tuesday.
However, Hawthorn did lodge paperwork for sharpshooter Ben King to join as a free agent from Gold Coast, while Zane Duursma doubled down on his request to move to Melbourne, and will not consider staying with the Kangaroos.
O’Driscoll, who played a career-most 17 matches this season, informed the Dockers in the past week that he would explore his opportunities elsewhere after rejecting a three-year offer.
