Singapore admitted as latest International Rugby League Member
International Rugby League’s full members have admitted Singapore into the general assembly, with the southeast Asian country of six million inhabitants becoming the 58th national federation to join the IRL family.
“Becoming a member of International Rugby League is an important milestone for Singapore Rugby League and a major step forward for the sport in Singapore" said Tony Marshall, President of Singapore National Rugby League. "In a relatively short time, we've brought competitive rugby league back to Singapore, established a domestic competition and celebrated success on the international stage. None of this would have been possible without the hard work and commitment of our clubs, players, coaches, officials and volunteers, who have helped lay the foundations for the game's future.

Australia 24-22 New Zealand: men’s Rugby League World Cup – live reaction
New Zealand will be disappointed to lose but their performance level was sufficient to win that match nine times out of ten. They probably would have won tonight if Hughes had not overcooked his kick on the last with five minutes to go.
If this is the final pairing in a monthâs time the Kiwis will head to Brisbane with plenty of confidence, especially after the way James Fisher-Harris, Joseph Tapine, Moses Leota and co dominated up front.
Their greater concern coming out of the night will be the fitness of Kalyn Ponga. He is their focal point and game breaker. If he is out for an extended period he cannot be replaced like-for-like, it will require a reshuffle that could unsettle the balance of the side.
