Apple hit by ‘Crackgate’ over iPhone Duo screen complaints
San Francisco | The iPhone Duo, one of Apple’s biggest new products in years, is drawing a growing number of complaints from customers who say their foldable displays cracked after just hours or days of use.
In a phenomenon already dubbed “Crackgate”, customers have reported hearing a crunching sound when unfolding the phone, followed by a large crack forming along the centre crease. Some users also experienced a white patch or other display malfunction on the right side of the screen.

Apple to replace iPhone Duos affected by screen problem
Apple has acknowledged some of its iPhone Duo handsets have developed problems with their screens, just days after the highly-anticipated smartphone went on sale.
Photos posted on social media show lines that appeared on the screens of the technology giant's first ever foldable device, which has a starting price of £1,999 ($2,668) in the UK.
Apple said it was aware of "an issue impacting the inner display on a small number" of the phones and urged affected users to contact the company for a replacement.
The Duo's launch, which attracted crowds at Apple stores around the world last week, is an attempt to reinvigorate the brand's device range and challenge the foldable phones made by rivals.

Company says small number of devices affected by display glitch after posts appear on Reddit and social media
Owners of the new foldable iPhone are reporting cracks in the deviceâs screen, as Apple confirmed an issue with a âsmall numberâ of units.
Reports of cracks have emerged on Reddit and social media platforms since the handset went on general sale globally on Friday. Experts said there had been too few examples to determine whether there was a more serious problem with Appleâs first foldable device, which retails from $1,999 (£1,499).
