Home>Weather News>Melbourne shivers through coldest November day in 80 years

Parts of southern and eastern Victoria have endured their coldest and wettest November days in decades, with Melbourne itself measuring its equal-coldest November 24-hour maximum since 1945.

The cool conditions across Victoria were associated with brisk southerly winds ushering in a cold airmass and the persistence of cloud and rain. Despite winds blowing across the bay, with water temperatures of around 15ºC, the mercury in Melbourne failed to rise above a bone-rattling 12.7ºC across the city – about 8-9ºC below average. The maximum was achieved right before 9am on Sunday, November 9th, with daytime temperatures trending cooler than nighttime temperatures as seen below. When adding in the wind chill factor, temperatures would have felt as cold as 5-6ºC at times during the day, which is more winter-like than spring-like.

Today, this city felt 25 degrees. Tomorrow, it'll feel like 5

Citi Raises Nvidia Price Target to $720 Ahead of Earnings

Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) just got another confidence boost from Wall Street. Ahead of its upcoming earnings report, Citi Research raised its price target on the AI chip leader to $720 from $650, saying demand for Nvidia's processors remains as strong as ever.

Citi's analysts called Nvidia the undisputed leader in artificial intelligence computing a title it has earned thanks to relentless demand for its H100 chips and growing excitement over its next-generation Blackwell GPUs. Those products are expected to power data centers well into 2026 as companies race to expand their AI infrastructure.

While some investors worry about chip supply constraints and pricing fluctuations, Citi said Nvidia's long-term advantage lies in its deep ties with cloud giants, software ecosystem, and unmatched developer tools a combination that keeps competitors at bay.

XRP Price Regains Traction as Whales Return and Volatility Rises | 3 Bearish Signals for XRP | XR…

Explore the latest developments concerning XRP Price Regains.

XRP Price Regains Traction as Whales Return and Volatility Rises

XRP price started a decent increase above $2.350. The price is now consolidating and might aim for more gains above the $2.50 level.

XRP price started a recovery wave above $2.20 and $2.250, like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The price gained pace for a clear move above the $2.35 resistance.

There was a break above a key contracting triangle with resistance at $2.33 on the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair. The pair even surpassed the $2.420 barrier. A high was formed at $2.478 and the price started a consolidation phase above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $2.240 swing low to the $2.478 high.

The price is now trading above $2.40 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. The bulls are now active near $2.450. If there is a fresh upward move, the price might face resistance near the $2.480 level. The first major resistance is near the $2.50 level, above which the price could rise and test $2.550.

    3 Bearish Signals for XRP

Crypto fans have high hopes for XRP, but it still will have to deliver on its potential.

It has been quite the year for XRP (XRP +9.39%). The token hit a five-year high of over $3.50 in July as optimism surged about the end of the long legal battle that its developer, Ripple Labs, had been engaged in with the Securities and Exchange Commission, among other things. However, since then, the crypto's price has trended downwards.

XRP acts as a financial bridge and is the native asset of the XRP Ledger. It excels in making cross-border international payments easier. Let's say a U.S. company wants to pay a supplier in Europe. Rather than converting dollars into euros, it might put the dollars into XRP and then transfer the crypto to the supplier's wallet. The recipient could then convert that XRP into their own currency.

XRP Adoption Explodes — So Why Is the Price Crashing? The Hidden Risk No One Sees

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is seeing a significant surge in utility and on-chain activity, driven by the commencement of stablecoin testing by global financial giants.

Despite these powerful fundamental signals—including a 12% price gain and a record number of new wallets—XRP's market value continues to decline. This creates a sharp divergence. It separates the rapid institutional adoption of the XRPL infrastructure and XRP's price action. This raises questions: are macro headwinds overshadowing technical progress?

The latest institutional validation for the XRPL arrived as Mastercard joined Ripple and Gemini to begin testing the RLUSD (Ripple USD) stablecoin directly on the ledger. This institutional adoption immediately translated into a surge in on-chain activity: the number of new XRP wallets hit a record high, reflecting increased user engagement and interest in the ecosystem. Furthermore, a 12% price gain between November 5 and 6 underscored the market's positive short-term reaction to the news.

The Golden Bachelor's Barry 'Bear' Myrden and host Samantha Armytage appear to dodge cameras at Sydney Airport as they jet off to South Africa to film explosive finale

Barry 'Bear' Myrden attempted to keep a low profile ahead of The Golden Bachelor's inaugural season finale.

The leading man was seen arriving at Sydney Airport alongside the series' host Samantha Armytage as they prepared to jet off to South Africa for the show's explosive final episodes.

The pair, who were at the centre of romance rumours earlier this year when they attended the Logies together, attempted to dodge cameras as they made their way through the airport and headed to the check-in desk.

Bear rocked a summery ensemble for the travel day, wearing a blue button-up shirt with a white palm tree print, which he unbuttoned halfway to reveal a glimpse of his chest.

The Golden Bachelor's final two REVEALED: Barry 'Bear' Myrden's top picks go undercover at Sydney Airport ahead of explosive South Africa finale – but we know exactly who they are

The Golden Bachelor's inaugural Australian season is in its final stretch, with just a few episodes left before fans find out who wins the heart of Barry 'Bear' Myrden.

And now, pictures exclusively obtained by Daily Mail reveal which lucky ladies make the final two and jet off to South Africa for the grand finale.

The bachelorettes went to great lengths to disguise themselves as they arrived at Sydney International Airport in April.

The women were dressed in identical outfits, wearing black hoodies, plaid scarves, face masks, black caps and oversized sunglasses as they made their way through the airport to board their flight to Johannesburg for the last episodes.

Episode 7 Recap: Awkward feud between two women reaches boiling point over 'friendzoning' – before brutal elimination decides final three

Welcome to the final two weeks of The Golden Bachelor – what a journey it has been so far!

With only five women remaining in Bear's search for love, it's definitely crunch time.

Every moment counts… as does every move. Grab your tights and your tutus, we're at the Sydney Opera House and it's ballet time.

So far, Bear's been subjecting the poor women to things he likes, such as sailing on the beautiful Sydney harbour and spending time in lush, green nature.

But today, he's the one getting out of his comfort zone because they're getting their dance on!

Some of the women are excited because they like dancing. All of them are excited at maybe seeing Bear in tights.

The story behind Australia's incredible democratic system

Behind the quirks of Australia's incredible democratic system are a series of complex human backstories. (ABC News)

As a nation, we sort of vaguely understand this, and take a generalised pride in the triennial democracy sausage, and the beige, competent omnipresence of the Australian Electoral Commission.

Annabel Crabb unearths the individuals and stories behind the features that combine to make Australian democracy globally unique.

But the itemised list of our peculiarities, and the tales that twine around the getting of them at various points along the life-span of our young Federation — just 125 years old next year! — is worth reviewing, if you have a moment.

Civic Duty: Annabel Crabb is on a one-woman mission to make Australian politics interesting

Australian politics: it’s enough to make your eyes glaze over — especially if you’re a 10-year-old kid being forced to sit through a HASS lesson on how our unique parliamentary system works.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if there was a way to make people “marvel at the miracle that is the Australian electoral process” instead of rolling their eyes and running for the nearest exit?

Annabel Crabb is on a mission to prove that there is — she’s taking Aussie audiences along for the ride via her new series Civic Duty for ABC, and engaging the younger generation through her recently-released children’s book, There’s A Prawn In Parliament House: The Kids’ Guide To Australia’s Amazing Democracy.

Ever since she started knocking on politicians’ doors in 2012 for Kitchen Cabinet, Annabel Crabb has been determined to put a human face on our elected representatives. She has always made them reveal more than what they could, or could not, cook: Christopher Pyne was funny, former treasurer Joe Hockey lived like a sharehouse student, while former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce blithely served up beef stew to the non-meat-eating Crabb.

All Her Fault review – Sarah Snook’s terrifying thriller is an absolute pleasure to watch

This extraordinarily tight child kidnap drama knits all its threads together brilliantly – and the mighty Snook of Succession fame shines as a mother whose son is missing

Look, I am a mother, a neurotic and – if one of my HRT patches sloughs off without me noticing – very quickly a clinical paranoiac. But even if that were not true, this latest tale of a playdate gone unthinkably wrong would have me firmly in its grip. All Her Fault, an adaptation of bestselling thriller writer Andrea Mara’s 2021 book of the same name, braids a number of popular TV trends together, interrogating White Lotus-style the phenomenon of middle-class US affluence and the protections it offers and corruptions it encourages, a missing child narrative and an examination of the penalty women pay for motherhood. It is rare that all these things are held in balance, without at least one element becoming preachy or the thriller part becoming baggy or preposterous, but All Her Fault manages it brilliantly.

It feels like Big Little Lies, but Sarah Snook’s domestic thriller is so much more

We’re sorry, this feature is currently unavailable. We’re working to restore it. Please try again later.

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them any time.

The domestic thriller has become a staple of prestige television over the past decade, in no small part because 2017’s Big Little Lies provided such a compelling template: big-name ensemble cast, glamorous lifestyles, stunning real-estate porn and scenery and, above all, the satisfying revelation that beneath the perfect facades, those blissed-out have-it-alls are actually tearing each other apart.

All Her Fault, set in Chicago but shot in Melbourne, is cast very much from that mould. But while it starts out looking pretty cookie-cutter, it soon carves an identity all its own, and rather inspired at that.

Breaking Down the Devastating Ending of All Her Fault

Years of buried lies have unraveled by the time Carrie Finch (Sophia Lillis) shakily raises a gun at the Irvine family in the finale of All Her Fault. Across eight episodes, the series explores how love can twist into possession and how far a parent will go to protect their child. The ending doesn’t simply answer what happened to Milo Irvine (Duke McCloud) after his mother Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook) arrives to pick him up from a playdate only to learn he has disappeared; it exposes the crime that made his abduction feel inevitable, then asks what justice looks like when the person you must escape is the one who shares your bed.

Episode 8 Recap: Psychic best friend declares Bear is 'not genuine' during Hometown visits – before Bear decides his final two

With just three women remaining, it's time to get out of the mansion and fly around the country.

Or, in the case of our first Hometown visit, sit in Sydney traffic for the same amount of time as an interstate flight.

For seven episodes, Bear's been in charge of the dates as he's built connections with Janette, Kim and Sunny – but now he's on their turf to see how they spend their time and, of course, be grilled by their nearest and dearest.

First up, it's Sunny in Sydney and she's organised a trip to the driving range to see if Bear's improved his golf form since their first meeting on the opening night's red carpet.

Mamamia recaps The Golden Bachelor: One contestant's daughter poked the Bear.

After Sunday night's hectic double dumping, it's time for the hometowns episode! Sunny is up first as she declares "I'm the CEO for today!" And I believe her! She invites Bear to a driving range in Sydney so she can rub her butt into him.

"He's very obedient! Not a grizzly bear, a very obedient Bear," she assesses. Important!

They sit down together and Sunny tells Bear that she's 'in love with' him. His reply. "Ugh, really!" Lol. This is just what every woman wants to hear in reply to such sentiments.

Sunny then admits she only became single six months ago. Wait, what? This is a wild thing to drop so late in the show.
