    Annual parade a big highlight of Bentley’s rodeo week

    The annual parade is a popular part of Bentley rodeo week, which runs through to Aug. 8.

    This year is also about saluting the 60th anniversary of the Bentley Arena, organizers say.

    The Bentley Rodeo Committee, not to mention the town as a whole, is excited about seeing the rodeo back this year after it was cancelled last year due to extensive arena renovations and modernizations.

    Meanwhile, this year’s parade was held on Aug. 6, and drew plenty of folks out to take in the sites on Main Street.

    Following the parade, which was organized by the Sunset Hills Riding Club, the junior rodeo was scheduled.

    Longmire, who joined the More than Footy Podcast, presented by Bing Lee, to launch his new autobiography Pain, Perspective and Premierships, was an assistant coach with the Swans during their historic premiership triumph in 2005, before coaching the Swans in their Grand Final victory over Hawthorn in 2012.

    Roberts-Thomson, one of four players to win two premierships with the Swans (2005 and '12), produced arguably career-best performances on both occasions and is revered amongst Swans fans, and Longmire, for being the ultimate big-game player.

He was relentlessly spamming a gigantic, ball-shaped lamp on and off, the ground around him flicking from inky dark to warm pastel pink and back again, like a single Christmas light blinking from afar.

There are no geese here, though your colourful avatars do have a somewhat birdlike quality; big or small, that nose is slightly beakish. My father was born in Abruzzo, and I was always close to Italian culture as a result, but I spent years trying to distance myself from it. It was a futile resistance.     Fagan’s first big rebuild signing hits historic double milestone

    Charlie Cameron is a veritable feast of football content and quirky football facts this week ahead of a major reward for a huge career decision nine years ago.

    Cameron is the #1 Member of the Chris Fagan Brisbane Lions Rebuilding Program, having made a call in October 2017 to walk away from an AFL grand final side and join the wooden-spooners.

    Decorated Sydney Sixers captain not offered new deal, announces retirement from Australian cricket

    Moises Henriques, the most capped cricketer in Australian domestic history, has today announced his NSW and Sydney Sixers retirement.

    After calling time on his 131-game first-class career more than a year ago, Henriques played five matches during the Blues' triumphant One-Day Cup campaign last season and led the Sixers to the BBL|15 Final.

    The 39-year-old was not offered a contract for the coming KFC BBL|16 season and had undergone back surgery in February.

    "I had interest from other BBL teams, but it just didn't feel right to go elsewhere," Henriques said.

    'Didn't feel right': NSW cricket great calls stumps

    Australia's most-capped domestic cricketer, NSW great Moises Henriques, has retired after not being offered a fresh BBL contract.

    Henriques' beloved Sydney Sixers opted not to give the 39-year-old a deal for this summer and he was courted by other BBL franchises.

    But Henriques, who played four Test matches and 420 domestic matches overall, says joining a rival of the Sixers "didn't feel right".

    "Unfortunately for me, I haven't been offered a contract with the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming season," he said on Thursday.

    "After a bit of deliberation, I have decided that it's time for me to call stumps on my BBL career and any playing commitments for NSW cricket moving forward.

    ‘He just wants to see the best version of us’: Harry Kane accepts Tuchel criticism

    Harry Kane has insisted Thomas Tuchel’s strong criticism of England’s performance after their quarter-final win against Norway in Miami was driven by their failure to bring their excellence from the training ground into matches.

    The England captain also suggested that Tuchel’s words had been designed to keep the players on their toes before the semi-final against Argentina in Atlanta on ­Wednesday because “he knows as much as ­anyone that it’s not as simple as that … he’s trying to drag it out of us”.

    Tuchel has been frustrated at ­various points of the tournament with the lack of cohesion and ­composure from his team. He did not pull his punches after the Norway game, saying he was unhappy with the performance “in every sense”. The German complained about the high number of technical mistakes, the lack of speed and said the team had been “lucky”.

    ‘Crocodile tears’: Allan’s Big Build corruption apology slammed

    Premier Jacinta Allan has been referred to Victoria’s anti-corruption watchdog over allegations her office directed builders to cut a deal with the CFMEU and a labour hire company being investigated by state police.

    Allan on Monday apologised for widespread corruption within her government’s $100 billion Big Build program but resisted calls for a royal commission despite growing pressure, including from within the ruling Labor Party.

    Premier referred to corruption watchdog over Big Build

    A state premier has been referred to an anti-corruption watchdog over allegations her office directly intervened to allow CFMEU corruption.

    Victoria’s corruption watchdog has been asked to investigate Premier Jacinta Allan.

    The under-fire premier is accused of personally intervening to ensure a CFMEU-backed consortium was hired to deliver one of the state’s Big Build projects.

    The complaint, lodged by shadow Attorney- General James Newbury, has asked Victoria’s Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission to investigate Allan and any of her staff involved in the deal when she was transport infrastructure minister in 2022.

    “IBAC has the power to look at what the premier and her office may have done in relation to these decisions,” Newbury told reporters.

    Time to go, premierReading Premier Jacinta Allan’s letter of contrition in The Age (3/7) apropos what happened on the Big Build and how to ensure it never happens again, one is immediately struck that this was the Clayton’s apology you give when you are not really giving one at all.Instead it became a panegyric – a chance to list her government achievements. To avoid direct questions on the Big Build costs she tried to use global events such as inflation to smooth over the extraordinary high costs of these projects. Finally as a sort of incidental, came the admission that some malfeasance took place on the building sites and rounded off with the usual “how shocking and unacceptable” this was.Nowhere is mentioned the part her government and, in particular she as the minister directly responsible, played. Sorry, premier. This sleight of hand, poorly thought out prestidigitation just does not cut it with the public and through your constant self-exculpation and failure to take complete responsibility you should resign.Tony Davidson, Glen Waverley

    A travel guide has issued an urgent warning to Aussies looking to travel to Bali, amid reports of a rise in pickpocket crime plaguing the Indonesian holiday hotspot.

    Samantha, an Australian travel guide and influencer who regularly shares travel information about Bali online, posted a video earlier this month warning about the worrying trend.

    In the video, which has since been viewed more than 250,000 times, the content creator claims locals had noticed a rise in phone snatching and jewellery grabbing, typically by people passing on mopeds.

    The influencer said it was causing tourists “a lot of problems” at the moment because it was happening in popular places like Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta and Uluwatu.
