So sick of hearing the separatist agenda. It seems that this is just another way they are spreading their hate campaign while we wait on results. Cannot watch the news any longer.

Elections Canada is counting the votes, how does global/cbc know the counts and it’s not on the EC website? I smell corruption!!!

@ Michael Kruper – Canada’s national broadcaster reported that Cardston/Siksikais the last one open. They ran out of ballots.which is 227km from Calgary. They likely have to drive more ballots out. Reports are that the First Nation’s turnout is triple what it normally has been.

All but one polling station closed in Alberta referendum. Live updates here.

Albertans have cast their votes. Now both the province and the rest of the country await the results of Monday’s referendum as voters decide Alberta’s future within Canada.

The referendum features 10 questions. The first five focus on immigration and newcomers’ access to health care, education and citizenship. The next four deal with Alberta’s constitutional authority and the province’s role within Canada’s judicial system.

The final and most closely watched question asks voters whether Alberta should remain in Canada or move toward a second, binding referendum on separation.

Results for Question 10, the separation question, are expected to be reported between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. MT Tuesday, according to Elections Alberta.

The father and son on opposite sides of Alberta’s separation vote

On Monday, people in Alberta will cast their ballots in a vote that includes a question on whether the western province should remain in Canada or pursue a binding provincial referendum on separation.

The other questions on the ballot paper ask Albertans about options to gain more autonomy from Ottawa, including on matters such as immigration control and access to social services for non-permanent residents.

In the separation vote, the remain side is expected to win, but the debate has caused tensions in Alberta. The BBC’s Nadine Yousif travelled to Buck Lake to speak with the close-knit Pietsch family, who have a father and son on either side of the debate.
