AFL LIVE: Hawks star cops nasty-looking injury as Demons’ stunning burst sets tongues wagging

The Hawks were a little more competitive in the third term but the Dees are still completely in control of this match heading into the last term.

It will be interesting to see how the turf is in the last term as it looked pretty patchy pregame as much of the stadium is a construction site as they work on a $130m major upgrade of the ground.

Hawks coach Sam Mitchell has big wraps for key defender Noah Mraz as he made his AFL debut today.

Mitchell told Kayo Sports that Mraz was already a much-loved member of the club and someone who showed a lot of promise as a key defender.

HAWTHORN and Melbourne meet for the first time in Launceston to open a Super Saturday of action.

The Hawks tightened their grip on a double chance as they held Greater Western Sydney at arm's length to claim a victory while a top-two spot comes into view.

The Hawks have a favourable run to come but first need to turn around a poor record against the Demons with only two wins in the past 12 matches both coming last year, although this is the first time hosting them at their Launceston fortress.

Melbourne returns from a bye hoping to have rediscovered its best form after a stretch of three defeats and wins over bottom-half sides Collingwood and Essendon since it staked a top-four claim with a victory over Hawthorn in round 10.

Live: Rabbitoh sin binned for kicking oppoenent, taking away first try

South Sydney and Penrith are without their State of Origin players for tonight's clash between the top-eight sides.

The Panthers are on top of the ladder but are on a two-match losing run.

Rabbitohs five-eighth Cody Walker was sent to the sin bin early after kicking the shin of Panthers halfback Jack Cogger.

Penrith winger Tom Jenkins has produced one of the great individual efforts.

He chased a bomb from Jack Cogger and caught it cleanly above a pack.

Tips: Freddy picks star who's 'killing them' to stun Panthers

Brad Fittler has tipped the Rabbitohs to pull the magician out of the hat and hand the Panthers a third successive loss.

The former Blues coach said the Rabbitohs were among the form teams in the comp.

But Andrew Johns disagreed, and pointed to the inexperience of the Rabbitohs’ outside backs – aside from Walker.

“Your outside backs are your front rowers in the modern game, so getting out of trouble, the Panthers have a huge advantage here,” he said on Wide World of Sports’ NRL Tips.

Wimbledon 2026 live updates: Day 5 latest with Sinner, Sabalenka and Pegula in third-round action today

Wimbledon recap Day 4: The Rafael Nadal law that explains how hard elite tennis can be

Perhaps it should be known as the law of beating Rafael Nadal.

Between 2012 and 2017, Nadal suffered seven shock defeats at Grand Slams before the quarterfinals. On not one of those occasions did the person who beat him go on to win another match at that tournament.

It’s a tale as old as time. In tennis, players have no chance to celebrate after a huge win, unless it comes in a Grand Slam final. Instead, they are asked to go back on court a day or two later and try to back it up.

On No 2 Court the Brazil shirts and flags are out in force, but the flags are fluttering a little less frantically when Fonseca drops the first set 6-3 against Roman Safiullin. At first look, Safiullin may not appear to be much of a danger for the 19-year-old Brazilian with the nuclear forehand; Safiullin had to come through qualifying and he hadn’t won a grand slam match in 2026 before this tournament. But Safiullin’s heavy hitting suits the grass, shown by his run to quarter-finals here in 2023, and he also defeated his fellow Russian Andrey Rublev, the 12th seed, in five sets in round one.

It remains scoreless in Toronto in the round-of-32 clash between Portugal and Croatia.

Portugal has had four shots on target already and captain Cristiano Ronaldo just had a crack from a handy free kick position.

But the 41-year-old’s effort was poor, thudding straight into Croatia’s wall.

We are now 15 minutes in with the winner of this match facing a daunting clash with Spain.

Nothing is assured or as it seems against Adrian Mannarino as he loves to come up with the most unlikely of winners.

But the left-hander is struggling badly with his serve, while Australian star Alex de Minaur is starting to find his best ground strokes.

De Minaur just broke him again and he will serve for the second set after ripping through a forehand winner.

De Minaur has broken Mannarino to love yet again to take a 3-2 lead in the second set.

But the value of break points isn’t near as much as usual due to de Minaur having his own issues with his first serve.

Alex de Minaur says he does not study a grand slam draw to check out the likely opposition down the line.

Maybe he really doesn't. But were the Australian No.1 tempted to glance at his half of the men's singles at Wimbledon this fortnight he might struggle to keep his imagination under control.

With the shock exit of big-hitting fourth seed Ben Shelton the draw has opened up all the way to the final.

Federal politics live: Andrew Hastie rules out leaving Liberals, says he's 'here to stay'

Liberal frontbencher Andrew Hastie has ruled out leaving the Liberals, saying he will contest the next federal election.

One Nation MP David Farley has asked about a new system for veterans accessing allied health.

"The Minster quoted on Tuesday one in ten veterans may go over the five thousand dollar cap for allied health services," he says.

"If the minister knows that… why not do the right thing now and carve them out of the $5000 cap immediately?" he asks.

Veterans' Affairs Minister Matt Keogh says the current system isn't working and says a carve out would not work.

"The purpose of the cap is to replace the current existing treatment cycle system where veterans are going back time and time again after every 12 referrals to a GP in order to access allied health services," he says.

World Cup live updates: Two goals in 161 seconds bring Belgium back from brink

Belgium 3 Romelo Lukaku 86′ Youri Tielemans (89′, 120+5′), Senegal 2 (Habib Diarra 21′, Ismaïla Sarr 51′)- MATCH CENTRE

“I officially don’t like football any more,” Boateng says on SBS.

“I feel so sad for Senegal… this was not deserved for Belgium and Senegal, they can keep their heads up.”

But did Lamine Camara’s challenge on Youri Tielemans warrant that extra time penalty?

“If the other way round, it wouldn’t be given to Senegal, I would be furious, you know,” Boateng said.

That’s fulltime in Seattle as Belgium advance past heartbroken Senegal 3-2 in a dramatic and controversial finish.

It was the latest winner in World Cup history as Youri Tielemans scored in the 125th minutes.

Tielemans’ controversial late penalty caps Belgium comeback over Senegal

A seesawing classic of a contest had just ticked into the 122nd minute, penalties all but a formality, when the referee, Saíd Martínez, wandered back towards the centre circle to award Belgium a stoppage-time penalty. The VAR, Guillermo Pacheco Larios, had highlighted Lamine Kamara swiping away Youri Tielemans’s left ankle in the seconds before Dodi Lukébakio had skimmed the crossbar. For Belgium, it was a get out of jail card, Tielemans converting the spot-kick to propel Rudi Garcia’s side into the last 16. After 85 minutes, they trailed Senegal 2-0.

Just as it seemed Belgium would join Germany and the Netherlands in the World Cup departures lounge, Garcia’s side rallied to take an entertaining game to extra time. With an early exit and second-half stoppage time looming, Romelu Lukaku, a half-time substitute, and Tielemans scored a goal apiece as Belgium struck twice in three minutes to cancel out goals by Habib Diarra and Ismaïla Sarr.

Then, we travel to Seattle, where Belgium will lock horns with Senegal, before the US looks to become the third co-host to advance to the Round of 16 when they face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Santa Clara

It's Jude Bellingham with the ball at his feet, angling in from the left.

His cross takes a big deflection and is flying towards goal, but Mpasi does excellently well to readjust his body and make a save at his near post.

Marcus Rashford, who has been one of England's best in North America, is running at a retreating DRC defence.

World Cup live updates: Touching gesture for grieving coach after stunning goal

After Kylian Mbappé’s two goals against Sweden this morning, he has now joined Lionel Messi on top of the Golden Boot standings.

If we get another week of these two battling it out for the trophy, it will certainly be a joy to watch.

Up next for France is Paraguay, who knocked out Germany on Tuesday in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Can they produce similar magic up against this juggernaut French team?

It’s unfortunate we don’t get to see France versus Germany, but Paraguay now gets an enormous opportunity.

Still a few minutes left, but they lead Sweden 3-0 here in New Jersey.
