The 'calculated move' that put new Hawk back on the AFL radar

Former Roo Flynn Perez was staying with an NBA player in the US when he got the call that reignited his AFL career

On Monday, Flynn Perez will play his first AFL game since he was delisted by North Melbourne at the end of 2023. Last month, Perez spoke to AFL.com.au after securing a rookie spot on Hawthorn's list and reflected on his two years in the AFL wilderness

FLYNN Perez wasn’t going to nominate for last year's AFL Draft. He hadn't attracted any interest from a club since he was delisted by North Melbourne at the end of 2023. But then Hawthorn player acquisition manager Mark Finnigan called out of the blue in November.

Dalton earns dream Easter Monday debut

Teenager Jack Dalton will play his first AFL game on Easter Monday against Geelong.

Hawthorn will blood its first AFL debutant for the season on Easter Monday, with young midfielder Jack Dalton set to play his first game.

Dalton, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Easter Sunday, was told the news in front of teammates ahead of the blockbuster clash against the Cats at the MCG tomorrow.

The East Malvern product joined the Hawks with Pick 34 in last year’s National Draft.

A prolific ball-winner at junior level, Dalton beat all comers in the 2km time trial at the most recent draft combine, stopping the clock at 5.53min.

Bendigo's Flynn Perez will make his debut for Hawthorn in their Easter Monday blockbuster against Geelong.

Perez's journey back to the big time is complete after he was added to the Hawks' rookie list through the pre-season supplemental selection period, only days prior to the start of the 2026 season.

Perez will add to the 24 games he played for North Melbourne between 2019 and 2023 before he was delisted by the Kangas at the end of the 2023 campaign.
