Georgie Gardner reveals news trauma takes its toll
Ahead of her final Nine News Sydney bulletin tonight, after nearly 25 years at Nine, George Gardner paid a visit to her former stomping ground at the Today show.
Speaking to Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo she said, “I feel incredibly thankful, Sarah, I’ve had so many wonderful opportunities. I’ve met so many great people. I’ve worked with the best in the industry. What more could I want?
“But I got to a stage where I just decided that as much as I love the craft of news reading – I really love it- I don’t need to tell you, the news is getting increasingly bleak, and I think there is possibly an element of vicarious sadness, trauma from continually reading pretty heavy stuff.
