Emergency services are responding to a shark attack at Sorrento Beach in Perth’s north.
A witness has described seeing blood in the water, and said two men had been swimming, but only one made it back to shore.
The attack came after a 2.5 metre shark was seen in the area.

9News understands the man was about 50 metres from shore when he was attacked.
One witness described the horrific scene, saying she saw the man being “mauled” in the water.
“I’m a nurse, so I mean I obviously see a lot of gruesome stuff, but to see somebody being mauled to death in the water in front of me is pretty hard to clock,” she told media at the scene, adding the shark threw the man around “like a fish”.

Wild scenes in Perth’s north after possible shark attack
Emergency services have descended on popular Sorrento Beach after a fatal shark attack.
St John WA confirmed that three crews had been called to the scene under priority one conditions about 10.15am on Friday, but they “have since been stood down”.
WA Police have confirmed water police are also on the scene.
Surf Life Saving WA reported a shark interaction in the area at 10.20am.
A witness near the scene told PerthNow that the incident had unfolded near Raleigh Road, near popular waterfront spot Hillarys Boat Harbour.
The beach has been closed to swimmers and people in the area have been advised to take caution.
