A Coalition government would end Australia’s non-discriminatory immigration program and introduce Trump-style social media vetting for visa applicants, as Angus Taylor accuses Labor of allowing migrants of “subversive intent” into the country.

As the opposition loses support to Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, Taylor says too many people seek to use Australia’s generosity “for self-serving purposes”, promising to speed up rejections of asylum seekers from countries deemed safe to return to.

A coalition government plans to end Australia's non-discriminatory immigration program and introduce social media vetting for visa applicants if it governs again.

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor would also boot migrants that do not exhibit a belief in a "fair go" from the country under a new hardline migration plan he will unveil in a speech on Tuesday.

"We need to put Australian values first and that hasn't been the case in our immigration system in the past and it needs to change," Mr Taylor told ABC Radio on Tuesday.

The federal opposition leader will reveal the first elements of the Coalition's immigration policy during a speech on Tuesday.

Under the plan, Angus Taylor would introduce social media checks on all visa applications.

The Coalition says the announcement is just the first pillar of a wider proposed immigration policy, promising more to come.

Social media screening of visa applicants would be ramped up and migrants who breach Australian values would be deported under a Coalition government proposal.

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor will unveil the first part of his plan for a migration crackdown in a speech to the Menzies Research Centre on Tuesday.
