Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million suit against South Korean tech giant Samsung. Lipa claims that the company used her image on its product packaging without her prior authorization.
According to Variety, the singer filed the lawsuit on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The complaint alleges that Samsung has placed the picture of Lipa in action on stage at the Austin City Limits Festival on TV packaging since last year.
Lipa claims that when she discovered this, she contacted the company to ask them to take the picture down, but Samsung responded dismissively and rejected her request.

The 30-year-old entertainer filed on Friday (May 8) in the Central District of California, suing the electronics company for $15 million, accusing them of using her image on their packaging to sell TVs without her permission, according to Variety.
According to the lawsuit, the electronics manufacturer used a photo of Dua performing at the Austin City Limits Festival on their TV packaging starting last year. Then, once she was made aware, she demanded they stop using her image and she alleges the company was “dismissive and callous,” refusing her request.
“Ms. Lipa’s face was prominently used for a mass marketing campaign for a consumer product without her knowledge, without consideration, and as to which she had no say, control, or input whatsoever,” the complaint says. “Ms. Lipa did not allow and would not have allowed this use.”

Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, alleging the company used her image on television packaging without authorization or compensation.
Citing a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, Variety reported Saturday that Samsung used Lipa’s likeness on cardboard TV packaging beginning last year as part of a mass-market marketing campaign.
The lawsuit claims the image was used without Lipa’s knowledge or consent, creating the false impression that she endorsed Samsung products.
