Turkish Airlines orders 10 Cessna Skyhawks for flight academy training

Turkish Airlines has placed an order for a further 10 Cessna Skyhawk aircraft to train future fleet pilots at the carrier’s flight academy.

On April 23, 2026, Cessna’s owner Textron Aviation confirmed a signed purchase agreement from Turkish Airlines Flight Academy at the second day of AERO Friedrichshafen in Germany.

According to Textron Aviation, Turkish Airlines Flight Academy already operates 66 Cessna Skyhawk aircraft, making it one of the largest Skyhawk training fleets in the region.

Deliveries of the new aircraft are expected to begin this year as Turkish Airlines looks to expand its training fleet to support growing airline pilot demand across Europe.

Türkiye – Textron Aviation, the manufacturer of Cessna aircraft, has announced that Turkish Airlines Flight Academy (TAFA) has signed a purchase agreement for 10 Cessna Skyhawk aircraft, further expanding one of the largest single-type training fleets in Europe.

Turkish Airlines Cancels Flights to These 18 Destinations

ISTANBUL— Turkish Airlines (TK) has announced a wide-ranging network adjustment for the northern summer 2026 schedule, gradually suspending services to multiple international destinations.

The changes affect operations from its primary hub at Istanbul Airport (IST), as the airline recalibrates capacity across its global network.

The carrier will suspend flights to 18 international destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe between May and June 2026.

The move reflects a strategic review of route performance and operational priorities, with several suspensions extending into the winter 2026/27 season, Aero Routes flagged.

Turkish Airlines will discontinue service to a broad mix of destinations, including Aqaba, Billund, Bissau, Freetown, and Havana.

TOKYO — Budget carrier Scoot is set to take on Japan's two main airlines and its own parent's flagship, Singapore Airlines, with a new route serving Haneda Airport in Tokyo from Sunday.

As of February 2026, three airlines are operating non stop flights between Singapore Changi Airport and Medan Kualanamu International Airport. These airlines are Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and Batik Air Indonesia. Among them, Scoot and Batik Air Indonesia are being seen as the most directly comparable options for budget conscious and mid range travellers on this corridor. Scoot Launching New Flights from Singapore to Best Big City in the World

SINGAPORE- Scoot (TR) has launched direct flights between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), entering one of Asia’s most competitive long-haul leisure and business routes. The service places the low-cost carrier alongside All Nippon Airways (NH), Japan Airlines (JL), and parent Singapore Airlines (SQ) at Haneda.

The move expands Scoot’s Japan network to 45 weekly flights and increases overlap within the Singapore Airlines Group portfolio, as both Scoot (TR) and Singapore Airlines (SQ) operate between Singapore (SIN) and Tokyo (HND).

Scoot’s new Haneda service began operations on Sunday, marking a strategic shift for the budget airline. Haneda Airport (HND), located closer to central Tokyo than Narita International Airport (NRT), offers shorter ground transfer times and stronger domestic connectivity.
